Well in both of them the character in cutscenes vs. what you actually play is completely jarring in tone. You go from massacring hundreds in cold blood to a scene of inept vulnerability. Both are great games but it just doesn't mesh well in either case.

The main point this article makes is that the Wii U gamepad gives a potential bridging of PC/console gaming. With Nintendo running things and the hardware design of the Wii U, this will never ever happen.

The Wii U has in truth all ready failed to be as successful as the Wii. The gamepad did not catch the attention of the casual market like the Wiimote, so there's no chance for a repeat of the gimmick based hype frenzy. Imo its only shot at even a mediocre sales this gen...

The raw power of modern PC gaming rigs just goes to waste when every game is developed with 360/PS3 as the baseline. Even PC only games generally cater to low system requirements. The improved graphical fidelity of a high end gaming PC is great, but that's all you can do with the limitations of the core game. PS4 has fantastic specs for the price range as a new developer baseline is absolutely fantastic for PC gamers.

That one was probably easy considering Hitman games are all PC based. It's got to be so much harder to rework a console exclusive game that only exists as hard coded for specific incompatible old hardware.

PS4 is about as perfect as you could get for the console price range. What's important is that we'll now have a new baseline for multiplat development. The basic core of every game has been limited by designed to run on 360/PS3 hardware. No matter how much you crank the fidelity settings on PC, it's still the same base game and you're really wasting the potential of modern PC hardware.

Considering what they've pulled out of PS3/360 doesn't even run on...

I'm just worried half the launch shipments will be gobbled up by ebay scalpers. Such a scummy thing to do.

This is why I stopped reading much about upcoming games. They always give you unrealistic expectations. Just pick and choose after release (and price drops). Now I'm neutral going in and come out feeling generally positive about games.

God I hope that's not true. But I could see it considering the production values of this game. It's like the Uncharted games but longer and better looking. Playing it right now about 12 hours in and I'm just blown away how good this game is. And if anything the Tomb Raider name is actually hurting sales because people expect crap at this point. This developer has insane talent and I'll be very disappointed if they don't get funded for another big game.

I absolutely hate to say it, but I think CoD4:MW really defined this generation. There's no point in arguing "best" game because that's based on personal preference and there's just so many good ones. CoD4 is just hands down the most influential and trend setting game... even though CoD is essentially a plague on gaming now.

We'll have to see on that. Having a set hardware spec and OS will at least make it easy for developers to ensure games work well on that system.

But yeah I don't anticipate using mine for anything but emulators and netflix.

I'm honestly more inclined to take an outlier's opinion more seriously on a game like this. One thing I learned during the Wii era is to never ever trust the collective Nintendo fanboy opinion on anything. Overrated doesn't even begin to describe how far you guys go when desperate.

That makes me glad I got one in the Kickstarter. Probably wasn't going to use it much otherwise because I have little interest in phone games on a TV. Still had to support the project to give an underdog a shot. I can live with a game nostalgia/netflix machine.

I can't see why not this time around. PS3 hardware was just to dissimilar to justify porting and trying to integrate an MMO. PS4 is essentially a PC in a box and could easily handle every MMO out there. Just release a Sony brand PS4 keyboard/mouse and allow developers to use it optionally.

Considering Dust 514, I'd put money on CCP porting Eve Online. Also Sony needs to make Planetside 2 a launch title. There's just so many existing PC titles that console gamers ...

EA is terrible and the Wii U sucks. Like forces repel each other.

I don't know why my fellow PC gamers try to slam PS4 so much. PS4 is as good as we could possibly expect for a $300-400 price point. Plus I think everyone is vastly underestimating what an APU and modern PC hardware is capable of when put in a dedicated console.

We are going on 8 years of hardware advancement but with game design being held to 2005 hardware. PC has enjoyed much better graphical fidelity but for big budget multiplats the core game is restricted by old con...

I just find it strange that Nvidia/AMD still need to release patches to make specific games play decently on the current hardware. You'd think by now game developers would put more effort into getting it running smoothly on the drivers out during development. I mean what else would you test it on?

4701d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Just open the flood gates and everyone will be porting PC indie games over. There's no reason not to with similar hardware and an easy license process. PS4 obviously needs its own games but it could get such a great head start by all the PC port potential from big and small games. Console gamers have no exposure to a lot of the stuff on PC and it might as well be new to them.

Scores are just arbitrary crap that gets in the way of telling you the true quality of the experience. Like if you're scoring Spec Ops: The Line based on buying it new as a $60 game. The bad reviews are mostly because it's short and has generic shooter mechanics. So what? It's a must play if you have any interest experiencing one of the best narratives ever done in a video game. How about pick it up when it's down to $20. Then is it 10/10 must play? Yet the bad review taints i...

That's not really the concern. The problem is the mobiles eating away so much of the market that developers can no longer make a profit on the big budget games we love. Mobiles are getting quite capable of satisfying a basic casual gamer. Like it or not consoles rely on those people to support them.
