I absolutely regret buying. Bought it from nostalgia without looking into it too much. All EA has managed to do is destroy their credibility. Even without the DRM they've ruined the series in my eyes. No more day 1 purchasing from me.
And btw nothing could have encouraged piracy more than this fiasco. More than likely within a few months we'll see a cracked version of Simcity up that works with local saves and modding. Just totally separate it from their mess. If they...
I'd tap that
Well I'm fairly certain most Wii users are still confused about WiiU being a Wii add-on or something so good luck every getting them to figure out a hdd.
This guy can go suck it. Current console hardware has been holding back developers since 2008. As a PC gamer it's frustrating as hell knowing the untapped raw power that modern hardware has. Better textures/draw distance/resolution is nice but the base games are all designed to run on 360/PS3.
I think everyone really underestimates what new consoles will be capable of. 7 years is a long time in hardware development. The graphical leap won't be as big as before just b...
"Hotly anticipated"..... sure whatever. WiiU is PS3/360 generation specs old news.
It's barely powerful enough to port 360/PS3 games to, let alone run the real next-gen games. Why would any 3rd party even bother to invest development time learning a system that has no 3rd party future outside of junk tailor made for nintendo fanboys and kiddie shovelware?
All it would have taken for Nintendo to dominate this generation is a little investment on the hardware side and opening up to 3rd party developers. Instead they repeated the Wii plan of overpriced ga...
You could make a game engine that optimizes the PS2 to its absolute fullest potential and no one would care because it still looks like crap compared to modern standards.
WiiU has the same problem as the Wii. 5 year old hardware is not going to impress anyone graphically no matter how much effort you put into developing on it.
Nintendo left themselves out of all next-gen multiplats again by going cheap/greedy on the overpriced ancient hardware. Without a su...
Price cut to $149 and some decent games. I think Nintendo's entire scheme behind the crap hardware+gimmick is to have price cut options if the gimmick doesn't take off. Same hedged bet they took with the Wii and it's not paying off big again.
You need to actually have a story arc to count as a trilogy. Super Mario 1,2,3 is just a series.
Starcraft: Ghost?
Didn't say anything about being unrelated to existing franchises.
We all know EA is just a horrible corporate machine. They still manage to publish a few great games these days, but nothing escapes their DLC/DRM/Dumb it down agenda. Simcity was just the most recent casualty. They've devoured and ruined so many great developers and franchises that there's no way EA is anything but a cancer on the games industry.
With a 7 year gap, people are ready for new consoles. I think you may just be disappointed that people aren't receiving Nintendo's latest gimmick very well. After the Wii fizzled at 4 years they weren't going to get away with the same overpriced crappy hardware+gimmick scam.
There may be a longer transition with more cross-gen multiplats this time around, but by holiday 2014 the next gen will be in full swing. And as a PC gamer annoyed by how much consoles have h...
I sure don't mind any media center features on consoles. It's stupid not to add them now days. But Microsoft seems to be dumping their gaming base in the pursuit of "entertainment" and Kinect garbage. Microsoft didn't invest a damned thing into game studios like Sony has. Aside from Halo/Gears/Forza it's all multiplats. Unless Microsoft has some hidden cards to play the next Xbox looks very uninteresting.
Absolutely. Putting the DRM aside, the basic design choices are just baffling. There's no customization options to anything and most depth has been removed. This was the foundation of Simcity along with huge cities. Anyone with perspective can see this game has no longevity. Deserves at best 7/10 fully functional.
Unless they completely rework the game it will be unplayed within a year.
Scores are just arbitrary numbers. There's no reason not to change them if the game changes with patches or the perception of it changes with time.
It's like cult classic movies that develop a following only years or decades later. They were critically the 7/10 generic games yet stood the test of time, while plenty of 9/10 popular garbage was forgotten. Why can't a publication change opinion later down the line?
As for Simcity, even without the D...
You're a fool to pay $60 unless you must have it day 1 these days.
The entire idea is a cancer on gaming. Baffling design choices are what ruined both the games.
It sounded good theory. As an extension to the classic single player epic management game.
But even if they sort out all the bugs and the servers work perfectly, the basic game is still completely broken imo. Basing everything around the multiplayer mode with small cities is just a joke.
Imo the Wii was a calculated gamble after the failure of the Gamecube. Release ancient last gen garbage hardware with a gimmick. It fails? -they drop to $99 and live off Nintendo fanboys. It succeeds they, make billions off casual morons. Fizzled out in 4 years and they tried a repeat this gen to a lackluster reaction.
Nintendo's diabolical greed and contempt for consumers definitely left them in a good financial position. But they show no signs of being ever willing to i...
Well I'll definitely take Dead Space 3. Free is the only way I was going to get it if those bastards insist on making it an Origin based game.
After Origin and Simcity I am just done with EA. I hope they keep driving away paying customers until bankruptcy.
