As soon as the WiiU gets a price cut I'm all in. Same as the 3DS was at launch it's overpriced outdated hardware. Sells poorly until they cut the price and good games start flowing.

At least there's going to be a new lowest common denominator. Right now every multiplat is limited in designed by 8 year old 360/PS3 hardware.

Price cut is mainly how they did it. They'll have to do the same for the Wii U. Both were overpriced and outdated hardware at launch. Without a good games library there's not much incentive to immediately buy the latest thing when its not really the latest and greatest thing.

If Nintendo is going to keep staying a generation behind in technology they've either got to price it like a budget system or launch with enough good games to justify a purchase.

Well the Wii was a crap product and people are forgetting how abysmal its launch lineup was. Yet it sold like crazy due to a gimmick that really struck with the masses. The Wii U gimmick failed in that regard and has it has no audience except for hold out Nintendo fanboys.

Even with the first party Nintendo games and a major price cut, we're looking at a repeat of Gamecube era sales at best.

Intel integrated graphics have always been a red flag in computer purchasing. I don't see that changing any time soon.

It's going to be Fallout first. Elder Scrolls Online is launching soon for one thing.

Hold on now. Dreamcast was a state of the art console with innovative features and great games. NOTHING like the WiiU.

If anything the WiiU is their Saturn so even if they produce a Dreamcast next, it will fail.

Might make the Wii U worth buying to me. But no game is going to change the fact that the console as hardware is piece of garbage and overpriced for the capabilities.

$399/$499 seems the obvious points.

When was it not?

PC gaming is vastly larger overall. It's just very fractured to the point that there's a ton of different small communities. There just isn't that console sheep mentality of buying the next big game en masse. People play the same games for years and there's always mods or cheap older games. The longevity of PC games is really what killed it as a market for the publishers.

And a PC gamer would know that having the right amount of quick RAM is a very important factor in reducing system bottlenecks. The only reason not to have loads of excess RAM on a PC is because programs aren't designed to utilize it. In a dedicated console developers will use all they are given for one thing or another.

And 360 was the first system to have a shared RAM pool (512mb GDDR3). It was a significant advantage and is a more efficient method. Why do you think the...

Oh yes they totally botched the character. But otherwise this game was a pleasant surprise. Extremely well done in most areas that matter. And man is it gorgeous maxed out on PC.

No that's just Nintendo fanboys. I'd abandon Sony immediately if PS4 were as pathetic as the WiiU.

Way to back the dinosaur, Microsoft.

Yeah seriously. Microsoft is betting a lot on a dying medium here. I don't know many people under 30 who have one. Zero tech savvy gamers in fact. Cable just got to expensive and streaming/torrents is more convenient.

With the Cell being a dead-end technology it just didn't make sense to add b/c by any means. You would need essentially all PS3's component chips jammed into PS4s box as well. Add a whole lot to the cost.

Personally I'd love to pay $600+ for a special edition PS4 that includes PS3 and PS2 chips internally, Just doesn't make sense financially to have engineers redesign the whole thing for the small market of us who would want it.

The only reason I care that they continue is that it keeps Sony producing a superior product. I loved the original Xbox but I knew it was over when they turned 360 into a consumer milking machine and never invested in studios.

Ask anyone with an almost high end gaming PC what they tune settings to. You can get quite a bit more fidelity by dropping into the 30-40fps range and that's perfectly fine for RPGs and most action games.

4691d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

30/60fps has nothing to do with next gen. Any game on PS3/360 could be designed to be 60fps. It has always been just a balance between visual effects and how many frames of it can be rendered per second. I have a $1500 gaming PC and regularly play games in the 30-40fps range. I could turn down visual settings and have it running 100+ fps on low. It's just a balancing act between looking as good as possible and running smoothly. With set console hardware specs most developers aim to maximi...
