Ubisoft's conference is the most obnoxious thing I've seen in a long time.
Yeah I hope they really focus on Planetside 2. The game is virtually unknown to the console world and could be a huge next gen highlight. MMOFPS might be just what PS4 needs to take a chunk of the XBL base.
Yeah definitely getting Titalfall on PC. But still going to be a big deal for console plebs. Going to maintain a big portion of 360's core XBL shooter base.
$399 PS4 and it's over. More powerful system with less restrictions and more exclusives.
$499 is just completely unjustified for Xbox One. That's probably well above production costs for the basic hardware.
It was a great conference for people who didn't realize almost all those games will be playable elsewhere.
Ryse looked great until you realize the combat is entirely QTE.
They certainly are. The only problem is that there's no games made that fully utilize that power. Just cranking up resolution and fidelity doesn't change the basic game. Most all games are now targeted at lowest common denominator of PS3/360 hardware. Even PC exclusives rarely require top of the line hardware. Once games are developed to PS4/XBO base specs things will be much improved. New console hardware is good for everyone and I think this is great specs for the $400 range.
By this logic we shouldn't need any new games period. Everything's been done in some form.
Could not agree more. Halo 2 had a terrible campaign and ruined most of the subtle gameplay elements that made Halo CE so incredible. Played Halo CE LAN parties for years and nothing to this day has matched it imo.
I don't see a problem as long as they're legitimate reviews.
But I sure as hell don't actually watch/read them because it's just going to spoil things.
What just baffles me is that they're completely unwilling to use their cash hoards from Wii/DS to finance new studios and a system with modern specs. Instead they tried for a repeat of the Wii gimmick and it fell flat on its face with no games to back it up. Nintendo under different management could have easily dominated this console generation.
Until they make a platform that isn't based around touch screen games I could not care less.
Yeah the saddest thing about the Kinect is it only becomes interesting when people un-tether it from anything Xbox related. Neat piece of technology but it'll mostly just sit there.
Now if Microsoft were announcing Oculus Rift support alongside Kinect for next-gen. Okay we might have a winner!
As a PC gamer I'm damned glad we finally have some new consoles coming out. Devs using 360/PS3 as the baseline for multiplats has been holding back gaming for a long time now. No matter how much better visual fidelity my GPUs push, the base game is still limited.
Microsoft is notorious for spending minimal amounts on actual ground work infrastructure for their products. Just throw wads of cash at buying deals and advertisements. If $1 Billion was going to Sony's philosophy of 1st party ground up studios then it might mean something. Instead it just means outright buying exclusivity contracts.
So lets put on hold one of the best new franchises of recent times to resuscitate a most forgotten franchise that wasn't very popular to begin with. Makes sense.
@MNGamer-N. Yes games are what matters most. And so far the Wii U lacks them severely. It will do fine eventually with a price cut. I'm really just addressing people who bother to defend the actual physical hardware of the system.
@Theyellowflash30 - No I certainly don't know more than him. But unless we're reading different words he said absolutely nothing to indicate the Wii U's capabilities relative to non-Nintendo systems.
It's blatant...
Just say yeah it does all that multimedia crap too. That's what everyone EXPECTS now. Hell most TVs now have internet and video streaming services built in.
Sure Xbox does it in a fancier way, but just the fact that Microsoft reserves a huge chunk of the RAM and CPU for running this extraneous crap means it comes at a direct cost to gamers.
It's going to have a rough time considering new console launches and how crowded this fall is for releases.
PS4 is top priority even without further announcements. Maybe XBO later down the line. But so far we have a $500 system that has 2 interesting games I can't play elsewhere. Although I admit Titanfall may be a big deal to people who don't own a PC.
