You just made me think of these two lines from Wall Street :) I don't think many would complain about that happening to EA.

Exactly.

To be fair, while the headline could be interpreted as silly, when you read the drummer's actual quote it seems like what he means is that he's trying to create music that will be, or at least feel like, a completely new genre. Like Rock and Roll would have been 'music never heard before' if you went back in time and played it to Beethoven.
I think the answer to the articles question depends on what is meant by redemption. If you simply mean 'Bioware makes a good game' then yes, it's possible Anthem will redeem them.
However, if redemption means 'Bioware makes another wonderful, character driven, single player RPG in a fantastic new setting' then no, they can't redeem themselves since this game is completely different.
With respect, I have to disagree and am astonished anyone could come to that conclusion.
I find that sales are more prevalent and often steeper on pc, theres a greater number of titles available, there are more graphical tweaks possible, modding is more widely supported, keyboard and mouse is fantastic for certain genres, load times can be quicker and frame rates are far superior. Sure, a lot of this depends on the machine, but that's all part of the draw for PC gaming...
I loved Dead Space, yes, even the 3rd one. However, I see them as a separate entity to RE. I would say The first Evil Within is the successor to RE 4. Same creator to boot. EW is RE4 but with far more disturbing, horrifying and twisted imagery and landscapes.
In fact, I'd recommend people pick EW up cheap on a key site in time for Halloween if they want to experience some scares in a RE4 type game. All the initial tech problems which burdened the pc versions metasc...
I agree.
I've enjoyed my time with the sequel and don't regret my purchase but I much preferred the first game. Far greater variety (and imagination) in the environments, more enemy types and all those slightly different combat sequences which have that hand-crafted Mikami feel to them. I really felt it was like RE 4 crossed with the unsettling horror of Silent Hill. The gameplay was well paced too, things got changed around frequently and the game rarely felt li...
Unfortunately I didn't love it in DA:I, nor did I like the busy work which made up the main reason for exploring the maps in the first place.
I thought DA:I was over-hyped and only won the GOTY's it did (it wasn't an avalanche of them) because it was a fairly low key year for games. I preferred several games over DA:I but they were never gonna be GOTY contenders in a broad sense since they were either from niche genres, new IPs or exclusives which have a tou...
This is shaping up to being one of the best years in gaming for awhile. So no, I don't think modern gaming sucks.
Also, I know the author has a vested interest in portraying himself as a gamer 'since the beginning of time' in order to help validate his credentials to be able judge if gaming today is worse but please....gaming since the age of 2? Hah. I encouraged my children and nieces/nephews to get a controller in their hands as soon as possible and I can t...
I lost so much change to this game, argh. I think only Golden Axe, Final Fight and Double Dragon got more money out of me.
Agh...this is nonsense. They've been saying there's a doom-bringing, menacing and toxic environment 'growing' since around 2010. How long does this 'apocalypse' take to arrive exactly? Are we waiting for an alignment of the stars? Is Cthulhu involved in some way? It's utter rubbish.
What you've actually got are an ever increasing number of gamers and the vast majority of them behave in a perfectly reasonable manner, whether criticising o...
It wouldn't seem so odd to me if it was some kind of character and story driven MMORPG but....it's an online FPS for God's sake.
And yeah, I agree with many here, I thought it was satire to begin with.
Yeah, I agree.
That's why I prefer to call the ones where you run and hide horror and the ones where you have weapons and fight back survival horror.
They're both still horror-based games but I think both styles deserve their own recognition and category from a design point of view.
With respect, I don't see the point in the comparison. I make a distinction between the genres. One is survival horror and the other just horror.
They said you weren't gonna be doing much shooting in Resi Evil but there was loads, it even had boss fights. Grenade launchers, flamethrowers and a fair bit of ammo too. There weren't many places at all where you were supposed to/had to hide or run away as opposed to Outlast. Don't get me wrong, there's c...
While I agree that many games were influenced by DX, I don't think that means that DX itself no longer has a place. There's plenty of room for everyone as long as a game is good.
I would also argue that although the two new DX's held true to the spirit of letting the player deal with levels and situations as they wanted, they didn't have the same variety of locations, level design, situations, plot development and characters that the original did. So, in e...
I thought Dead Space 3 was a good game. It had good pacing in monster encounters, a fun gun crafting mechanic and a lot of different environments which kept things feeling adventurous and interesting. After playing through DS1 three times and DS2 twice, I was glad for the extra variety. Even most of the optional side missions had a genuine unique feel to them, like the one with the country music and radio voice over that taunts you, hundreds of years from the past.
Unfor...
I agree, especially since CDPR always seem to push for more and are always so ambitious. I mean, they said it's gonna be bigger than TW3 and how many delays did that get? Two if iirc.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it sooner rather than later (as long as they don't rush it, which I doubt) and who knows? Maybe with their previous experience with TW3 and everything they've learnt, plus the allegedly much larger team working on it, they're manag...
No need to apologise, sometimes the most well thought out comments require more writing in order to fully flesh out the points one is trying to make....and you made several good ones.
I think people who assume, or push, that gender and sexual orientation are the main priorities in determining the way to create a character's personality and motivations are actually belittling the diversity we have as human beings, as individuals, and are therefore missing the whole point...
Careful there friend, you don't want to be sued do you? Crappy? Is that a hate campaign you're starting? You may just hurt their feelings.
Surprising, seeing as though my experience of the game was that there wasn't much 'attacking' to begin with. Not quite as much as Amnesia and nothing compared to Outlast or, especially, Alien Isolation.
Still really enjoyed it though.
