Sorry, not trying to have a go at you here but you bringing up Naughty Dog shows what's really got you upset.

Relax, they'll both be fantastic games I imagine :) It's a win-win.

As for why they won't show us the footage? I imagine it's because of the crapstorm they got when they showed Witcher 3 a few months from release. People compared it to the E3 footage 1-2 years previous and immediately flew into a rage. CDPR forums were full...

Thanks for the info, I didn't know they were going to keep the amount of shooting to a moderate level. That's interesting.

I think you're right about the environment. 1st person never bothered me but the more I imagine it, the more I feel that the busy streets lined with skyscrapers and the amount of interior areas we'll presumably explore means 1st person will fit in far better.

I have to respectfully disagree and I suspect so do many others. 1st person is often used when immersion is paramount precisely because it offers more immersion. Horror games, walking simulators etc, even games like Doom, Quake, Thief, Deus Ex, Bioshock. I'm getting the distinct impression people have different definitions of what 'immersion' means.

For me it means, YOU are in the game, not an avatar. VR uses 1st person and its whole claim to fame is based o...

Totally agree, I wrote the same thing on another site where someone said something along the lines of 'there are no good story driven rpg's in 1st person.'

I'd also add System Shock, Arx Fatalis, Bioshock, Ultima Underworld and Vampire Bloodlines to that list.

I think walking through the neon-lit, bustling streets of Nightcity surrounded by towering skyscrapers is going to be great in 1st person and I trust CDPR to be making the right deci...

When W3 released, I really disliked how far the camera was from Geralt. I liked 3rd person but I wanted it closer. Thanks to CDPR being mod friendly, it only took 2-3 days before a good cam mod came along.

I'm hoping this game will be just as mod friendly, so while having to wait for a mod might be annoying, it'll come. Having said that, they might put it in the options. I think they do try to take the customers requests seriously.

I'm n...

They don't have to be subtle and they don't need to avoid it. Making it the only talking point from a story/character building perspective was odd though, imho.

My point is that (and yes, I can't know for certain without being able to read Mr Druckmann's mind) they simply would not have made that scene had she been straight. Which means the only reason it was made was due to her being non-hetero. Which in turn means he's prioritising identity politics...

To be fair, I don't think Ellie being a lesbian, something that's been fairly widely known about for years anyway, is why people are a bit disappointed with that element of the trailer. It's more to do with the obvious, condescending and somewhat obsessive way Druckmann goes on about these things, coupled with the subtle-as-a-ton-of-bricks way it was implemented into the video.

The focus on Ellie's sexuality when we know so little about the games story, in ...

With respect to NeonRidr's comments, Game Pass being successful doesn't equate to the game being successful, which is what I thought we all cared about.

I'm rather shocked and saddened to read so many comments that seemingly ignore the poor quality of SoDII (following so closely after Sea of Thieves) whilst cheering on Microsoft because GamePass is raking in money - as if it's a big win for gamers.

I thought we all cared primarily about th...

Seriously? WHF banned because drugs made it easier? That's absurd.

What about Pac-man? When he pops those special pills, the game is way easier.

Not sure how he can be overrated when there is often equal amounts praise and hatred. People are always having a go at him, it's on any forum discussing his games. This article is based on a non-existent 'fact', so what's the point of it?

People aren't scared, they're just fed up, particularly because of point 3, imho.

1. It can impact escapism.

2. It's usually pretty shallow; 'look at those exaggeratedly evil, baby eating bastards who also have different viewpoints!
Blow their heads off, that's it, you're taking a political stand and helping the world!'.

3. It's almost always one sided. It's less a case of 'discuss...

I would imagine that all the key employees have slowly left over time so that, like Bioware, it's pretty much Rare in name only. I guess it's just the way things go.

The founders of Rare, the Stamper brothers, who wowed me and other gamers with Jet-pac on the Spectrum 48k all those years ago when the company was called Ultimate:Play the Game, left about 10 years ago I think. Not sure if MS's policies had anything to do with it but it's a shame regardless. ...

I don't see this as a problem. In fact, the article itself says it wants more ports, just not the ones the writer, subjectively, thinks are mediocre. The title of this article should simply be 'Nintendo is releasing too many games I'm not interested in' or 'Nintendo need to release more new games'.

The thing is though, it's not as if brand new IPs/games are being held back to make way for ports. Nintendo aren't sitting there saying 'We...

Yeah, this is actually something that has happened to me a few times. I think my enjoyment of BotW was dampened by over 300 hours in Witcher 3. Sure, these games have their differences, but the open-world of BoW was underwhelming to me and lots of people who loved the game specifically mentioned loving the exploration, a facet which was lost on me. I still thought it was good and, of course, it has lots of Zelda puzzles, something the others don't. Still, I think my enjoyment of BoW w...

For me personally, it's way too early. I'm primarily a pc gamer and only bought my PS4 last August.

I finished The Order pretty much straight way since it's a short, linear game. However, I still have yet to finish Horizon Dawn and Persona 5. Then there's The Last Guardian, two Yakuza games, Until Dawn, Monster Hunter and Bloodbourne.

Finally, I'll pick up God of War< Last of Us 2 and Days Gone later. That in addition to my Ste...

Very disappointing.

Having only been able to afford consoles and having not been able to play on pc for quite a few years back in the very late 80's/early nineties, System Shock was one of two games (X-Com was the other one) that I first played when I finally got another computer in '96. They both blew me away.

Hope they get the project back on track soon.

Well, that all depends on how much store you put in professional reviews I guess. I thought DA: Inquisition had some bad flaws and so did many others. It seemed to split opinion among the gaming community, even if the critics generally praised it.

Also, ME: Andromeda is not the only title Bioware has been criticised for. People weren't happy, to varying degrees, with DA2 or ME3.

2907d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Precisely. It's so easy to forget that it's the people who make a company, not the name. My personal experience of their games is that things were generally going downhill from DA2 on.

Anyway, I'm not sure how Anthem, an online co-op loot n' shoot, is supposed to bring Bioware back from the brink in terms of favour with the single player RPG crowd. It might be a financial success and bring in new types of fans, but if we're talking about redemption w...
