Considering demos are so sorely lacking in gaming, especially when in comes to single-player, I'm not about to complain about this.
Besides, most people's worries about this game are the change in perspective and the resulting 'feel' of playing it. How the characters handles, the pace of movement and action etc. 30mins should be enough to get an idea of that, imho.
I remember being glad Dragon Age 2 had a demo since I managed to cancel...
Well, all DLC has to be looked at on an individual basis before people get there torches and pitchforks out - and I say that as someone who looks at DLC harshly.
For example, if the micro-transactions for RE2 are outfits then I really don't care. I don't consider that to be 'withheld gameplay'. It's a cosmetic thing.
However, when they released day 1 Prothean DLC for Mass Effect 3, I was appalled. Anyone whose loves the series knows...
Whilst I don't have anymore solid info than anyone else, my best guess is that we won't see GTA6 until 2021-2023. I also reckon the PS5 will come out mid to late 2020. I therefore doubt GTA6 will be on PS4 first since the new console gen will have already been going anywhere from one to three years.
I know Rockstar would probably love to get people to buy the same game three times over but unless they manage to get GTA6 out BEFORE PS5 is released I don't see i...
Well, that's really disappointing.
I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised. Isolation won a few Goty's but still received some mixed reviews and horror games are even more niche than survival horror. Maybe the budget just isn't there.
I notice in the comments that some people are echoing many reviewers thoughts that the game was too long. That's fine until it comes to those people that say 'You can't make a horror game that&...
I thought the video was pretty respectful, I didn't hear it insult anyone. The dad seems to be complaining that he can't get his son to stop playing but the Army seems to be saying, 'Hey, we need people with that focus and determination.
The posters simply challenge the idea that people who might fall, or feel they fall, into these stereotypical groups can't hack it in the Army. It seems like they're trying to say, 'Don't listen to what others ...
Your avatar is a picture of a male film character renowned for being brave, honest, compassionate and willing to judge every individual based on their own personal merits and actions, regardless of who or what they are. A man admired for his fierce integrity and solemn humility.....
.....and then you go and write that. I assume you're just joking with us :)
Scarily though, this writer doesn't even seem to be able to quantify 'gameplay' to begin with. How did he get a job writing about games in the first place?
Agreed.
I sometimes wonder whether it bothers 'journalists' because they're so desperate to have some sort of extra intellectual credibility. Like they actually look down upon the idea of a game simply being a game because they find it demeaning to their self-esteem. They want to be high brow and involved in something societal/political because it helps them feel important.
If that's the case, it's just sad. Can't they just be h...
'Video games are crafted from so many parts, it’s difficult to pin down exactly where the ‘game’ exists.'
Nah, it's not difficult at all actually. I think this guy's confusing 'game' with 'general fun'. Can an interactive video based product be fun? Sure. Does it automatically make it a game? No.
This is how much games reviewers have changed over the decades. The 'game' should be obvious. The game part is whe...
Well, I know it's been awhile since it came out and there's a whole new bunch of people to make games for but I, and the few friends I know who also loved the series, think Blood Money was a great game. We wanted more of that. Lots of levels of varying size in different, varied locations tied together with a story. The sort of levels that were mini puzzles that you'd play for roughly 1-3 hours until you found the way to get Silent Assassin. Once done, you'd move on to the ...
This isn't surprising with regards to RDR2.
They made choices which were always going to go against the grain for a lot of gamers. Limited fast travel, tons of 'simulation' busy-work for added authenticity and lots of forced travel time and dialogue. Combine that with the usual mission design and, for many, poor combat one would associate with a R* game and you've got a game that can't please everyone.
It obviously paid off big for t...
Well, I might not be happy but my wallet sure is...
Can I also say that when I read the headline, it seemed really out of character for CDPR, who are usually far more respectful and less cocky.
I've read the article and it was ANALYSTS and NOT CDPR who have made this claim.
People are gonna hate on CDPR if they think they attacked their beloved RDR. Come on N4G, change the headline, will ya?
Well, with regards to sales I really doubt it.
However, popular with players? Sure, it's possible.
Metacritic for RDR2 is 7.9 with regards to users and there are quite a few who say the actual gameplay is mediocre. If CP2077 gets a higher user score, which I suspect it will, then they could argue the point I guess.
I think your opinion will be far more commonplace as time goes on and the shine of this game wears thinner. At the moment people are still super-hyped and hoping for it to clean up GotY's.
Don't get me wrong, it is amazing in many ways but, as you point out, actual gameplay mechanics could be regarded as poor to mediocre, depending on how lenient the player is about these things.
Once things have died down though, in a year or so maybe, I think w...
Heh, yeah, that's a funny/good point :)
In fact, now that you mention it, it also feels somewhat strange when you hack a female soldier down and hear her death cry. It just feels weird seeing as though I, like the vast majority of men, were brought up with a strict 'never hit girls' code.
As a child, you never really saw it in war movies or action films but nowadays you play some games where you're butchering women en masse with all the e...
I often play female protagonists but when it comes to a fairly historical game like this, with this much attention to melee violence, it just feels too much of a stretch. I went with Alexios too and thought his voice acting, while not as good as Kassandra's, was still likable and, essentially, in good humoured.
I was worried he'd be a bland, gruff, macho type but he was much more of a down-to-earth chancer. For me, it worked well.
A response that makes little sense and is needlessly unpleasant imho.
@2pacalypsenow I think you made a fair and valid comment based on observing the climate we live in with regards to industry behaviour over the past few years.
I was shocked at how addictive this game was. Went to my brother's and ended up playing for hours. Something just really feels right about it compared to SS Brawl.
I think I might end up enjoying this even more than Smash Melee, which I absolutely loved.
Great to hear it has sold so well.
Not to nitpick but how can something be 'too real' and yet less 'natural'. Unless by 'natural' you mean 'what people are used to in visual media', maybe?
It's pretty subjective but I've never met anyone in person who prefers 30fps in games, I've only read it online and then it gets downvoted to buggery. I think most people prefer 60 in games and 24 (or whatever) in movies. Also, if it was an objective fact that games are better...
