I am late to the Arkahm universe, JUST picked up Asylum after work today, will probably pick up City closer to Christmas. Had the chance to play Asylum recently for a little while and I was blown away. Better late than never:)
DLC is a double edged sword. Fallout 3 was one of my favorite games this generation and I loved having the opportunity to continue playing in the wasteland after I had completed the main story.
My biggest concern with DLC however is once this generation has come and gone will we have access to the things we purchased still? Using Fallout as an example again let's say it's 5 years from now and I only own the newest consoles. Will I be able to download my DLC again? ...
There is also no difference between a corn dog and steak or 200 thread count sheets and 1000 thread count sheets!
It would be nice if it were set in a city where ebonics and rap doesn't rule the day. I hate black culture.
If you only own an Xbox you were able to enjoy the Gears trilogy, if you only had a PS3 you were able to enjoy the Uncharted series. If you have both you got to enjoy arguably the two biggest new IPs this generation. I finished up Gears last week, it was fun but a little too much been there done that. Best in series but felt too familiar. I will be interested to see if I feel the same way with Uncahrted 3, something tells me Naughty Dog probably did a better job wrapping up their series f...
If the game is more on the GTAIII side of things then I'll be there day one. If it is anything like San Andreas with a focus on ebonic-ghetto culture then you couldn't pay me enough to play it. Doesn't matter how good the gameplay is, I hate rap music and a culture that celebrates the inability to wear pants normally while drinking a 40 and talking like an idiot.
Just pick up the original Halo, not this retooled garbage.
The combination of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on N64 was fantastic. I can not even begin to count the amount of hours I put into these two titles. The single player campaigns were brilliant and the multiplayer with friends was the most fun I've ever had with a title (with a little Mario Kart 64 thrown in between all night sessions).
I downloaded the HD version of Perfect Dark on XBL last year and I still play it on a regular basis. Rare were at their pinnacle. How no ...
My feeling is that motion control will never be for the "hardcore". By it's very nature it just feels like what it is, a novelty for basic party games or a goofy gimmick for titles like Mass Effect or Halo where it has nothing to do with motion, just very basic voice commands. Apple is already doing that better with Siri.
For myself the combination of Gears and Uncharted made this generation. Each series became the reason I had to own both systems.
In a market flooded with FPS Epic really did something special with Gears, something that Naughty Dog built upon and in my opinion did much better because they have created a whole package.
I thought games were being stifled by developers who make incredibly repetive platformers based on old fairy tales.
I agree but only because I am not a fan of military shooters in the least. I've never understood the appeal but maybe that's just because I like a little more sci-fi/fantasy in my games. Battlefield 3 looks amazing for anyone who digs that series or those like it. I would take Bullestorm, Borderlands, Dead Space, Bioshock, etc... over it:)
I had actually picked up a PS3 at launch and had eventually sold it off shortly after the first Uncharted game. I enjoyed nothing on the console and thought Uncharted was an awful Gears of War clone..
When the slim came out I was looking for a Blu-ray player and eventually picked up Uncharted 2. I was blown away. And now as this generation winds down my opinions have changed. Gears didn't get worse but it just didn't much better. The guys at Naughty Dog have be...
Look at a game like Limbo. So simple but the atmosphere is what took a smart puzzle game and made it something amazing.
If it is a series like Uncharted I am all for more realism but if it is a series like Gears I'm not because the gore is over the top which just doesn't appeal to me.
I know Witcher 2 is a much more polished game but I just really love the Fallout series this generation and have had nothing but a blast with both. At this point though I am looking really forward to a next generation Fallout:)
I recently finished Gears 3 and found myself struggling to complete the trilogy. I followed it up with my now sixth playthrough of Uncharted 2. The thing that struck me is the difference between a mature series like Uncharted and an "immature" series like Gears.
It was the gameplay of Gears that really influenced a lot of games this generation, in particular Uncharted but it was the team at Naughty Dog that were able to put together some amazing stories, beautifu...
What's sad is games like Mass Effect 3 and Killzone 3 adding on an unnecessary gimmick for an "accessory".
After Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect 3 I am hanging it up on gaming. If there doesn't come a time in your life where you decide to put away childish things then you need to reevaluate your priorities.
The fact is that regardless of your opinions on the original Xbox is that it was the foot in the door. Nobody could have guessed that after the domination of PS2 that Microsoft would be able to eventually put out a console that would outsell PS3 in North America and take about 50% marketshare world wide from Sony. That's huge in just a short time span. You may now disagree with facts.
