Stream a game? The author obviously means download because the only games I know of that can be streamed are Runescape and OnLive games.

It seems he means streaming video footage of games being played. Obviously that is completely fine and would not be covered by the bill. Recorded footage of publicly available software operating is not and cannot be copyrighted material. The copyright relates to the executable playable game itself and the assets and programming logic resourc...

duh, that would usually solve the problem. I'd say for most unreal engine games I've played that didn't help much.

Unreal Engine 3 takes the 2D cursor location from Windows, not the change in X and Y in units directly from your mouse hardware. Which means it's impossible to have smooth mouse movement outside a thin range of sensitivity/dpi ratios (not to mention a massive loss of precision). It took me about 20 minutes of messing with configs to find that swee...

Wow, a direct ripoff. They could have at least improved some things while they were at it. If they've stollen the code logic (by reverse engineering the Java) then that is illegal, if they have made everything from scratch then yay. I'm not sure if the official Minecraft will force Kinect use, but I doubt it :P

"Basically you pay more than PS3 or Steam users for every game you buy, just so you can play it online."

This ^.

Also, when you play multiplayer with XBL it only uses their servers to organise and report about the game, most of the bandwidth is between you and other players - not between you and Microsoft. Basically they are charging people to use each others' connections.

Not that there would be a better way to do it, running d...

Only one of the Sony attacks wasn't a DDOS attack - which can't be protected against with any kind of security (only by simply having many extra servers for extreme over-capacity use).

XBL most likely runs off Microsoft IIS servers, there is a new remote exploit found for IIS a few times a month - if Microsoft don't get a heads up in time (if the exploit is discovered by a black-hat) then they can't patch the problem. If it is more secure than PSN it must run ...

RAM at the moment. Both the PS3 and 360 could do a lot more gameplay-wise if they had more RAM. Taking a look at how much RAM my PC exclusive games use: Minecraft uses about 800MB-2GB (though it needs optimising, and it is in development for 360), Mount & Blade uses over a Gig because it has so much AI and physics, Black and White 2 with a huge city uses over 2 Gigs, again because of AI and physics. Terraria uses a gig in multiplayer mode with 4 people playing a large map.

The cost to develop a game that keeps up with this gen's graphical standard is large, so many games that might be great suffer because they spend too long/much working on graphics or the graphics/tech are dated so it doesn't sell well, this also stifles creativity because there is a lot at steak when they put resources into a project.

Still, for most developers to support next-gen graphics all they have to do is write new shaders and up the ima...

But the development costs, particularly for a console release, are huge these days - so the publishers don't want to take any risks.

"The problem, Watts said, was getting to grips with next generation technology, a hurdle"

Didn't they have the Unreal Engine to do all the hard stuff for them? It is extremely easy to use, and it is obvious how amateur their level developers are if you play any Mass Effect and have used the engine before, though 2 is far improved (you can tell that the Normandy was one of the first environments they made because the quality later on in the game is a lot better)....

Exploration? lol, that is one word I would struggle to imagine being related to Mass Effect. That is one thing that Mass Effect (1 and 2) needed far more of.

"oh look you can visit this randomly generated planet that has nothing on it... theres another one over there, and over there too!"

Bioware's older RPGs were far better than their new guff. Perhaps when they stop developing for the 360 they won't have a DVD limitation anymore so there m...
