Moore is talking about the choice of buying or not buying an add-on vs being forced into a build-in. He's not talking about a choice in format and EGM knows it. Now having said that, Moore certainly screwed up when he tried to reframe and manage the tact EGM was taking.

Wow, The Forza and GT series are bar none my favourite games, really looking forward to this, looks fantastic so far!

I wonder how this will affect the European launch? Sony has already shipped most of the units for launch. Will gamers wait knowing full well that the sixaxis will be dead in the near future or will they buy it knowing they will need to drop an additional $40-50 on a rumble controller in a couple of months... Sony should have ponied up a year and a half ago and had rumble from the get go. It would have saved them a lot of trouble.

I think that a big factor that is being overlooked here is the fact that many development tasks are outsourced to other companies to be completed. This could change the nature of these numbers...

Xi, best comment on this thread. I'm not interested in eye candy racing either. This game is pretty and it would probably have been an awesome party game if it had splitscreen but that's all its got going for it. Based on the demo and the review I'm thinking 8.5/8.6 for my tastes but I'll actually try the finished game before final judgement...

First, any extra download functionality is an improvement.
Second, this seems like rumour so far so why don't we see whether it's true or not before ripping on Sony again.

All this arguing and no one has even commented on the actual screenshot of the 360 and PS3 versions side by side(360 top). Here are my observations:

1. In the foreground you can pick out the shader improvements that Hines was talking about. The ground on the PS3 version looks more 'craggy' and for a further distance. Hines has already stated that this improved shader code will be released for the 360 version.

2. The comments people are making that the PS3 ha...

I think it's the right move for Sony considering their position but with some caveats...

First, I think they should have launched with the ps2 hardware solution in Europe. The people that are really vocal about this will surely mostly be early adopters and it would appease them.

Second, when they did it, some of the cost savings should have been passed on to the consumer. If they save $30 then make the ps3 $584.99 from $599.99 (insert appropriate dollar figure ...

Picture number 2 dude, picture number 2. http://www.ps3only.nl/scree...

I'll judge the game when I see it actually being played at the local retail outlet. For me, that is the true indicator.

Hmmm... this many failures for one individual seems improbable without some other factors.

Does he live in an area that has a lot of industry or construction? These types of loads on the local electrical grid cause power spikes and voltage drops...

Does he live in a home that is very dusty or owns one or more pets? This could cause the heatsinks to clog up resulting in poor cooling.

Other factors that could be affecting him: high humidity, yo...

The first three scenes are the only ones that are the same objects from the same angle in the comparison.

In the first scene (empty court) you can see obvious jaggies on the foreground net, background roadway etc. on the ps3. The background and palm trees are sharper on the 360.

In the second scene (palm tree) the 360 is clearly much sharper, crisper and the roof on the shack on the ps3 is showing obvious jaggies.

In the third scene (court surface...

oh man, make it stop...
If someone took their hacked xbox and put in some drivers so it would recognize the wiimote would it suddenly, miraculously become next-gen?

NO.

Yet the Wii is?! Please. I wouldn't even say that the Wii hardware is that innovative. The technology used for the controller has been around for a long time. Nintendo is just the first to adopt it as the standard. Innovative? No. Pioneering? Yes.

It's more than the ...

Umm... where are you getting this fictional 50% market share loss data?

vgcharts and nextgen wars are the only two sites that are 'estimating' worldwide sales and since neither detail exactly how their numbers are achieved or even have any professional statistical or enumeration experience that I can see for that matter, I have taken the average of the two to be fair:

360 - 61.6% market share
Wii - 28.6% market share
ps3 - 9.8% market share

Does this really surprise anyone? Timed exclusives have been around a long time and when bioshock was first shown we knew it was being developed for both consoles and pc. This is pretty much non-news.

Of course the ps3 has flash for the OS. So does the 360, xbox, ps2, ps1, psp, wii, gamecube, n64, snes, nes, ds, gameboy, dreamcast, saturn, sega mastersystem, 3do, ngage, etc, etc... if they didn't, then the os would simply disappear when the system turned off. Also, it doesn't matter how much power is required, it's more about how much is dedicated. 96MB of RAM and 1 spe is reserved exclusively for the OS. Games may never use these resources. EVER.

Probably the same reason all the ps3 owners add negative comments to the 360 articles. Unfortunately, pure fanboyism comes with the territory regardless of the system. The nintendo guys don't mix it up with the 360/ps3 crowd too much however... There's something to be said there, if I wasn't such a graphics whore I'd probably consider a nintendo system.

hmmm... take another gander at the Peter Hines response that you yourself posted fx35:

"In fact, the other reason why the downloadable content for the PS3 version of the game isn't included isn't >SOLELY< because of the technical limitations of the system"

Here's my take... The ps3 uses 96MB of ram for it's OS, the 360 uses 32MB leaving the PS3 with a 64MB deficit compared to the 360. Clearly, Bethesda has managed to shoehorn the game into the av...

Virtually every comparison between HD-DVD picture quality and Bluray picture quality have gone in favour of HD-DVD despite the fact that the most HD-DVD players don't have HDMI outputs (the newest models excluded).

In terms of the Movie Industry, Sony owns Columbia pictures, Tristar pictures, MGM, United Artists, Orion Pictures, Screen Gems, Triumph Films, Destination Films and obviously Sony Pictures which makes up approximately 30 percent of the entire movie industry. In ter...

The 360 has been out for 1year and 3months which is no where near 2 years. Also, sony released dev kits to developers during the E3 2005 time period, the same time frame that developers got 360 dev kits and ps3 hardware was finalized over 6 months ago. At E3 2005 games like resistance, motorstorm, lair and killzone 2 were already in development and Sony even released many videos that they claimed were running 'in engine, real time' at that time so really, how can games with 3+ years of deve...

It is my belief that dual format players will ultimately be the standard. Many aspects of this 'war' are mirrored in the war between DVD-R and DVD+R with both sides well entrenched. Hardware manufacturers started supporting both formats and now if a manufacturer doesn't support both then it is a major negative for the product.

The dual format LG player has appeared much earlier in the format war than DVD+R/DVD-R hardware appeared in it's respective war timeline and other comp...
