Waggle is a disgrace to the entire PS3 community. I wish he would stop.

Ummmmm... Larry...
Based on the links that you supplied yourself the numbers are:

PS3
1.32 million in EU
1.86 million in USA
1.13 million in JAPAN

360
3.32 million in EU
6.75 million in USA
.43 million in JAPAN

Doesn't that add to 4.3M PS3 vs 10.5M 360?

I mean, I agree it's not 8M but it's also not 4.9M... looks like 6.2M to me... atleast based on the links you supplied. Am I ...

Analysts are gamblers in the investing world. They look at the market and come up with a 'position' then invest accordingly. After making their investment, they release their findings to the community in an effort to sway opinion and maximize the chances of their investment (gamble) being successful.

Doesn't anybody ever find it interesting that there are no cases of analysts predicting that dual-format players will take over the market when prices start reducing? That's bec...

Wow, the majority of the Xbox community seems to either be indifferent or supportive about the idea of bioshock going multi-platform even when people are clearly trying to stir things up...

Why do so many in the playstation community get so rabid about exclusives? I know the majority of playstation guys are decent gamers just like me but the vocal ones are really obnoxious. Unfortunately, these few really smear the integrity of the community.

HD-DVD has the Thomson Film Grain technology built into it's standard. Only a few exclusive titles from Universal have used it to my knowledge (Apollo 13 for example).

Video compression relies on mathematical formulas to reduce file sizes. Unfortunately, film grain is completely random and compression algorithms destroy it. The film grain technology restores the grain after decompression and renders a smoother more film like picture. ONLY under these circumstances will HD...

Well, like any good consumer, you need to shop around.
http://www.pacificdisc.com/...

100,000 single layer hd-dvd $1.29
100,000 dual layer hd-dvd $1.45
100,000 single layer blu-ray $1.45
100,000 dual layer blu-ray ? yet another company that can't do it.

Actually, I had a lot of trouble even finding a company that mentioned dual layer blu-ray replication as a s...

Yeah cause giving bad scores to Lair and Warhawk are going to sell tons of PSM magazines and totally skyrocket his career.

What a moron.

It's unfortunate that the games aren't doing well with reviewers... atleast Heavenly Sword looks to be a great upcoming title.

This really enforces my belief that dual-format players will eventually reign supreme in this 'war' similar to the DVD-R/DVD+R compromise. The paramount announcement is huge. This actually gives HD-DVD more exclusive content:

HD-DVD Exclusive content: ~14,800 catalogue titles

I own a stand-alone HD-DVD player, stand-alone Blu-Ray player, 717 DVD discs, 21 HD-DVD discs and 5 Blu-Ray discs. I run an Optoma HD81 1080p DLP projector on a 120" Stewart Firehawk screen with a NAD 7.1 receiver and PSB speakers including two dual-10" woofers.

I am the first to admit that I am a huge videophile. The majority of Blu-Ray and HD-DVD releases are indestinguishable in terms of quality however some of the larger HD-DVD releases take advantage of the Tho...

Blockbuster is far from Blu-Ray exclusive. Approx. 1,700 locations only stock Blu-Ray for rental (they still sell HD-DVDs) but there are well over 5,000 locations which means well over 3,000 locations are still stocking both for rental (including my local blockbuster) plus anyone, anywhere can still rent HD-DVDs (or Blu-Rays) through their online service.

Edit: *GROAN* I just read the rest of the comments on here. It's devastatingly painful listening to people pledge allega...

I beleive that electronics in the UK are subject to more stringent manufacturing standards imposed by the government and are also forced to offer longer more fully featured warranties than in the US and so the price ends up being higher as well as taxes etc mentioned above...

I disagreed with you not because I don't think the PS3 can do it (because I believe it can), I disagreed with your comment on developers and this is a common theme that seems to resonate here on N4G. Whenever a multiplat game comes out and is at a higher level on the 360 everyone always says the devs are lazy but I disagree with this.

Here's my argument, I assume that both the 360 team and ps3 team at EA have similar skill levels and I also assume that both teams have been giv...

Physical media distribution isn't going anywhere for the same reason that we still have physical money. Psychologically humans value the tactile nature of the physical. It reinforces the concept of value that we assign things.

If only there were some magical device that played both formats, then this fanboyism would seem silly. Wait a second, Lg already built their 2nd generation dual format player and Samsung, Pioneer and Ricoh are also releasing dual format players!

The only people that are going to be screwed are the people that have devices which only play ONE format ie HD DVD standalone player owners, BluRay standalone player owners, PS3 owners (movie-related not game-related), and 360 HD DVD a...

Well, EngadgetHD tracks the releases every week and carries a running total as of July 31:

265 HD DVD titles
272 BluRay titles

People, simple logic dictates that if Universal stays exclusive past holiday 2007 then we will most likely see dual format players become the standard simply because dual format ...

Aren't the NPD numbers for the 360 between 200-300k every month in the
US alone? That's well over a million units in the US during the first 6 months without even counting the rest of the world. Where are these 'journalists' getting their information?

Edit: Hmmm, went and checked the numbers myself and several times the 360 dropped below 200k in the US so I corrected myself but they still sold 1.25M (1,248,000) in the US alone so worldwide has to be atleast 2M (pure g...

Good for Nintendo! They deserve some time at the top after the last couple of generations and even though the console doesn't interest me in the slightest, I can still respect it for what it is and welcome the new gamers being introduced to the industry by it.

I have to disagree, recalls are used for safety concerns, warranty is used for product defects. In your example, Firestone tires were recalled because their failure could result in death or injury. The RROD won't has no potential to cause either death or injury and so it should be covered as a warranty issue.

I think that it isn't acceptable that so many people seem to be having issues with their 360 (atleast based on anecdotal evidence) but Microsoft did do the right thing...
