They can do as they wish. We haven't given money for the third game or a pre-order. They take their games very serious and make sure to have the game release and have a great effect on the audience. They might not want to leak or tell what is going on because they want the announcement to hit with something HUGE.
The things they have shown are related to Portal AND Halflife.
Are you basically asking them to do this whole thing and make sure not to mention ANYTHING in the portal universe that is related to what is in the HL universe (which is the same one) just incase some people get butt hurt?
I cant wait for HL3 or Ep3 but this whole article/disappointment is ridiculous.
***SPOILER FOR HL SERIES***

Aperture Science is in HL2 though. The Borealis is a ship that is Aperture Science's and it is seen in HL2. The games are connected so for people to assume it means an HL announcement is coming and then getting MAD when it wasn't simply because the universes are the same is NOT Valve's fault.
I don't know, the snow texture is pretty flat looking and those trees, especially the one on the left that is close, you can clearly see it is just 2 flat tree pics that are intersected. Cars are great looking in GT5, but the environment is very lacking.
GT5 has motion blur too, just in replay mode when it drops to 30FPS and bumps up effects. Dirt 2/3's replay mode and gameplay mode are both 30FPS and both the same graphical level, IE motion blur in both.
This is JUST ABOUT the games menu and the HUD in the game, that's it...
“Scaleform...helped us raise the quality and performance of our in-game graphic interfaces for both the PC and console versions to a whole new level.”
"Crytek developers quickly crafted levitating 3D and stereoscopic 3D interfaces for “Crysis 2” by easily tilting and tweening Flash elements -- displays, menus, interfaces, and videos -- in 3D space."
Not all ...
This is what I know. I am actually glad that you thought this might be copy/pasted. I am a serious gamer, be it xbox/ps3/PC (Dad has a Wii and I play it sometimes at his place, I am just not into it, sorry!!!!).
I think the key to anything is knowing the facts (true facts, not opinion) and being able to say the pro and cons of ANYTHING. Be it a technique, game, PLATFORM, whatever.
I think this is more about bridging the gap than anything else. It may entice SOME PS3 customers, but at most, I think this is to encourage developers to use steamworks and you no longer have the issue of buying multiple copies of a game to play with different friends. Now you can all play together as long as the dev implements it.
That wont happen due to Sony.
Works like this, you buy Portal 2 on steam, no PS3 version since Sony would lose their cut.
Buy Portal 2 on PS3, Valve gives you a free version of the PC version and they still get a cut of the PS3 sale of the game.
Console game sales breakdown:
1. MS/Sony get a "royalty" cut from each game sold on their platform.
2. Publisher/distributor gets a cut as well, sometimes they get a large cu...
Or they are encouraging that whatever platform you are on, you should be able to play with whomever you want even if your friend is on a PS3 and you are on an xbox and if your other friend is on PC and another on on a Mac.....
Any developer can use steamworks. The point is if this shows PS3 devs (and hopefully MS devs too so they complain to MS to open up XBL) that if they use steamworks, they dont have to run their own leaderboard/matchmaking/friend s list and instead have this centrailized, free-to-the-user system that starts to blur the line between platforms.
Imagine Homefront using steamworks on PC/PS3/Xbox (again on xbox if MS stop being dumb) and being able to play it on your PS3 and with yo...
Correct.
Most people who never used Steam don't understand the difference between Steam and Steamworks.
Steam: Program that you download on PC that lets you buy and manage your games, friends list, private/group chat (txt or voice), unified server list (search for servers of ALL games or sort by what game you want and other filters.
Steamworks: A system that allows a developer to easily get matchmaking, server lists, friends lists, leader...
Because it is more complex than you are making it out to be?
Super Sampling AA
Subpixel data preserved and works on every surface and has no adverse effects besides HUGE performmance hit. This is the best quality AA method. Has different sample choices to choose performance/quality.
Multisampling AA
Subpixel data preserved and works on ALMOST all surfaces (alpha tested surfaces do not benefit, neither does "shader" aliasing on surfac...
Actually it depends on distance from the display AND the size of the display. A 1080P monitor at 24inches has very tiny pixels, but sitting 3 feet from it, you can see those pixels. Considering most console games run at 720P, a 1080P TV uses multiple pixels to make 1 dot (scaling) and that dot is bigger. AND the fact most people game on consoles with a 32-65inch TV, those pixels are even larger.
Personally, I game on my TV with both console and my PC and 1080P barely needs AA...
I would only argue that "camping" is an issue when there is an objective to the game mode besides deathmatch modes. If you need to move a flag or destroy a site (and you are the offensive team, not defensive) and half your team is sitting back in corners when we have no base or flag to defend, that is camping and just makes you lose.
Camping is not camping if you are hiding near a bomb site or base or flag and are defending it while the other half of your team is on...
I think they are disagreeing that not only was the first game not that short (nor was it a $60 standalone game) but they are also disagreeing due to the fact it has already been confirmed that Portal 2 is a full fledged game with an appropriate length for 60 bucks.
You could just run them on the PS3's browser or connect the PC to the TV? I just watched this on my 46inch, lol.
What you are talking about is subjective, "what LOOKS better". But the good thing about computer/video game graphics is you can objectively break it down to find out which is doing more things and at what quality levels. Some people think MGS4 is still THE BEST looking PS3 game. It comes down to taste.
However, the issue here is HHG blends his taste and what he states as "fact", hence the flamebait article.
I don't get how throughout the video he admits he doesn't know how to explain one looks better than the other, "pops out more, or the colors or somethin", and yet this is worth a video. How about someone who actually understands the difference between polygon count and texture resolution when talking about character models?
"In Crysis 2, you can see the details, easy. But in Killzone 3, they are just throwin it in your face. It looks that much more real...
Someone has never heard of limited editions of games that MANY devs do and Sony/MS/Activision/etc do with their games as well. I think you pay more for those and get extra stuff...ya know?
Portal 2 a free app for phone or Ipods? Not 60 bucks? Have you played it? Not even the first game should be free, it should be the price it is, $10.
You are a troll or someone who think things should be handed to them for free or an idiot.
