I'm gonna go out a limb and say that the reason it's 720 on XB1 is because Microsoft was behind the 8-Ball in terms of getting Dev Kits out. Reducing the amount of time programmers had to familiarize themselves and tap into the systems potential.
Heck some devs with games coming out on PS4 said they wanted to be multiplat but never got the dev kits to program for XB1. Sony got the jump and these early games will illustrate that pretty clearly.

Exclusives are certainly why people commit to a console, if they have no prior brand loyalty. Each console certainly has their own exclusives that make them tremendously appealing.
You are right that there is no incredibly discernible differences between the consoles, it's like a placebo for fan-boys.

I agree with you completely. There is such a tremendous emphasis placed on resolution and frame rate that most gamers overlook the necessity for great game play.

Represent your product in the best light. It is cloudy on visuals but illustrates gameplay. Wouldnt be suprised if this is EAs policy across every platform.

I had a couple RROD precursor double Red Ring scares this past weekend, my 360 elite was purchased mid 07, I popped it open and cleaned it out... it was way easier than anticipated.
I hope neither console has a similar draw-back. The future is definitely bright.
