I feel like people tend to mistake interesting villains with villains you can sympathize with.

Characters like the Origami Killer and Kain were interesting and egnaging, but I can honestly say that I never wanted the Origami Killer to get away and continue killing, or Kain to destroy the entire world.

They would not be "villains" if they were easy to sympathize with.

But just imagine how impressed the chicks will be when you bring them back to your room and they see all these. Just imagine the greatness it will bring you.

We'll just have to disagree then. I'm far from the kind of guy that wants a story spoon-fed to me, but I also think it should exist within the game space, outside of a wiki page. There were a few hints here and there in the game, but for the most part the narrative was just absent, not hidden away.

The most telling thing I can say is that reading the actual mythology online gave the game a very cool context that I didn't get on my first play through. I've kind...

I've gone through just about every fix imaginable. The best I've done is move all my games to an ssd, but the textures still pop up very noticeably when I pan left and right.

And even if i did find an honest to god fix, it should not be my responsibility in the first place. This is not a problem that falls to the consumer to fix.

I gotta tell ya. If I could find a way to fix the texture streaming issue in the PC version, I would probably buy this, but it's just too damn distracting to play the game for me at this point.

Edit: ah, nevermind.

...I dunno. I think they could subtract two from that thing and it would still look fine.

There's a difference between presenting a cryptic narrative in which players can draw subjective conclusions, and...hardly presenting a narrative at all, requiring extraneous research. Having read up on the narrative myself, I can honestly say that it made me that much sadder that it wasn't incorporated into the games in the first place. It adds a lot to the creepy, isolated atmosphere of the game

A happy medium can be reached without resorting to long bouts of dialog...

Yeah, the tutorial thing they really do need. What worried me a little was when Shibuya admitted that he thought he could improve the gameplay because had worked on a lot action games in the past.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but with all the talk of making the game more accessible and now a new director that thinks he can improve a combat system that I think most of us already think is one of the best in the industry, things are just a little...worrying. Sort of remin...

Kinda wish they'd fix that fivehead though.

Yeah, all slutiness aside, the hair, eyes and clothing just looks a lot more accurate to the game's aesthetic, I think.

And even if they DO notice it, it will be for the decidedly more tame animal abuse and not the torture/rape/killing of humans in the game.

I don't remember any ANIMALS getting torture raped by a disgruntled Aussie in the game. WHERE'S THE LOVE FOR THE HUMAN RACE, PETA!?

Presentation was definitely the game's strong suit. The soundtrack is criminally underrated.

Yeah, I'm not buying into this bullshit again. D3 was enough to convince me that "always-on" gaming is absolutely terrible and unnecessary outside of online multiplayer.

*Spoilers*

This article isn't even about the sex scene, just fyi. This is about the off-screen rape of one of Jason's buddies by the crazy Aussie slave driver and Ubisoft's inability to contextualize or bring any real meaning to the "atrocities" that transpire in the game.

And to a degree, I agree with that sentiment. I mean it's still one of my favorite games of the year, but I felt like a lot of the violence and sex and general ins...

A little off-topic, but...good god, that new design for their site is ridiculously bad.

Agree, and even beyond that a big part of horror games is immersion, and immersion is a LOT harder to maintain in any multiplayer environment. I mean, you can still get into games, but when you're playing multiplayer, you're PLAYING A GAME. You're not immersing yourself in it because that other voice is continually pulling you out of it.

Does that make sense to anyone else? Is it just me?

Or Torchlight 2, which really feels like more of a sequel to Diablo 2 than Diablo 3 ever did.

Yeah, I hope to god they do away with the auction house AND the "always on" BS if they bring it over.

Blizzard keeps saying that they didn't tweak the drops in the game to facilitate the usage of their AH, but I still have my doubts. It is very, VERY time consuming to get through Inferno without resorting to the auction house at some point.

Tornquist was thinking about kickstarting some episodic Longest Journey content in the future, last I heard.
