"so give me cinematic, over the top visuals and games" - well made stories and systems are implied but not implicit in that statement; sorry if that wasn't entirely clear. I want all the benefits of narrative, game-play etc from THIS gen, and NEXT gen, just a bump up in graphics. No motion controls, no gimmicks. We have tablets and such for all that crap. No one really uses Move, Kinect has proven stillborn once its launch wore off (like 2 million in a year and a half after the ...

Except the cost for "better graphics" isn't as prohibitive these days as technology (core clocks, GPUs) has been relatively less explosive and has hit a bit of a ceiling when compared to previous gens.

So to make a 1080p, 60 FPS box next gen requires minimal financial effort. A few devs have gone on record saying that next gen could be "cheaper" than previous ones, so I'm not sure where the author is getting his information from. If MS and Sony go ...

Well if MS and Sony (especially the latter, though from the Vita hardware using off the shelf stuff, it looks like they learned their lesson) are smart with their architecture, all we'll have are mid range PCs optimized with a minimal OS overhead and tuned toward graphical output.

So there's no "porting" really, just transferring from a development environment (PC) to another PC.

Nice catch. That is the lowest form of journalism and not the first time its poisoned N4G if true. Reviews and opinion pieces should stand on their own mertis, not through some bs upvoting like we see on Amazon.

A wise man once said: "Expecting a reasonable conversation on N4G, is about as futile as expecting a reasonable conversation in the comment section on YouTube."

Go to Siliconera, Massively or any of the smaller, less sensationalist sites if you want a real discussion. (I only named those I frequent each and as they're well-policed and neutral sites that don't tolerate any of this console war nonsense.)

Well the irony is that any number of journalists at Eurogamer or in media outlets elsewhere are guilty of accepting swag bags, preview "parties" - more party than preview, free consoles or games from every manufacturer and publisher on the planet.

Its hard to play whistle-blower when you have your hand in the cookie jar. Seems capricious. The whole system is corrupt. They only credible "news" you can get from video games journalism are screenshots and...

Focus will naturally return once all three next gen platforms are out and raking in the $. This gen has simply gotten too old for some and they gone off to dally on PC, tablets, whatever. Most consumers will return.

And a next gen CoD/ Halo/ Mario/ Drake will see to that.

iPad 4, really? Its fine to do 1/2 year refreshes if your products don't cost $500 or more. Only Apple gets away with this sort of consumer-fleecing.

They've even pulled iPad 3s from their official website and only sell them as "refurbished" now lol

I will never buy an Apple product again. And 2-3 years in now, the platform hasn't proven itself a viable or capable a device for anything other than social games.

For the "special" people that keep sending me PMs.

1.) Go to the actual IGN article, Read it.
2.) Follow the link that they use IN THEIR OWN ARTICLE, the same that I also linked. It is dated January 2011.

Here things get complicated depending on if you can count to 12 on your fingers and toes or not. For some, this is apparently a challenge.

3.) Count the calendar months between January 2011 and January 2012. If you pass...

A correction is outstanding. And it goes to the a average person's reading skills that this hasn't been caught. Again IGN is spinning for hits. The 50 million article referenced on IGN's own website is listed January 2011 just after MS' 2010 Xmas quarter. The 70 million is after SEVEN quarters: Jan 2011-Sept 2012.

Considering how he's an over-entitled, self-indulgent, ego-maniacal d-bag, I hardly think Activision is a stretch or a poor choice for a partnership for Cliffy.

People forget that he was just the mouthpiece that rode on the back of some really talented people at Epic, not the source of that talent himself.

It's called a 40% price cut in 6 months paired with a MH domestic release. That is all. I'm curious to see how much traction it has and how far the 3DS goes now that they've reasonably exhausted the price card. Traditionally a MSRP cut of that magnitude doesn't come till far later in a console's life cycle. The support from Western publishers on either handheld is alarming (though a bit better on the Vita with big franchises headed into Xmas).

Says the man who peddled SWTOR (2.5 million units and counting for that lame WoW rip-off). At this point after the explosion of hyperbole this gen, I think that fans of every publisher/ console-manufacturer can all agree that any time someone in the industry speaks, whatever their product, they are usually full of $hit.

I'm not an advocate of piracy, never have been, but I'd consider custom firmware if they got remote play running. Pretty sure it was done on a hacked PSP, so I hardly think the Vita would be out of the question.

That was the main feature for buying a Vita at launch, having a full console library on the go without tablet controls - sadly that dream was never quite realized. A couple of patches for upscaled PS2 games doesn't quite make the cut either.

I love to see the same logic applied to an FPS. But such is never the case. Mob (shooter) mentality rules, sadly.

For $30 this game can't be beat. Says A LOT that I'm going back and forth between this and GW 2 (which is incredible).

It just preference. There's really no lines to read between. I like my stories to march onward. I've never been into flashbacks or re-visitations of history; it simply doesn't engage me. I'm not talking about the mechanics at all, moreover the narrative. GoW's mechanics have always been beyond reproach and enjoyable. In fact its the gameplay that allows me to trudge through another "Krato's greatest moments" title.

Ideally, GoW 4 will ...
