720p? Riiiiight. If we where talking any other scenario here, including Switch, PC gamer's would be laughing at the prospect of playing @720p. PC gamer's spend $1000's on building rigs sometimes even more than a $1000 on a GPU alone, just to Ultra 4K, but now 720p is okay. If you say you're happy with that, then I see no reason to doubt you. The majority however, nah, just not gonna happen.

Standard SSD is SATA based, NVMe is PCIe based -Massive difference depending on version. Go look at the figures.

Isn't it a two Teraflop GPU?

I don't think the comparison between CD/DVD's is a fair one. And it's not Phil Spencer or 'gamepass' type subscription services that cause the problem for game preservation, imho. If you buy a music CD or Movie DVD - which incidentally, I do, then these can be preserved, because they will not change after purchase ie you won't be getting updates to a movie or music CD. On the other hand if you buy a game on disc, which often these days is nothing more than a licence, t...

For those arguing over Win Vs Linux, bare this in mind. As an OS, Linux is better no doubt, but as a gaming platform, windows is better. Not because Windows is inherently better, but because it has better support. Don't believe me? Look at your Steam library and see how large it would be if you only had Linux to run your games on. My library would be cut by 60-70%

And sadly, that's likely to be the best you'll get from PC games running on Steam Deck. C'mon it's very old tech (PS4 level) and a retrograde step imo. Now if they made something comparable to a half decent gaming laptop in a hand held form factor then Valve would have a serious proposition, but not this.

Comparisons to the Switch are pointless. None of Nintendo's games will be on this device. As for PC games, they'll run like crap. Unless you think an Xbox one or PS4 could run those very same game at levels you would be happy with, because that's the power level we're talking about here.

Gabe: We made a steam box, but nobody wanted it. In six months. Gabe: We made a Steam Deck, but....
Who is this aimed at? PC gamer's get a PC in preference to a console so they can play games on powerful rigs. This is not a powerful rig, and won't play PC games anywhere near the quality most PC gamer's would want I'm guessing. We'll see, but personally, not even slightly interested.

I think you're the one blowing smoke on this occasion. MS, invented the OS ,as we know it today. For a company that only follows, they seem to be doing extraordinarily well, unlike other oh so 'innovative' companies. But hey ,whatever.

I for one, right from when it was first announced, praised Sony for it's forward thinking controller. However, if MS does follow suit they should learn from the problems inherent in Sony's controller and develop one that doesn't break quite so easily.

I'm still a little sceptical about sales figures, because in order for PS5 to be 'dominating' in the usual sense of the word Sony, would have to be supplying many more units than MS, right? So where are all these units coming from? Neither Sony,MS, NVIDIA or indeed AMD, can supply their product to market due to limitations on production. So how come Sony appears to be able to buck this trend? But whatever.

What I do find interesting however, is that Series S can...

Yeah, I spent many a year with my employers NOT being made to do stuff, but guess what? There's more than one way to skin a cat! (That's just a saying! I've no idea if it's true I've never tried to skin one. Phew!)
Just like 'Crunch' is purely optional I guess. Anyway, three strikes and you're out, I say. Name me any game or movie for that matter that produced a good fourth outing.

Yeah, maybe. However, there's occasionally a bigger picture that should be taken into account which may effect more than just Apple and Epic, and that's the greater good. Now I'm not making any legal argument, because I'm not qualified to do so, but sometimes if what's written in to a contract isn't at least fair and reasonable to all parties then it should at least be scrutinised.

An example that most of us encounter quite often is the concept of &#...

I've got to be honest, the financial implications of the take over are not what concerns me. I'd be interested to hear of any EA acquisition that's improved under their leadership. 'Dirt,' indeed.

Yeah, I think the article was about Direct ML. Anyway, this could be a big win for MS, and I say MS, rather than just Xbox because this API is part of Direct X ultimate, which will be used on both MS consoles and Windows PC's. That's big! Ports between PC and console, and console to PC will both take advantage of Direct X ultimate, and so by implication Direct ML. Sony, won't have this. That's not to say they won't have an equivalent, it's just Devs using Direct X, wil...

Of course you're correct. I'm not suggesting Zenimax wasn't valued at that, or that it's not a good purchase from a business perspective. I mean I'll benefit as an Xbox/PC owner. it's just with the knowledge of our world as it is I just find it difficult to accept this much money being spend on a video games company. I'm old enough to know the world will unlikely ever be as it should be - fair an equitable, but seeing such an obvious example of excess makes me pau...

Years in the making! Years in the making he says. $7.5 BILLION for a games company. I mean, seven and a half.. Nah, I'll never get my head around this acquisition. Some of the greatest advances in science and technology haven't come close to costing that much. And this, for a games company. Okay, whatever.

I agree. Even the early access was at full RRP. TBH, with so many updates that make your current saves incompatible you're better off waiting for full release.

Okay maybe Sony should buy them. I don't mind either way as long as they get to console!
