I was looking forward to buying it on PC a few years ago, I might be picking it up, but seriously, September? Civ 5 is coming out in September and I'll definitely be picking this one up. Then there's Dead Rising 2, Test Drive Unlimited 2, FFXIV, FEAR3 and Sesame Street: Elmo's A-To-Zoo Adventure.
So if I understand correctly all slims (PS3 and 360) shut down after a while as to not damage internal parts.
It's trivial to argue about which one can play the longest in a closed environment, any gamer that'll play for days on end will not have it's console in a closed environment, this test is grasping at straws.
I completely agree with you Yi, you cannot say that the industry lost money on every downloaded copy...that's just idiotic.
If anything their anti piracy measures hurt the legitimate users more. I think it all revolves around the price point, most gamers cannot afford all the games they want to play at 70$ a pop.
If games were at around 30$, which in my opinion is the price point that justifies a impulsive buy, there would likely be many more sales.

Cez, those lawsuits were very legit, if you can remember...MS had a monopoly, they were using methods for interoperability that only them knew therefore making their applications run better, effectively killing competition. Word Perfect says hello.
Also they were packaging some applications with Windows that prevented competition for Browsers and email.
It's kinda like if say Ford was the only producer of gasoline, had a way to make their cars run be...
It's actually quite simple...
Bring Kinect for the casuals, drop the 360 price down as much as possible, bring in a new XBox in 2012 that's compatible with kinect and keep both consoles on the market...360 with low price point geared for the casual market and a new flagship consoles for the real gamers...just like PS2 and PS3 this gen.
Expect sony to do the same again.
But also, Sony are in a better position to implement 3d from a technical stand point...ALL Ps3 skus can support 3D, this is not true of 360s. First there's the whole HDMI 1.4 being needed issue then there's the not having HDMI on all skus issue as well.
I think we should be happy that Sony is spending all that money on 3D tech, let them work out the kinks and maybe next gen we'll have something that's working properlly and hopefully without glasses, demand ...
We're asking them for two games for the price of one if we expect both modes to be as deep and polished. Most studios can't afford that, so one mode gets gimped or worst both. But it's our fault as gamers, we ask for that by purchasing more of the games that have both modes.
I believe GOW collection plays in 1080p60 not 720p60 (as stated in the article)...unless it upscales or something, but my TV tells me its 1080p when most other games say 720p.
Anyone else can vouch for that?
Well everyone said is was a bad thing when Nintendo changed the name from Revolution to Wii...and now this seems like it was a good move.
The reason Apple products sell is because they work well.
I'm not saying Natal won't work well, but not all touch devices work as well as Apple products. Let's cross our fingers that Microsoft did their homework.
I don't think Natal will fail as some hope, but it probably won't be an epic success. I predict that Natal will have higher sales than Move this year, but that Move will eventually sell more in the long run. Here's why, Nintendo and Sony have a similar motion control scheme, which means that a lot of future and possibly past 3rd party Wii games will be ported over, some as PSN titles others as full titles. Since Sony will have some of it's current games retrofitted to work ...
I played a game similar to ricochet at a Hockey convention, we'd put on goalie equipment and try and stop incoming pucks. It wasn't a console game, but there was a camera that filmed, you saw yourself (your shadow) on the tv and blocked the pucks using your body...the pucks didn't ricochet though...did I mention that it was back in 1990, 20 years ago.
Oh and the Stanley Cup was right beside the game, yes the real one...I even have a picture of me with it.
The best way to combat piracy is to fight it on the same turf...online.
PC gaming is fine, PC game retail is not.
Still have my VooDoo 5 in a closet somewhere, it was a beast back then. I took it out a few years ago and was able to run GTA Vice City...I had to download custom drivers for it but it ran at reasonable resolution, it only crapped when it rained in the game...the card couldn't render the water effect on the road...thank god there is a cheat to make it sunny.
In any case let's say you get caught...it's a "maximum" of ten years, first offence, you're not going to jail, you get fined.
Now let's just say that you had a modding factory and was selling the modded consoles, had been caught before for something similar and slept with the judge's wife...Then you might get ten years...if you have good behavior while inside, you're out in less than two...that's canada's incarceral system...a joke.
Nothing to get wor...
Crysis is known for it's graphics, it's Crytek's flagship title and still a benchmark for graphics today. Crytek will need Crysis 2 to look the best it can if it wishes to retain that graphical supremacy. Knowing Crytek, I'll file this one under plausible.
Remember that the people that hack consoles are not gamers that want to play for free, most of these guys are techies that just want to be able to run homebrew on them, and get recognition for being the first to hack it(who's GeoHotz? the guy that Jailbreaked the iPhone)...that's how it starts...but why would they need to do it on PS3, they let you run homebrew using OtherOS.
Until now...I'm guessing that as we speak there are a bunch on modders that are working hard to be the on...
The meat here is not that PS3 would have ME1 & 2, it's that MS would likely not have ME3 exclusivity...now that would hurt!
EA Plan:
1.Get PS3 gamers to know ME universe with ME 1 & 2
2.Make decent profit
2.Bring ME3 as multiplat
3.Make HUGE profit!
Expect to see lots of titles being re-released for Move...I for one don't own the PS2 or Wii version and am looking forward to this game being done on PS3...I'll put my money on a port of the Wii version, HDed a la God of War Collection...for 19-29$
I'm looking forward to Move, it seems to be what I was hoping the Wii would be...I was so let down by the Wii's clumsy responsiveness, even if it's better with motion plus, but sadly most games don't use it because it's an add-on.
