How about that, another game from Crytek that even the fastest GPU on earth can't run at max settings for more that 22FPS.
The only reason I'll buy this game is because I have two 8800GTX in SLI and can probably get playable frame rates at Enthusist and because its dirt cheap...would not pay 60$ for this.
And for those who don't get it, google dosen't care about Valve studios, it's Steam that they want...Newell will just take the money and start a new studio with all the same guys (unless google wants to keep him)...just like he did when he cashed out on MS...BTW HL was self financed.
At last an effort to distribute PC games digitally on a large scale...This is exaclty what PC gaming needs...Take Steam, make it a tad better and provide huge amount of games over screaming fast bandwith...hopefully at a reduced price...without DRM...and on top of it all its google, the Anti-Microsoft...anyone for the upcoming Digital Distribution War, I don't know about you, but I smell competition, which is all the better for us customers.
I totally agree with you, the best DRM is added value through DLC, Mutli-Player (a la CoD4), and User Content Sharing, or combinations of these.
But most of these have also been cracked before.
You can download the DLC for Oblivion on torrents.
You can play WoW on cracked servers.
not sure about User Content Sharing.
Most do put up with it, but as long as DRMs exist people will crack them and some of us will use them cause it makes the game so much better...that does not mean we did not buy the game, we still need the Key for multi-player.
I agree that piracy on PC is pretty bad, but its not as bad as they'd like us to believe...1 pirated dowload != 1 lost sale.
I download the crack for some of the games that I buy, just because I don't like to put DVDs in the machine, I want to play now...and the DRM crap is gone as well.
You know I'm all for new consoles and stuff, but the thing that worries me is that it takes like 3 to 5 years to make a AAA title for the current gen consoles...how long is it gonna take to make the life like Next-gen games.
How many games will be at launch, how much will it cost to develop those super games? will there be a point where it is just too expensive to make that billion polygon charater...even if the hardware can take it...I mean just look at average development ti...
I think this guy is bang on the money, his deductions are also correct. I've said it for years people download games cause its fast, easy, cheap and you do get the better version (no cd to play, no DRM).
Now this guy's solution is to remove DRM and sell his games cheaper, this removes at least one issue with games today (DRM) and if the price is right may sell a lot more.
What the industry needs is a true universal digital distribution model where a gamer can easi...

I should be able to go to an online store and be able to buy ANY game I want and instantly start to download it through a super fast connection to my PC, I should then not have to worry about DRM, online activation or any of that crap a be playing within minutes....all that for under 30$.

I used to build my own rigs too, but I got tired of trying to find all the parts that I wanted (at the right price)...Then I found this web store that basically builds your rig for you...with no OS or anything installed, all you gotta do is plug the wires when you get the machine. The guy can stop bullets with his eye, but scorpion's hook will somehow penetrate. Sub-zero will freeze him, but the guy lives in Antarctica for god's sake. And for some reason punches and kicks will hurt him.
I agree that there are more title coming on the PS3 than titles that have come out...this is exaclty my point...people don't look forward to PS4 because it seems like the best is still to come...or have a feeling that it's still in it's infancy. Compare that to the 360 where we've seen what the machine is capable of. This does not mean that there are no great games coming out, but I don't see it being able to compete against the PS3 graphically in 2010.

It's not hard to see why we are looking forward to xbox720, I'm still waiting to see what the PS3 will be capable of once it's maxed, we know the best games are still to come. As for the 360, I mean I like it but I can't see anything much better coming out graphically speaking, the general consensus is that it's been maxed.
Maybe we're just expecting too much of the PS3 and it'll be shown to be only slightly better than 360. In any case you can bet that you'll be reading PS...
Man PC gaming is far from Dead...yes it's more expensive than consoles, but you get much, much better visuals, you can get 60fps (or more) and 1080P(equivalent) on all(except Crysis) games. Most of those games were bought at a lower price than their console counterparts. I use a XBox 360 contoller for some games, Keyboard and mouse combo for PFS and RTS games and stearing whell for racing games.
We get most of the console games including lots of MS exclusives we can play back...

I would not change my 8800 GTX for this card (unless it was free of course), as I don't think the human eye can see the difference between 90 fps and 120 fps. Unless you're running on a 30in display this isn't needed right now.
I'll probably just buy another 8800 GTX when I need more juice later on.
2 options:
- continue fighting it to the teeth, aleniate your paying user base and fail miserably because someone will always break it anyways.
or
- sell the damn games at a reasonable price (30$), make their purchase easier (Download) and add downloadable perks that only paying customers will be able to get (Added Value). Basically, make it easier to buy a game than download a pirated one.

I loved my XBox1...I never owned a PS2, the Xbox was great for me...best graphics, best controller, best online, HDD, lots of good games, at the end they were making games that could not be done on the PS2...and then they just killed it, no ceremony no nothing...they just dropped it like it was hot...Thanks MS.
Did I buy a 360? no sir...do I hate the 360, not at all, but I wont let MS do that to me twice...I bou...
