Actually we'll be seeing some major changes in PC gaming in the coming years as Intel prepares to battle ATI and Nvidia with their Larrabee GPGPU.

Good times are a coming.
Dude, don't use pirating as a good reason to game on the PC, it makes all of us PC gamers look bad even though most of us do pay for our games, it's just bad for PC gaming.
Actually it's PhysX with an "X" and no "i". It's physics calculations done on the GPU instead of the CPU...which is much faster at calculating than a CPU and therefore permits extra effects that would bog down the CPU.
Dude, I hope you meant 6'2"...
Let's just say that ODST has some big shoes to fill, I don't think anyone should be worried, it's going to rock, but if for some reason it isn't on par with previous Halo games, the backlash will be pretty bad.
on topic: Why would the game be released 4 weeks from now if it's already at retailers, and if that's true, we'll likely see more leaks before release and obviously it'll be available for download soon...All I have to say is that this sucks.
This is typical of the media, lump everyone in the same stereotypical group so that the average joe can understand/see himself.
Just like the whole Liberal/Conservative thinking, they let you think that most conservatives are Bible thumping, Gun totting idiots and the Liberals are elitist Commies that want to give free abortions in schools.
There certainly are people like that but those are the extremes, and in the case of video games, these people are the very voc...
True, very true, but let the mainstream media talk all they want it just brings the fact that the PS3 has a lower price point than before and a new model that's now the talk of the town.
Parents and soft-core gamers (yeah I just made that up) don't care/understand the whole console war, I'm pretty sure lots of them think this is a new console altogether. What they do know is that the new PS3 is a hot item and that it was expensive and it's now cheap(er), to them it's a deal. ...
I have to agree that GTAIV is a technological masterpiece with regards to graphics, the city is alive and extremely detailed. There are some things that could be better in the game play department, but I personally enjoyed the game very much. Does it belong on that list? I think so, there is no such thing as a perfect game.
Note: I played GTAIV on PC which has amazing graphics when maxed out and I haven't played the console version so I can't really comment on frame rate issues...
Wow, just wow...I guess I didn't do this on many PCs after all, this guy says it's not possible.
It's true that you can't build a decent gaming rig (that'll last a few years) for 199$, but that being said, who dosen't already have a PC at home...nobody. just add a freakin 9800GTX in there for 120$ and 4GB of Corsair RAM for 70$, that'll put your 360 and PS3 to shame.
You're screwed if you own a laptop.
Any publicity is good publicity, what people may get from the article is not that Sony is doomed but more likely that the most expensive console just dropped price!!! Will it stop people from buying a PS3? I don't think so.
As for PC gaming being expensive, most people have PCs at home that they change every 4-5 years, right...just add the price of a console + controllers, etc to the price of a regular PC and build yourself a mid range gaming rig.
GPUs are cheaper now days, thanks to healthy competition, and if you don't want the latest and greatest you can manage to build a decent gaming rig for around 700-800$ with some shopping around.
If this is Natal on current 360 Hardware, it will be cheap, probably an arcade + Natal at 200$. Remember they're competing against the Wii with Natal not the PS3...I don't expect Natal games to require an HDD.
you're right, mine's still chugging along just fine...but that was a PC, if you open it up, it's mostly sligtly modified PC hardware, hence the durability (proven tech), but that was also the reason they dropped it, they did not own the rights to the hardware and could not get the price to go down.
That being said, their first venture into designing their own hardware did not turn out as good...but unless greed has the better of them (knowingly releasing shoddy hardware), they ...
OBLIVION...
If that game can use it, I'm sold.
didn't they say it could be backward compatible?
This won't help piracy at all!!!
Cause to me 'all types of gaming other than the ‘casual/party’ genre' is not Hardcore gaming, that's just stupid...To me, it's a measure of how a game can be taken seriously by people that play it...A game can be both Casual and Hardcore at the same time, it all depends how someone plays it. Take Guitar Hero for example, is it hardcode? depends, in order to just play and have fun with friends, no, in order to beat the game at Expert? hell yeah!
I never played CookingMama, but I...
MS could decide to go Flash memory instead, think about it, you can get a SD card pretty cheap now days, image in another 2-3 years. They have 64GB cards available, so I would not be surprised to see a comeback to a cartridge of some sort...you could save your games right on the card...and it's read/write speed just kicks DVD and BD out of the field.
Most people that criticize this are just pointing out that this is creating precedence, like MW2 being 10$ more. It will work and MS will make the biggest profit margin of any Halo game. This is the most blatant money grab I have even seen aside from the Oblivion Horse Armor.
What do you think will happen next....it's called precedence and everyone's just okay with it...I personally like Halo but will not buy this game out of principle.
