...it's just an 'impressions' piece. Lame.
This article's description is a bit over-exaggerated. The article more simply states game prices are too high yet doesn't offer too much insight on the developers position, or the future of the industry.
The most interesting point was regarding Steam, I definitely believe rather than reducing prices, adding more value at current prices would better solve this issue. Hopefully we can get a more comprehensive analysis of this kind of business model.
Great, I've always wanted to game with grandma's online. Thank god MS is looking after us hardcores.
...using the term 'innovation' simply for progress works in some business circles, but in reality things are determined 'innovative' when they take a current product and derive something new and different which generates new revenue streams.
Going from cartridges to CDs didn't get more people into gaming, like say the Wiimote did. People didn't all of a sudden take up gaming because of the analog stick, rather the Nintendo-led unique game design found ...
...but there are a couple cop-outs in here:
3D Gaming: Not innovative, this was the natural progression of technology and game design. Super Mario 64 was arguably innovative not because it was in 3D but because it showed developers how to design games in 3D.
Analog Stick: Same thing, a natural evolution of the D-Pad (which is an important innovation) and even technically came before the D-Pad (in that sense it IS innovative, but this makes the D-Pad more of a...
...after playing the demo and watching this, I'll be passing on Flopdown--I mean Crackdud, er...nevermind.
...he doesn't like LIVE, he isn't making money from it.
Even though we're paying $60 for LIVE MS still nickels and dimes us for themes, avatar items and micro-DLC. Imagine if Activision got a hold of this model, they'd be charging us for perk-access, prestiging AND have monthly fees!
Compared to B-Kot, MS is the lesser of two evils.
...is one of the greatest game-design achievements ever.
*From a shooter perspective*
It allows gamers to enter every situation with full health which adds another layer of skill to the mix. If two players meet (assuming both's health has regen'd) it's always the better player that will come out on top. Without regenerating health one of those players could have been injured from a previous battle which gives the other (maybe lesser) player an adv...
HaVoK308's clearly a 360 fanboy, look at his previous comments:
- Gears is his favourite franchise
- Alan Wake is triple AAA and more fun than UC2
- UC2: all it had was pre-rendered backgrounds
- KZ2 biggest disappointment of his life
- Sony lost E3 (or, in his words, "left the weakest impression")
- Said that all Sony did at E3 was bash MS, at least MS showed some products
- Claims the 360 can do 3D 'cept &quo...
His over-the-top 12-year-old gangsta humor is funny.
@Lionhead:
Here at N4G we talk about games, sorry if that bothers you. Milo's that way --->
Prone leads to run-prone-shoot gaming (see Battlefield 2). CoD is too fast paced for prone to break the game, but in BC2 it would be murder.
Thank Jesus, our lord and saviour almighty, for no prone.
Just grabbed Pix'n Love Rush. Niiiiiice.
They may be done with the Call of Duty franchise, but you can bet their next game will be 'Duty Calls: 21st-Century Combat'.
They forgot one thing: no good upcoming 360 games (outside of Reach).
Bought the X-COM and Commando's pack. What a steal.
Yeah, Bioshock was a good one-game. Too bad they made a sequel so quickly. If they gave it 4-5 years it would have been an exciting release.
I think you're a little over confident there. MS knows Kinect (outside of Reach) is one of the last, biggest pulls they have for the 360. It's all or nothing at this point. Sony however, has an expanding library of exclusive games and franchises, not to mean recent DLC announcements.
Sony doesn't need Move to win, they need Move to capture some of the casual market. MS needs Kinect for it's survival.
Nintendo grappled the casual market, but thankfully they understand core gamers not only buy a ton of games, they also increase brand loyalty far more than mom & pop casuals.
Microsoft is a marketing powerhouse, that's their biggest asset by far. Sony's gotten better over the years, but it seems like they're betting on word of mouth to carry Move.
Also keep in mind mainstream games will support Move, so eventually consumers will get used to seeing 'Playstation Move Support' on the game boxes and start asking questions. Meanwhile Microsoft needs to shove Kinect down people's throat since a majority of gamers won't even ...
I wanted Perfect Dark Zero to be good. So disappointing.
