Microsoft was happy to pay for the technology, until Motorolla started giving it away to Microsofts competitors.

You obviously missed where Microsoft lost a pantent infringment case to a tiny little patent troll company and had to stop shipping Microsoft Word for a number of weeks until they paid the patent troll company a couple billion dollars, and removed the offending bit of code. Like just a year ago.
This is serious, and not a game. If you want a ps3 and don't ahve one yet, get it soon, they are gonna be hard to come by in a few weeks.
LG has patents on a number of blu-ray data stream processing techniques. LG says that Sony is using those patented techniques in the PS3. A court in Holland has agreed that that LG's claim has at least some merit. They ordered their customs agents to seize all the ps3s coming into the country for 10 days.
LG has also filed a patent related lawsuit in the US. Since the one in Europe has at least some merit, this one probably has some merit as well.

If you tried running Vista on your integrated Intel graphics chip that was "Vista capable" Vista was slow and clunky, no doubt about it. If you ran it on a proper GPU it worked great.
I do media creation on my PC, and it was nice to have a proper windows pc that allowed for more than 3gig of ram.

I dunno, I kinda like the type of gameplay that RDR has, no pressure to grind, the missions are story based rather than a boring statistics grind. I only wish they would have more varied stories like in Fallout or Oblivion, rather than the one mostly linear story.

I wondered about that as well, and it seems that the point of import IS the Netherlands, so if the PS3's never make through customs in Holland, they never make to the rest of Europe as well.
And we are on day three of the injunction, and Sony hasn't said didly squat about it yet, so LG will probably get an extension.

I don't see why people keep saying that you can't compare apples and oranges... They are both roughly the same size, they are both edible. They are both roughly round shaped, they both grow on trees, etc..
