Take that back, back when I had an iPhone 3g I played the tower defense games that were available on the platform, but every other type of game had the problem that your fingers were in the way.
The iPod killed the portable cassette and cd player, but after that, yeah, I am having trouble seeing any other iDevice as anything other than mildly interesting...
This iPad, it doesn't replace your phone, your computer, your laptop, your tv, your books, your newspapers, your magazines, or your videogame console yet it performs all of these tasks in a substandard way.
I don't get it, but if I had 800 dollars to burn on absolutly nothing else, I would consider buying one.
Both xbox and ps3 are perfectly capable of graphics like that, just the game will run at 2 fps or some such...
Back in the day rather than have primitives that were made out of polygons, we made our models out of quadratic equations, then put those into a ray tracer, and our spheres were spherical to the precision of the computer we were rendering it on.
Now get off my lawn!
I heard this exact same argument made by the Record companies back in the late 90's early 00's that music quality would diminish if just anybody could put their music out there...
And yet, I can't wait until the smart phone fad dies. (and it is a fad)
Yeah... I think Western game studios in the 90's had a bigger impact on what we think of as gaming now than anything Nintendo do.
I mean it is like you wanted to name influences in the music industry, and you named the Monkeys, but failed to mention the Beatles...
Yeah, the Monkeys had an impact and get my respect but...
I had an iPhone, After wrestling with ATT for two years where they kept raising my bill every other month from the minimal $90 to $150 for a phone bill... With crap telephone service btw... Well unless I used the dainty iPhone grab... I ditched the iPhone, and picked up a Boost mobile with a keyboard phone, and I don't miss App store apps (or games) one bit at all.
And I spend less that $30 a month on my phone typically.
True Story
Hey Microsoft! Give Max Payne the HD treatment, please?
I am looking towards the games that the Indy game store releases for Kinect more than the big XBLA game studios personally... Those big studios all try to do really safe games, where there is little or no experimentation. I am more interested in what developers who can afford to risk it all and do somthing new, that really breaks out of the mold of what a game is.
I don't know about that, I like dance games (and I disagree that they are casual shovelware) and Dance Central is miles ahead of the old stepping on button games. Also, the notion that Kinect is imprecise as a dance game interface is laughable.
Also, in an entirely different more lazy direction, as a tv remote control... I keep forgetting that I am in Netflix, and not Zune videos and try waving at my xbox ALL THE TIME.
Once Netflix + Kinect launches...
A little googling around and they only sold a little bit more on Steam than XBLA... 55/45 ratio is what they said on another blog with a more profesional headline...
They sold 400k copies of a game, that these two guys put together at... $10 a pop, yeah, even after revenue sharing with Steam and Microsoft and they pay their development expenses, they are doing all right...
I think Microsoft made verbal promises then they saw the contents of the game, and some business type person in Microsoft nixed the idea of giving the game top billing simply because the game has a fetus as a character in it, because for better or worse that is not the image that microsoft wants to promote on the xbox.
Steam on the otherhand probably has a lot fewer people in the eight year old demographic...
Pong on those analog wheels back in the days of Pong. Wait, did I have an analog wheels controller for the Atari 2600 as well?
It is only 30 million dollars. Since it probably cost almost as much as a feature length movie to produce the game, 30 million dollars is not enough.
I had a lot of fun with GTA IV as well. However my first GTA game was San Andreas, and except for him being a psychopathic murderer, I kinda liked CJ. Niko Belic on the other hand always gave me the creeps... Which I think was the intent, but I missed liking the psychopathic killer I got to play in San Andreas.
OH wow I totally forgot about Castle Crashers, you are absolutely right on there.
I thought Battlefield 1943 was sort of meh, but then I have had my fill of FPS genra games.
I bet we get a whole bunch of XBLA games announcements.
Is Torchlight this week or next?
Spring update, which is when Netflix gets Kinect Support as well.
Halo Forge says hi!
