Mixed feeling here...
I was playing Left 4 Dead last night and a Girl was going at it with an 8 year old little kid, and ZOMG she was sooooooo rude.
Easily the top use I have had for Kinect is as a remote control replacement for tv watching. Once Netflix Kinect launches, my controller will collect dust on weeks that I don't end up playing games.
These are xbla games, and peggle with a controller doesn't have the same hyptnotic enthralling effect that peggle with a mouse has...
On the other hand, the list puts Geometry Wars 2 right at number one, and I would have to agree, it is easily one of the best games this generation hands down.
Sarcasm,
I hear what you are saying, and I may do it to the point of supersition... but anyhow here goes my anecdote...
Way back in the day, it was a pentium 2 that was crashing for no aparent reason, cpu and ram all check out. Old bearded guy says, lets try putting some dielectric grease on the connecting bits, and sure enough the computer ran fine after that.
So I have used it since then, and again this might be supersition on my part.....
I am all for challenging social commentary...
However...
I don't even want to go there...
But a high school student merely being in possesion of this game could constitute a threat to the other students in the school...
And yet, even in that case I would regard it as a cry for help more than a threat.
BadCircuit,
I always though the plot reason for being able to kill hookers in GTA games is that the main character is invariably a psychopathic mass murderer.
This looks like a minimal compiler, linker, debugger, and that is about it. You are still about 100k lines of code away from your asset pipeline, game engine etc...
These are not the tools you are looking for.
I am wondering if there is some integrated game development environment lilke there is on Unity, Source, Unreal, (i am certain i missed some others...) that lets your game studio team hit the ground running, or are you looking at having to go code to start writing your game.
Well the difference is the barrier to entry to develop for iPhone and android (and xbox for that matter) is super low... Literally anybody can go and get the SDK's and start writing software for them, and there are online communities supporting those platforms.
On the other hand it looks like you are looking at the typical Sony SDK prices of $20k a desktop to write software for this platform.
WARNING EDITORIAL CONTENT:
New IP can be fun, but can we please let them die from time to time? I mean think about it, Bulletstorm, it probably is not worthy of a deeper understanding of the Bulletstorm universe, it is just a fun game on its own.
Its like that episode of family guy when the world ended and they were all mutants at the end, then the next episode they were all normal again, and they never explained it. Yeah, something like that.
...
You should also put dielectric grease on there, it is cheaper if you get it at autozone, but a a bunch of geeks are gonna jump on me and tell me you don't need the dielectric grease on your cards, but after a lifetime in the back of a computer shop I assure you it will make your computer last 6 months longer...
So all I need is a new power supply so I can feed that New video card, a new motherboard, new cpu, and ram that fits in all there, and then my old sata hard drive is probably ready to die, so a new hard drive as well, then I am gold. Well, except that this beigh box is pretty crufty, so I should get a new one of those as well.
I wish I had 60 dollars to blow on a new game. Instead over the weekend, I got, Left4Dead (why did I ever sell that one?) Mirrors Edge (wtf why was sequel canceled?) Lost Odyssey (havent poped it in the drive yet) and something called operation darkness all for less than $60...
Will a bunch of you hurry up and sell your copy and crash the price so I can pick it up for $10???
It has to do with the way the ps3 reads the data off of the bluray disk and seperates the data streams.
This will be settled in a few days or weeks when Sony and LG hash out a patent sharing agreement.
But a quick googeling around reveals that this is a very acrimonious back and forth between LG and Sony that has been going on for years...
From the article:
"Alternatively, the Korean company could apply for a court order to get the consoles destroyed"
So not only are they gonna sieze those bad boys, but they are also gonna put them all in the shredder.
I am pretty sure the word was "stunning"
These audience members better post videos of them destroying their xbox's and Kinect sensors, or they are all going on my list!
I dont want a free paper clip because it will fall out of my pocket then jam up the vacume cleaner when I go to clean my floor...
What??? The Fox news story had zero effect on this game... No one is talking censorship at all, except for fox news... The opinion piece had zero legs...
Why are you even writing about it???
Well if it is Youtube related, I would want the ability to start and stop recording from the XBL popup in game, then save my screen grabs and post them on Youtube as well.
