Well I suspect the tests are something like... Probe what kind of edge router you are using, if any. Stress test your internal network, and check what kind of firewall settings you have. Finally, stress test your ISP bandwidth, and determine what type of bandwidht shaping your ISP is doing.
My guess the reasons why they are doing this is to determine what ISP's they need to set up peering agreements with, how to deal with different types of routers, and internal netw...

No it has nothing to do with the hardware. This is like a football game, and people are still watching because it is 5 years on and the game is still close.
Even better there was an upset the first half of the generation, but that contender has petered out, and not the race is on to see if/who catches up with them.

The graphics are noticably better, but not enough better to merit a jump at this time, because they are not enough better to change gameplay, like last gen to this gen did.

I realize you are a Troll, but I want to point out that the Kinect already does this. It automatically logs in who ever is sitting in front of the xbox...
I suppose if you could figure out how to hook the eye toy up to a pc it could do this, or any other simple web cam for that matter.
On the other hand, if you want to get the skeletal data then you will have to use Kinect.
