No one is stealing. They knowingly use each others patents. They had a patent sharing agreement, and it is probably well documented who uses what patents.

I'm on my third xbox in 5 years, and the drama has been minor.
First one received for my birthday. played with over the evening, it was red ringed in the morning, took it back to best buy next day, they replaced it no questions asked.
That one lasted a year and some months... about 6 months after the warranty extension, called max, had a new xbox about 3 weeks later, no questions asked.

Well, they said that about Star Trek, and the series did get really run down and low rent at the end, then they gave it a break and a few years later "rebooted" it and it is fresh and exciting again. I am excitied to see what they do differently this time around.

Regardless these statistics are mindblowing. I have a really hard time sitting for more than an hour or two in front of a game, before I have to get up and go do something else.
But then, after 3.5 years with an xbox I only have a gamerscore of 25k, and I have friends on my friendlist with a gamerscore of 75 - 100k.
But basically, there are lots of people with that 75-100k gamerscore, and the only way to get that kind of score is to 100% a lot of games...
I disagree. The moral of the story is make sure your kids have a full life, and don't let games be a substitue for real parenting. All things in moderation, including moderation... If your kid geeks out once in a while, in Febuary, while it is cold and snowy outside, that is ok.
I am only against kids playing online because there is nothing like a cluless eight year old on Left 4 Dead to ruin your gaming session.

That is more likely a symptom of a bipolar personality disorder than it is inherently the games. Normal people get bored with the games after a couple of hours, assuming there is enough interesting stuff to do and people around to offer an alternative.
It is my experience that "game addicts" generally have some sort of pre-existing untreated mental health issue, and the obsessive gaming is a symptom of a deeper problem.

Ok, I know how to fix this game for the modern gamer and get some good sales. First, lose all the running and jumping. Just make it all FPS shooter with lots of explosion effects, and release annual updates.
Oh also, lose the femine quality of the main character, get rid of her, and make her a space marine with lots of macho quips.
Then cut down the single player game to a couple of hours, and add multi player, with a couple of game modes, hmmm, maybe death...
