I have dealt with it... how? By no longer owning a console or using Steam. I buy all my games from GOG now and have never been happier. Sure the games aren't new releases, but so what? They release new games to it every week, and there are so many games that they have that I have never played so there new to me.
I like simple, I like the way gaming was... you buy a game and you play... no BS. GOG gives me that.
For those who don't know there is a majo...
Bethesda is the one publisher doing things right IMO, I'll support them over companies like EA or Activision any day.
When I run steam in offline mode, it is because I have no network connection for whatever reason, and I have never had a problem with it wanting to be connected. As long as you have your log in details saved to Steam, closed Steam properly by clicking exit and closing it down when not in use, all your games are fully updated and have been played at-least once, and the game your trying to play doesn't require extra DRM outside of Steam (some games do like Ubisoft games) it should work fine...
I leave Steam in offline mode all the time for a long while, and I have never had it want to "phone" home. I have heard people leaving Steam in offline mode for a year or more. Steam is DRM, and lets face it, we will never get publishers to agree to not do DRM. But out of all the DRM that is out there, Steam isn't the worst.
And you got to look at the company, Steam is proven to be consumer friendly and is likely to still be around 10 years from now.

@sam1mur:
You know for gamers not wanting single players games anymore, Skyrim sure sold pretty damn well... so well it downright proved that gamers don't give a dang about if a game has multiplayer or not when it's filled with content warranting $60.
Millions of MS's customers don't have access to an XBL account, and throwing out millions of potential sales is bad no matter how your try to spin it.
And I can't believe Cli...
Always online DRM was never good to begin with, these games have just shown consumers why... unless your talking about an MMO.
Sony probably will be successful with digital games and be profitable. However that is not what Gaikai is about. Gaikai is streaming.
Most people, like those who use Valve can download a 6 - 10 GB game because they know how much bandwidth there using. I love Valve.
Streaming does not store anything on the harddrive, and instead streams the game to you like Netflix does with movie. So instead of that one time 6 GB download for that new game you just bought, in...
I hate to break it to you but these huge corporations have zero control over that fact that the internet infrastructure is no where near capable of handling streaming services for even a majority of Sony fans. The internet is not getting better, it's getting worse with caps becoming the new norm. You can't stream games with a cap, because streaming games can burn more than 1 GB an hour.
Sony will surly use the technology for users who can use it as an added bonus to ...
I really think sometimes people don't look at the big picture. While some of you may have good internet in your area, the average person does not. The internet is also getting worse, and bandwidth caps are now the new norm... while games continue to push 50GB and will likely be larger next gen. The reality of the situation is these publishers want to push this technology because it can effectively kill piracy, but the average consumer should not want it because it really takes away consum...
I'm glad there is someone here with some sense. People keep going on about the digital future and Gaikai... but fail to realize that the internet is getting WORSE not better. Caps are the new norm.
The only good large internet services right now are Verizon Fios (which is no longer expanding) and Google Fiber which lets face it will be many years before it makes a significant impact.
To those out there thinking there going to use Gaikai to stream games on...
This is just stupid, I will be surprised if it has more than 2... but it may fit on just one.
L.A. Noire needed 3 disk because of the facial animation. Graphics and such are not that large in size. Compression is also a lot better now then it was when GTA 4 released.
The more important thing in the patch is that good amount of new info was discovered leading to what will likely be the new DLC.
There are also some signs that the PS3 may soon be getting some DLC if you care for that... of course this is not confirmed but there is some stuff in the new patch that makes it seem like it will.
@gamingGod123:
You do know that Verizon is done with FIOS right? They are currently completing the current contracts for the places they must build FIOS and then there done. Instead there using 4G LTE and expanding it because it's way cheaper which will have bandwidth caps.
So unless Google kicks there new internet service into gear and gets it to the majority of the US this will not matter to the vast majority of the population.

Watching a tv show and owning a game are two very different mind sets.
People are more open to using a service like Netflix to watch movies and TV shows because generally people watch it once and forget it. Gamers on the other hand play games for months, even years... they want this content when they want it, which is not something that can be guaranteed with streaming. Then you factor in price & game sizes being far larger than your average movie/show your mainstream co...
I really need to get around to purchasing the Witcher 2, great companies like that deserve to be supported. I also like that with the console version, they also give you a DRM free version for PC. So I will get this for Xbox so I will have both.
Have fun with that in years to come when these companies remove games from there servers and/or shut down.
I'll still be playing my games on disk, cause I was smart and didn't give companies control over my content.
Until GOG becomes standard, and DRM is thrown out the window... digital anything sucks.
And this would be why I won't accept digital downloads, and will leave gaming when it becomes the norm. It has nothing to do with them wanting to keep people from doing class action lawsuits, but it has absolutely everything to do with them thinking it's okay to take away something I payed for.
People need to wise up, your ridiculously giving services like Steam and Onlive the ability to control your purchases.
It's going to be one messed up futur...
I find this funny really. People act like mobile will make improvements but consoles will not.
Consoles & mobile will eventually reach a point were we can't really push the technology any further that is a given. Rather it be because developers won't be able to cover the cost of better tech or because newer tech wouldn't present us with a significant forward leap in power.
But people have a very narrow view on consoles vs mobile. While it'...
We have to put up with article after article about how Onlive is the future, I guess now we have to put up with article after article on Ouya revolutionizing the console business. Sigh.
When did taking a step back in tech become a good thing in the industry... please just be quite for once.
Developers & the Media need to learn to be quite and just make or report on games instead of trying to predict the unpredictable.
Everything, from it's stupid name to it's purpose in gaming. Cloud storage is fine, cloud computing is stupid.
