since Christmas (it was a present from me to me). Been working perfectly. Sony does not say you can't use 7200rpm, they just recomment you use 5400rpm drives because some 7200's run hot, some like the Toshiba I have, have been shown to run cooler than some 5400rpm drives.

I guess you just need to do your homework. Just because the drive runs at 5400rpm does not mean it is power efficient and runs cool.

I went with the Toshiba 200g 7200rpm drive because of the 16meg cache and the low power and heat. This drive uses less power and produces less heat than some 5400rpm drives.

Got it off of ebay though and with an enclosure...I just put my original 60g into the enclosure and now use that drive to backup my system data.

It is nice to see they are adding DLC (some free, and the one so far that cost extra), but this game needs the multiplayer so I can play my friends over the net, not just with them in the same room with me.

after I purchased my PS3 over a year ago. And loved the game back then, but hessitated on purchasing the update with the endless and survival modes untill the trophies came out. Once I saw that some of the trophies needed the update to be completed, I plopped down the extra $4.99 and have been addicted trying to get that "survive for 7min on endless" ever since. That nuke one is going to be rough as well! These are the last 5 trophies I need to collect...

I don't notice it stuttering when I pull up the XMB while in game, and I also notice the store is still faster yet again, big speed boost with 2.40 and then a little bit faster yet again with 2.41, may just be me seeing things though. :)

And how sad that you seem to think that we care what your opinion is.

This is only step 1 of 3 with the end result having web access just like xbox live has that we can see what our friends are up to with what games for some good 'ol friendly competition. Sony is only trying to give us, the gamers, what we are asking for. Microsoft did a wonderful job with XBL and the integration of games and gamers alike. Sony has to fill some very large shoes, but they are getting there. ...

I would wait till Gears2 comes out, by then the 3rd revision of the 360 motherboard will be out with the 65nm processor and video chip. If you are no longer under warranty with the 360, and sending it in to have it repaired will cost too much, and you don't want to go that route, then hold off if you can. The 360 is getting better with the motherboard updates. And the updated (smaller) video chip with help all the more.

Good luck with what you decide.

2.40 and 2.41 are not just adding trophies which not everyone cares about. The big thing these updates are bringing to the table is access to the XMB. I lucked out, I was able to get the 2.40 firmware and love it. The trophies are nice, don't get me wrong, but being able to access the friends list and everything is great.

Looking forward to this Wednesday so my friends can get the same experiance I am currently having with 2.40.

This is deffinatly an improvement over many of your other posts. And the dissagrees are probably people that know your writting style and just ignore what you say and hit the dissagree out of habbit. :)

But you are right with everything you posted there, and I liked this statement the most...

"I understand MS is a software company an sony is a hardware company an it SHOWS. 360 has sucky hardware(RROD) an the PS3 has sucky software(PS3 OS, PSN) but their bo...

Try 3 MS firmware updates that have caused issues such as this, including 1 that bricked multiple systems that forced owners to send the unit in and 1 that corrupted the log in...anyone remember that? Right after they updated the blade system to include the new marketplace blade? Yeah, MS never messes up.

At least with this, it sounds like all you need to do is remove the hard drive and delete the partition then reinstall the drive into the PS3 and let it format the drive.

You bring up a very good point though. Being someone who has a lot of PC hardware experiance, I can tell you that there have been many times building multiple computers and one or two just for whatever reason do not want to act like the rest even though they use the same hardware.

Sony now has what 4 different PS3 versions out there in the wild. Some with the emotion engine, some without, and while I think they should have stuck to the original two, we probably would not have...

I guess I lucked out big time then. I was at work and called home to my wife that has only touched the PS3 enough to put in a Blu-Ray movie. She did great, followed my instructions over the phone and downloaded the firmware, the installed it, I even walked her through getting the update for Super Stardust! When I got home last night, she had the TV turned on and waiting for me. I was playing SSHD and noticed a friend sign in, pressed the 'PS' button, went over to the Friends list and sent...

I'm at work and called my wife during my first break and had her download the update. Then during my lunch (3:00pm CST) I walked her through installing it. After it was done, The system rebooted like it should have and I walked her through getting the SSHD update (all 255meg of an update).

So now you guys are telling me there is a booboo in the firmware...that sucks!

It has to be supported by both the hardware and the software. These are all features that Microsoft forces the game developers to follow in order to be verified for use on the 360. You are correct however in that Microsoft does supply everything the developer will need. But the developer still has to put the 700 lines of code into the game that checks if you want to play your own music from the drive (hdd or flash) or if the game is supposed to play its own music.

Point...yo...

You are so very close...

"that what makes Xbox-live so great is it's ease of use and a infrastructure that is there already without the developers having to implement all the other stuff themselves"

...actually in order for a game to be certified for use on the live network, the developer has to include the basics for networking. It is up to the developers of the game to ensure it works with XBL and it is up to the developers of the game to ensure it a...

They informed us last week about the in-game music needing to be patched at the game level, otherwise the game would not know not to play its own music.

Also, we were told that the trophies would not be retro-active and that you would have to play the game again to collect them.
