Easy to talk trash from the consumers end of things. Its not the engine, its the type of game. Games with infinite variables will have bugs. I personally ran into more bugs in Baldurs Gate 3 than Starfield. One set us back hours and almost ended the play through. No one complained about that though. Understanding is key.

Right tools for the right job. Ids tech wont make the type of games Bethesda makes.

I hope they dont join everyone in this “new millennium”. The games you speak of dont feel like games, they often feel like interactive movies. The reason starfield would contstantly shift visually is often based on how fondensed and enclosed the area is. They have been soin this since Oblivion. I always noticed how the visuals and lighting in a cave were always so much better than in open areas.

Its not dated ideas. There approach feels more game to me than alot of modern stuff. People have just become to stimulation junkies that not entertained if there isnt a cutscene for every choice you make.

I have been telling people for years that changing the engine would not correct the “problem”. The actual problem is that people just dont like Bethesdas games now, because they arent flashy or high in presentation.

Not incompetence. There is a reason why deva dont make games like Bethesda. They sacrifice stability for sheer variable unpredictablility. The more variables, the more bugs.

“No one is really TALKING about it when there is no NEWS about it.”

Based off of what you said, talking about and news are linked. This article is talking about it starfield, so it must be news based upon what you said.

People trash starfield because their perception has been skewed. They mistake a lack of interest for a particular game as the game being “bad”. This, alongside the commonality of seeing most comments being negative causes people to join the bandwagon. The same reason you hear the same song in every YouTube short, is the same reason why most if not all of the comments are negative.

There is news. This very article… is news. 😂

The dlc is solid so far. I think what has everyone up in arms is Bethesda’s choice to deliberately spit in peoples faces in regards to the loot and rewards.

The attention to detail maybe? Even though there is no reason to do so other than to add it in anyway in a misguided attempt to surprise and delight a community of discontented players. The game is bot your standard ubisoft experience. I have played most if not all ubisoft major releases, and I often have to glance and look to see if Outlaws is even under their umbrella.

@MrDead

My role is not to defend starfield, as people have already made up their minds what they want it to be. Its to help people realize just how much of they themselves is actually the cause of the issue they are having.

@Hotpot

This isnt a fight, its a discussion. And I may be the VOCAL minority, but thete are many more people than you would think that like the game. It is what it is. Its like if you work customer service, its easy to get perception trapped into thinking: “This companies product is trash because all the calls are some problem or issue that needs to be resolved. Then you realize that millions of users of that product are enjoying it….its just that the place you are is speci...

@mudakoshaka

As much criticism that is doled out towards developers, the audience probably needs the criticism more. “Someone else sets a higher standard and you have to keep up or you wont be successful.”

Perhaps the community should think about rolling back on this method of thinking, as it is very limiting. This competitive mindset is the cause of so many issues. Trying to compete without doing so in the right context is a recipe for disaster. So many ...

@neutralgamer1992

What exactly is a “good” game anyway? It is subjective. There are plenty of games people say are amazing, and I personally could not stand them. It depends why do people play games? Based off of my observations, a very large numer of people play games for stimulation. They want to be “oooohhed” and “ahhhhed” like they are watching a blockbuster movie.

Those like me play games for understanding, as vehicles for self realization and improv...

What you are saying is very unreasonable and bereft of understanding. This idea that everything must keep up withor surpass another game is how collapses and crashes happen. The detail in rdr 2 comes at a cost. Other open world games have something unique to offer, and it is foolish to think that something else has to do what rdr 2 is doing to be acceptable.Rdr 2 is not strictly better, people are just strictly discontent.

Outlaws actually surprised me. Its not the usual stuff that they put out; however, I think that is the point. Ubisoft has a long history of reskinning open world games with a different name. I honestly think their practices caught up with them, and hit them when they actually released something with genuine effort.

Consumer discontentment and greed has caused people to see 7/10 as mediocre or bad. Last I checked, 7/10 was good

488d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Because they are more vocal. People that like the game are busy playing it or doing something else. The people that dont like starfield are oddly captivated by it. It’s actually the naysayers that keeps the game in news.
