I wonder if any of these guys have the balls to attack an oil company. Cost them some cash, and they don't screw around.

If console gaming is dying, would anyone like to explain to me how we have THREE successful consoles this generation? Its the first time in gaming history that three consoles from the same generation have passed the 50M mark, and they aren't finished.

Also, do you think MS really gives a rip about PC gaming? Why would anyone pay for XBL on the PC when there are free alternatives like Steam? Proprietry Xbox HDD for the PC? 3rd parties would never support it.

Well, its already been ported to the PS3, it just needs to be localized. I doubt Namco would port a 4 year old game to the Wii U in Japan, much less localize it for the west.

If that is the case, silver members should be given access to basic online gameplay. Let the gold members get an ad-free dashboard along with premium features like x-game chat, cloud storage, fb integration, etc.

Of course, this will never happen. Gold members will have to put up with ads despite paying for the service, and silver members will have to put up with them despite not recieving any services in return.

Two if you count Star Ocean, but I get your point. I think the whole FFXIII fiasco was just the straw that broke the camel's back for PS3 fans. The disdain for Square Enix began with Infinite Undiscovery being exclusive, Star Ocean being a timed exclusive, and The Last Remnant being announced for the PS3 then never released.

While none of those games blew up metacritic, I thought they were ok...they certainly would have been welcome at the time they were released becaus...

If next generation games use deferred renderers, they will have to use either MLAA or SRAA, as MSAA isn't possible.

Also, ATI's implementation of MLAA isn't very good. Clearly if you have the horsepower that the 6970 provides then 16x MSAA is the better method.

@Eiffel

Windows is still a MS platform, which is why you see MS 1st parties occasionally release games for it. SOE games (MMOs) are always developed for the PC, because that is where the largest MMO audience is.

Guerilla isn't under the SOE umbrella, they are under SCE. To my knowledge not a single game developed by a SCE 1st party has been ported to a non-playstation platform.

This would also explain Kojima's tweet about wasting a year.

GreiverSoul, I'd be willing to wager that each PS3 will only allow 2 activations, regardless of the number of accounts linked.

Most likely each console will only 2 activations, regardless of the number of accounts tied to the console.

24 Billion USD is almost certainly incorrect. Most likely something was lost in translation there, could have been 24 Billion Yen.

No. Microsoft and Sony may be competitors in the gaming market, but they are business partners in other markets. Not to mention the fact that it wouldn't be worth the risk for MS to do something like that. If they got caught the FBI, FCC, and EU would have a field day...Microsoft as we know it today would no longer exist. Execs would be thrown in prison, then the company would be broken into pieces and sold.

MS makes most of their money off of Windows, and they wouldn...

Agree. PSN wasn't the first service I use that has been infiltrated, and it wont be the last. Nature of the beast when conducting business on the internet.

While I was typing this message, got a tweet stating that Sony is in the final stages of internal testing before restoring services. Good news.

Not really, that only applies to full games. The rest of the content you keep, as well as any games purchased with PS+ discounts.

One month is plenty of time to download and play a game or two that you likely otherwise would have to pay $10-$15 for. Sounds like a pretty decent deal.

Hindsight tells us that clearly Sony could have done more to keep our data secure. Unfortunately you only have the luxury of hindsight *after* an event occurs. I'm sure that before this breach Sony thought that their network was secure. Amazon probably thought the same before EC2 was hacked. Target, Best Buy, and many others also probably felt they were safe.

It only takes one disgruntled person with intimate knowledge of online security to put a serious hurting on an...

I think Sony will have to compensate DC online users somehow. PS+ users will probably just get extra time to Download the current free/discounted merchandise.

Outside of that, I don't think Sony will be required to do anything. I do however think that it would be in their best interest to provide something for all PSN users. Right now they are in desperate need for positive PR, and giving away free stuff would be a big step in that direction.

Sony needs to bear responsibility, but you were careless. Sony is not the first, nor will it be the last, major online merchant to be hacked. If you want to protect yourself you need a password safe such as Keepass.

You aren't alone, I learned this the hard way six months ago. And despite generating seperate, strong paswords for every online account that I have which stores critical data my Credit Card was still compromised by recent hack into a major online retailer. ...

Ugh. Worthless theives. I have had two credit cards compromised in the past 6 months due to similar intrusions on other online merchants. Luckily I havent used any of my current cards on PSN yet. Probably just stick to points cards from here out.

I hope they identify whomever bypassed the PSN's security, lock them up and throw away the damn key.
