But if you think an American Football player would "shit their pants" in a rugby game, you are delusional. NFL players are among the best athletes in the world. Some of them measure at 6'6 280 lbs and can run the 40 in 4.5 seconds. They are bigger, stronger, and faster than anyone in Rugby.

Our version of football actually encourages full speed contact, hence the need for pads. Much more entertaining than watching a bunch of 2nd rate athletes playing a weak...

The warnings for 3D are no different that the warnings for television use period. Long periods of sustained use is not recommended.

There are several things in modern society that could pose long term health risks. Cellular phone usage, alcohol usage, soda, energy drinks, steroid usage (looks at Havok's avatar). People ignore the health risks because they enjoy these amenities. Its hypocritical to sit here and single out Stereoscopic 3D due to YOUR fanboy allegiances....

When Bluray players were first released, the 20GB PS3 was the cheapest at $499. Standalones started at $800. Mass market adoption didn't occur until late 2008, when standalone players were available for under $150.

3D Flat Panels are expensive, but most flat panels are unless they are no-name Walmart brands. 3D Ready DLPs can be purchased for under $1500. There are 3D Plasmas and LCDs for under $2000. Remember the first 720p Plasmas? They started at a whopping $8000...

The PS3 will fully support standard 3d formats. HDMI 1.4 was developed as a standard to include 3D (and several other new features), but its only required on the display end. HDMI 1.3 has enough bandwidth to pass FullHD steroscopic 3d, and the PS3s with beta firmware have already been demoed with this feature.

If you have a Sony 3d television connected to a PS3, these glasses will work with it.

"They had to cave and agree to use the DVD standard when they were going to make their own."

Sony had a large hand in creating the DVD standard, as they were one of the founding members of the DVD Forum. You just pulled that BS out of left field in an attempt to back your fanboy nonsense.

UMD was never designed to be a standard outside of the PSP, so I don't see where that is applicable in this argument. Its like saying DS carts failed because ...

The MGS game is a remake of Snake Eater.

...it wont. SE has been pretty clear about their stance on a FF7 remake, and if by some act of God they decided to make one, I think it would be announced at TGS, not E3.

Friday - counter shows 4 days

Saturday - counter shows 3 days

Sunday - counter shows 2 days

Monday - counter shows 1 day

Tuesday - counter at zero, site updated

Realistically it would have been less confusing if Kojima just used hours instead of days.

...but it doesn't look to be any more than normal. HDTV's always introduce a certain amount of latency due to processing, even in game mode. Add to that standard controller latency (22 ms), and any latency introduced by the renderer itself.

Its about the same amount of "lag" that you would have with a standard controller, but its much more visible because you can actually see the large movements of the player.

I do agree that they need a b...

That is correct, and those using the PS3 for research were warned not to update prior to 3.21. People using the PS3 for HPC purposes should have no need to play games or access PSN. In fact, those PS3s probably should never even see the XMB.

But, all of these lawsuits are coming from home users claiming that they bought the PS3 for its linux capabilities, and that is just plain ridiculous. HolyOrangeCows' point is that a cheap PC can run circles around the PS3 for stan...

Most likely these hackers used a similar technique that geohot used to gain access to the hypervisor, which required access to Linux. So while hackers are able to dump v3.15, they will not be able to dump future revisions of the OS.

That was the explicit reason Sony removed the OtherOS feature. They already knew 3.15 could be compromised, and I doubt that its any shock to them that its been dumped. But hackers are going to need to find a new way to dump future revisions of t...

Natal is still restricted to line of sight. It cannot track a hand hidden behind your back any more than the PS Eye can. What it can do is remember the last position, then recover once you hand is back in sight...just like the PS Eye can.

What Natal can do that the PS Eye cannot do is track line of sight objects along the z-axis. Combined with the move controller, the PS Eye can track z-movement by analyzing the diameter of the light, but Natal should be able to track z moveme...

The email in your link was sent in February. I'm going to guess that the folks involved did not have the right information. Either that, or they flat out lied.

This isn't an April Fools joke. Any company worth their salt isn't going to joke about something that could potentially piss customers off. Sony sent out the notice early so people with PS3 clusters for HPC use do not upgrade the firmware.

That said, hopefully Sony will add a nice feature in 3.21 to ease ...

For games and movies that support 3D, the PS3 will not rely on the television to convert a 2d image to 3d. It sends frame-packed 3D image straight to the television over HDMI. The 2D to 3D conversion can be done on any source...360, Wii, PS2, etc, but the effect isn't nearly as good as a native 3d source.

But your are correct that the OPs monitor wont support the PS3. It was manufactured before the current 3D spec was finalized, so it won't be able to recognize the frame packe...

IMHO, its still the best game released this gen. I have seen some complaints about the online, but as a single player experience, nothing has topped MGS4. Maybe people new to Metal Gear might not get it, but every MGS fan I know loved it, and still do to this day. That is why so many people have been clamoring for a trophy patch.

As for God of War III, this isn't a situation where people are "changing their mind." These folks didn't do the initial review, so they ar...

As dumb as Crab's comment about the Move copying the Wii was, your argument about the Move being in development before the Wiimote doesn't hold water.

Motion Control via the EyeToy was in R&D since 2004, but its clear that Sony didn't start putting heavy investment in it until they saw the success the Wii had. Also, we don't know how long Nintendo was researching motion control before the Wii was released, there is a good chance it was before 2004. You have to give Nintendo...

It was like 4 hours XS1 cutscenes. It came with the NTSC version too. Sucks PAL gamers didn't get the 1st, it was so much better than the second. Speaking of Xenosaga, there was also a DS remake that combined the stories of part 1 and 2. If Bioware were going to put ME on the PS3, they would need to do something similar. A movie containing the story of the first wouldn't cut it IMHO, since the decisions made in ME1 directly tie into ME2.

ME 1 and 2 may end up on the PS3, but...

Halo is a great franchise, but don't pretend Sony doesn't have excellent IPs as well. If you are looking for "Heavy Hitters" wait until Gran Turismo 5 launches. I'd wager it will move more lifetime units worldwide than Halo Reach.

..tells me we are years away from acceptable autostereoscopy. Maybe it does work better on a smaller screen, but I have to see it to believe it. If people think glasses are annoying, autostereoscopy requires a precise "sweet spot", if you aren't viewing at the correct distance and angle, the picture will look like garbage.

Of course if it was still that bad I don't think Nintendo would use it. I would like to think that they learned something from the virtual boy.
