It's strange. I remember to play the first one half through ... then got bored, because it felt so repetitive.
Lately I got me the second one, because of all the praise. Atmosphere was awesome, but I felt AC2 way too easy to play. I got bored again after a few hours into the game.
Maybe it's just not my type of game.
I cannot imagine a realistic scenario for a collaboration, although I would love to see these two working together. Would reshuffle the cards on the market.
Looks awesome. Will definitly get this. I hope it's challenging.
What are you talking about? Pricepoint is allways important relative to what you get. It's called Bang for the buck. It decides, if you feel you made a bargain, if a price is considered fair or if you feel ripped off.
X1 for 199$. <<< Awesome. Give me two.
PS4 for 799$ <<< Keep your overprized garbage.
The reception of a product is very dependent on the price. Look up the recent articles on the Steam Machines. Everybody would be ...
It's just impossible in the moment. You cannot beat the prices of a custom design like the PS4 or X1.
I think their big advantage is, that steam machines (aka PC hardware) evolves pretty quickly, giving you more bang for the buck each year.
It's just starting end of year. So let's give it some time and see how it turns out. The financial risk is shouldered by many. So nobody will break their neck with it.
@Pandamobile
I don't say it's happening this year. But subscription models are a general trend in the industry. Adobe did it. Microsoft does it allready with Office365. You've got subscriptions on Playstation and Xbox. Plus all cloudbased stuff, from organizers to braingames (e.g. lumosity).
People get used to these kind of services and from a business standpoint a slow transition into this kind of revenue makes alot of sense. You get a steady inc...
My biggest fear (and a very likely development btw) is that Windows gets subscription based and establishes kind of a mandatory appstore for every other application like itunes for apple products. These kind of closed ecosystems are a huge bummer for the consumer. So I would like to have at least an option.
Steam OS is linuxbased and will stay open. You keep full controll of your platform. I would like that.
I think it's not meant for ppl allready gaming on PC, but more for the general public and the console-gamers. It's almost as convenient as consoles, more versatile and powerfull. Also lots of design-choices.
PS4 and X1 are technically allready very close to small livingroom-PC anyway. They have just a purpousfully closed ecosystem. ... and the big advantage of a uniform design, which makes game and app optimization easier.
I like it. Won't buy i...
@Qrphe
If open mindedness means to welter in mediocrity, I am rather narrow minded ... it's called an aquired taste for quality and aesthetics.
Loved my C64 and Amiga. Good times.
Their handbook for new employes is a good read. Give it a go! Interesting insights how Valve handles stuff. Flagship company of the gaming industry imo.

Yeah, their games getting worse imo. Not sure who's to blame.
"Cities: Skyline" looks promising.

Exclusives. Get a WiiU. My PC thinks it's awesome. :P
As often pointed out: piracy is not as wide spread as some people imagine. Prices for PC games are really low. My backlog is overflowing.
Also look on the success of GOG. Everything is DRM free; nevertheless ppl buy shitloads of games there.
On the long run a PC is cheaper than a console. It's just the initial start that's a bit daunting. You buy your PC once. Then you upgrade piece by piece. Spend every two years 200 bucks and your well covered.
Indeed. They are trying to strenghten Windows to keep it attractive for gamers. I am sure they will (like Adobe and others) switch to a subscription based system for all their software brands, including Windows, since it counters any kind of piracy, makes datadigging easy, and gives you a steady stream of revenue. I cant blame them from a business point of view, but as a consumer I hate that idea. I want to own software, not rent it.
I wouldn't mind to have at least one v...
@stiffler
Multiplats are a reason to NOT buy a WiiU and to go for one of the other systems. But it's not a valid reason to buy a specific one of the three (PS4, X1, PC). Gameplay is basically the same on any of these, on a technical level the X1 is even trailing behind.
There are other, better reasons to buy a XboxOne, like a huge friendslist or a love for certain exclusives and so on. These reasons are valid and I hope you and any other owner enjoys it a...
Hmmm, those multiplats could be enjoyed on a PS4 or a PC as well. So not a distinctive reason to own a Xbox.
Xbox Controller is great though. Got one for my PC.
What I see: They are making games exclusive for XBox and Windows. Which is a difference. They will make Windows to a subscription based systema after the next iteration. If you wanna play these games you will have to subscribe to windows. Countering Valve and their OS.
I hope SteamOS will turn out to be a suitable option, since I personally don't like the way this is heading.
I don't mind to pay for game expansions like they did in "the good old days". Full new stories, characters and settings in the same engine/world.
But I hate to pay for cosmetics or DLC, if it's only a two hour sidequest, a bunch of new weapons or spells or whatever.
For example BF4 Premium is borderline for me. The single DLC is a rip off in my opinion. (4 maps, some weapons ...) But considering you get like 20 new maps and a few new gamemod...
