That's my worry as well not only on Playstation VR, but on all devices. The software I've seen so far is very limited in it's gameplay - just very simple games. After the first awe ... people could soon get disentchanted. I see those headsets collecting dust after a few weeks ...
There is still a lot of work to do before VR really shines imo.
I personally can't wait to try it, but will I shell out several hundred bucks for it? Doubtfull ... I'll pr...
Why does it allways have to be "war" with you people?
I just quote the Dev himself:
"And just to be clear, it's not just Nintendo, every hardware manufacturer is treating their devkits and their unreleased consoles like they're the second coming and are insanely secretive about it to a stupid degree in todays time."
He is generally complaining about the practice and just takes Nintendo and their NX as an example. I understand both sides ...
What happend to comments in the line of ... ?
> "If Pachter tells you it will dominate, that's not a good sign - propably he is wrong again."
> "Why is the douchebag still quoted anyway?"
> "I predict that arrogant jerk talks rubbish again."
> "Braineating zombies would defo spare this guy."
... and so on.
Your first paragraph sums it up pretty much for me. I am also waiting for reviews and community feedback after the full release. I enjoyed especially the second story mission.
Also running around with my gaming buddies shooting stuff is allways good fun, but that does not depend on the game so much as on the people I play with.
Imo the "mainstream" will be handled by the cheaper solutions like Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR. Mainly for watching movies, simple games and generally more "passive" experiences.
Their success might be even more crucial than Rift, Morpheus and Vive. Especially in the first 1-2 years to get the train really rolling.
Two VR-Controllers, Lighthousetracking and a integrated camera ...
For me as a package more enticing than Oculus Rift - even for that price. Does seem fair for the tech.
Just want to add: I also played the second mission tonight (after I commented before). The underground powerstation was very well designed and had awesome lightning. I enjoyed it most of all the missions and encounters available.
I hope they keep that high standard in the full game and add some more surprises ...
True. There will be a good amount of skills, and better character customization, crafting, more diverse loot etc.
But like I said: I am more concerned about the variety of enemies (and their tactics), environment, missiondesign and gameplayelements. The structure of the missions and combat is very "simple" and repetetive.
When I heard about the game I hoped for stealth missions inbetween, some recon stuff, pursuits or hacking. Also exploring the environment...
It's only an slightly above average game imo. Good fun for the weekend, but I am allready getting tired ot the gameplay. For me it's too repetitive in the fights and limited its variations of enemies, environment, missiondesign and gameplayelements. That maybe due to the Beta, but makes me hesitant to shell out the money for it. I'll wait for reviews to get a beter impression about the contet.
You know that this is a marketing trick ...
It doesn't affect me, since I wait for the Goty edition. Just pointing out, that if it's working and people buy heavily into it, EA and Co will adapt their practices accordingly.
I don't get the disagrees. The playerbase of this game is not healthy at all on every platform. PC is the worst, but also on PS4 / X1 the playerbase is on ridiculous low numbers for a multiplayer game, that only recently released ... add the Star Wars name and the numbers look even worse.
And to be honest they deserve that lost interest. Not enough content and casual game mechanics, that even preschool kids can handle without problems. For longevity you need appropriate c...
@Khaotic
If it would be about sales and userbase, they would let it run on their own other OSs like Win7 or Win8. It's just a move to promote Win10 to gamers. That's it.
And in this regard The_Infected is right: they put that game behind a wall. It's a low one of course, since they offer Win10 for free, but still ...
I think DX12 is just an excuse to make it Win10 exclusive and get people to adopt to the OS. Can't believe it's really well optimized for DX12 (or well optimized at all with these specs) ...
... not really sneaky - more like right in your face!
I wondered that myself: shouldn't DX12 make it less demanding?
They want to push Win10 ... that's it. Imo nothing more, nothing less.
Indeed. They are pushing Win10 like crazy ... it's getting annoying.
Pirating has a negligible impact on sales. Allready proven in the music industry. Shouldn't be much different with game sales.
Ironically DRM-measures often hurt their legit customers as much as the pirates. (To be fair: I haven't heard about too many bad experiences with Denuvo Protection yet. I just don't like that they are leaving code behind ... Clean your shit up!)
Don't forget: X1 up 60%
