I agree. 2013 was more atmospheric and detailed.
Still a good looking game, though. Shouldn't diminish the fun, if you like the gameplay.
Well, I take the "Thanks for the Beta-Testing" approach to stuff like that.
Besides the reasons allready raised by other ppl in this thread: releasing a new console every year makes also ecologically and ecnomically zero sense. Main reason is, that you everytime have to pay again for a case, a PSU, Mainboard, Ram, Cables and so on, just to get a slightly more powerfull CPU and Graphicschip combo.
That is why PC gaming is in the long run not such an expensive hobby as many console gamers make it out to be. You buy those things not every other year. A good cas...
"I honestly do not understand or know how you people can even write comments like this when you have no clue into what the game is going to be like in final release.."
Well, this is also true for people praising and defending the title before release. Just saying.
Backed into a corner?
Just don't buy/use it ... End of story.
One could do a 5-8 year console cycle with a stronger CPU and enough RAM and only make the graphicschip upgradable. Similar to a Cartridge. You put it in the box and you're done. Call it a Powerup and put out an upgrade every other year - name it G1, G2, G3 and G4.
Put a logo on the game: e.g. "Minimum G2"
(That should be easy enough to understand.)
Other than that: Put on W10, but make it directly bootable into a simple "X...
Indeed. This kind of modularization has a lot of advantages economically and ecologically.
For example (PC): I buy a good case and PSU once a decade. Switch out my Mobo and CPU all 5+ years and my graphicscard every 2+ years. Saves a lot of money and resources. Would love to do that with other devices as well.
It will be a (small formfactor) PC, just with an easy-to-use dashboard - similar to what you find on consoles today or like SteamOS introduced for PCs allready.
... still - a PC.
Which btw has only advantages.
Win 10 store will end like Uplay or Origin imo. Gamers will get used to the hassle with it and reluctantly take the offer. Pretty sure it will not get the place to go for PC gamers, though.
Well - What about hoky-poky tricks down the marketers hat?
Because now it's kind of a "semi-blind" bargain for the gamers, who want to jump in day 1, since Ubisoft did hold back a lot of information about the game. Amount of Content? Endgame? DLC-Plans?
You gotta admit that the Beta was quite limited.
I agree. Makes you wonder, if Ubi wants to sell copies before the reviews arive.
There wouldn't be harm in letting reviewers play all story missions and sidequests together with colleagues.
Even the Darkzone would be possible, if you limit the server count and throw them all into the same environment.
I am curious how this turns out. I liked the Beta, but grew tired of it after a few hours of gameplay. It really stands and falls with the amount o...
Indeed. As good as it is, that Microsofts brings games to PC, my excitement is buried by all the restrictions and the proprietary crap they pull off.
Still better than nothing, I guess.
Good article.
I still hope that Steam OS takes off and Vulkan gets the new standard for graphics API - the latter being a bit more likely.
The problem with those closed and controlled environments is allways stagnation. Microsoft did only start putting real effort into DX12, when Mantle was announced. And some competition to Windows would eradicate a lot of their sloppiness regarding their OS imo.
Let's see ...
Propably together with the official reveal of the NX.
I think one shouldn't consider the Microsoft store an alternative to steam or gog, but like a distribution network similar to Uplay or Origin. Most PC gamers only play Ubisoft or EA games on those and nothing else. Microsoft store will basically end the same way for gamers.
Day Of The Tentacle - awesome! Didn't have that on radar.
Puts a smile on my face, just thinking about that game.
Not sure, if I should tinker with my notalgia, though ...
It's a mear 5 fps difference to an i3 4130 + R7 360.
I wouldn't call that "whiping the floor" ...
Additionally the drivers on PC are not optimized yet.
On topic: I really do wonder where they want to pull that horse power from for VR. Let's see ...
If the quality is really as good as they state, that would be a huge accomplishment and really beneficial for the whole VR movement.
It's the same in every medium - be it books, music, films etc.
The majority of people do NOT want to be challenged, but entertained.
(They indulge in known formulas, be it beloved platforms, genres, franchises, gamemechanics, storys or characters. It's a certain kind of identity build around those things. Which is btw true for me as well.)
It's allways a curious minority exploring new concepts first. Until it gets a trend. (e.g. Minecraft)
Skill? More of a lucky shot.
But allways nice to get one of course ...
