The main purpose of a console is (still) to play games at home. Why would an upgrade go against that?
Slap in a module and beef up your GPU. That still got a plug&play character.

Advanced VR titles will propably require more power. You see the difference between standard gaming PCs and consoles allready in normal titles, concerning framerates and resolution. If they don't beef it up, the difference in VR titles will be very noticable end next year when another wave of GPUs hits the market.

But a shorter console cycle will do as well I guess.

4K ... lol

The rip-off is actually that they charge full price for a digital game in the first line. Like you said - nothing physical involved. They don't have to produce the media, no packing, no delivering, no distributors ... I don't know how much that should reduce the price, but 25% seems to be reasonable.

So new games shouldn't be more than 45$ digitally, which is exactly what you get in keystores.

E.g. The Witcher 3 went for around 40 bucks as a preor...

Tetris in 4K is not a big deal - Quantrum Break in 4K is. Lets just assume the X1 would run Pokken Tournament as well in 1080p.

My only concern is that the PS4 might not be powerfull enough for more demanding VR experiences. There is a reason why Oculus and Vive require some beefy hardware. But you make good points and to be honest: if they wouldn't tie it to the PS4, but release it for PC as well, I would propably buy one instead of the Vive.

If develpers can handle a gazillion different PC hardware setups, they will propably manage to handle a PS4.5 with an upgraded GPU. Espescially, if Sony only beefs up the GPU. It will require a mere adjustment in graphical settings - something the average PC gamer does every day by himself.

I see no problem in that, other then people being upset about their (now) inferior hardware. Which will propably lead to even more sales for Sony, since every "hardcore" gamer w...

We are also very good in distinguishing between medial and real experiences. The VR experience will allways be limited. Objects have no weight and pushback, no smell, no taste etc. It will be more like a consicous dream ...

Quite the opposite. As far as I remember it took an insane amount of work to create maps for BF4 due to the engines different modules. E.g. every lightsource has to be edited by hand, same for collission markers etc.

I wondered the same yesterday. It's just a rumour yet, but normally these things explode here on N4G.

@bruce755

Just to clarify.
Imho the chance is high that your perception is biased. You connect a positive feeling (hype) with PSVR and you try to CONFIRM it by valuing positive news (EVERYTHING you read and hear about PSVR is COMPLETLY POSITIVE) and devaluing negative ones like this article ("I'll take it with a grain of salt").
In this thread a lot of people are trying to undermine the authors credibility in various ways (faulty setup, bad lig...

Cursing? Fanboyism?

The only problem he mentions is the inferior tracking. He even praises Sony for ergonomics and efficiency.
Are you sure you read the same article?

Without the numbers we actually do not know much.
The stock could have been highly limited - creating a false sense of demand. Which is not an uncommon marketing trick.

Recent example: WiiU sold out in Japan.

Btw: I hope it IS a huge success. Just saying, that we don't know numbers.

You're logic is flawed. If you advice everyone to hold back you will slow the momentum you are actually hoping for down.
You actually should advice all PS4 ownders to jump on it ASAP, but (smartly) hold back yourself! Then see how the adaption rate develops etc.
I generally agree with your scepticism btw.

That said: Every gamer ows it to himself and to our beloved hobby to get a VR-device - it's the revolution of gaming ;)

Totally overpaid like most positions on top of the food chain.

That game is good fun - highly recommended for any ARPG-Fan.
Also a nice team of developers close to the community.
