Yeah it's actually quite depressing that other Anthem and GR:Breackpoint sold well despite being critically panned and not hitting their sales target.
It does call into question. 'sale targets though. When a game sells millions of copies and makes a profit - but still is branded as a commercial failure by the publisher; then you know the rot has well and truly set in.
The real problem here is you trying to draw parallels between a fictional games' world building, and not being able to differentiate between the two. Then you use that to generate fake outrage claiming the game "has been criticized".
I'm genuinely surprised some idiot hasn't criticised the game for using the phrase Homo-demens to describe its terrorists.
There you go, there'ss the headline for you next snuff piece.
Well there you have it - Death Stranding is a success. Can we stop now with the snuff-piece articles about Death Stranding. On side note, it speaks volumes that Days Gone beat Death Stranding as the biggest new IP released this year. The haters tried to bury that game as well, but they again failed miserably. Playstation gamers ftw!
Go read a book then.
Bravo sir 🤣👏👏
Well yeah - lets be honest here, it's the soulsbourne series that has popularised this idea of indirect-multiplayer games; where you can leave messages and signpost for other players - or what Kojima wants to call "Strand Games". I really liked the way it was implemented in Nioh as well, where you can ressurect and fight the spirits of fallen players.
However I haven't played Death Stranding, and I know that there are other elements to it, such a building...
I wonder what the IGN aggregate review score is for this game. Its seems like the IGN-US score is the outlier among their other regional sites... I wonder why?
"...what DS is to action adventure games is exactly what Joker is to the DCU/MCU"
Well said 👏👏👏
Talk about not being able to see the woods for the trees.
Firstly Sony never said Killzone was going to be a "halo killer". That phrase was coined by fanboys. And even GG came out publicly to say they were never interested in that fan boy war - https://www.destructoid.com...
Moreover, when it comes to the bigger picture, Microsof...
This is what I was thinking. I mean, if you already have an xbox or other console then just wait for next gen. But if you don't have a console, and are on a limited budget (next gen consoles will be presumably more expensive) and you're desperate to jump on the bandwagon - then sure, go for it.
Isn't that true for any game though?
In fact, thinking about it now - which game appeals to everyone?
I'll wait...
I hear you, but in this case - it is lame, and is just an excuse for another snuff piece on Death Stranding. The game has already been reviewed, and alot more information about the game has been released; not to mention a good and overall positive metacritic rating of 85. Yet the author of the article is casting aspersions and making statements as though the game is not receiving an overall positive critical response - despite the alleged "issues" that the author claims are reasons ...
It wasn't actually buried - they tried but failed because Warhorse studios stood their ground.
Outrage media has become a cancer that really needs to be excised in the gaming industry.
I can't remember the last time a game had this much pre-release hype. Friday can't come soon enough, I'm getting hype-fatigue, and it's always dangerous to get hype fatigue.
Anyone remember No Man's Sky?
'nuff said.
To be fair Resident Evil 2 Remake got a 91 metacritic rating. Not that it matters, as I think Death Stranding will still get nominations for GOTY.
Yeah, but when the game comes out and basement game journalists start jumping on the hate wagon and review bombing the game just for clicks - the meta score might change again.
I can't wait for Death Stranding, I love the soundtrack already, and will probably get it when it's released.
Not that it matters, but Resident Evil 2 Remake had a meta of 91. But tbh, I think if we start having a conversation about GOTY, then from what it sounds like - Death Stranding seems to already be in the runnings. I can't think of any other games coming out this year that are contenders?
Great interview. Minor spoilers but probably still one of the best Death Stranding interview out there - it really cleared up a few things I had been wondering about DS.
Not long to go now. My body is ready.
Includes "balance updates", I guess this means they have tweaked the difficulty levels, as reviewers complained that the game was way too easy.
I start most games on hard anyway, as it usually unlocks the easy and normal level trophies upon completion of the game.
The fact that someone actually counted all the game directors and then checked the numbers. Anyway congrats Kojima-san. It is well deserved.
