It's just a numbers game to most. They don't understand that it doesn't matter if you can hold 1TB of VRAM if you don't have the processing power to actually render it.

I hope it didn't remind him of Darksiders II graphics. My reaction when I first played that was that it looked like a 360 game on my PC at highest graphics.

If it was hardware everyone would be jumping on the PC train, where the big boys hardware is at. It is clearly software. The games and how they handle the hardware is what's important. Software like Last of Us which utilise the hardware to the extreme is what is important. You can have the best hardware in the world, but if you don't take advantage of it you may as well just use worse, cheaper hardware.

Of course you cannot have good software without decent hardware, ...

Pretty much every game that is a flash sale or community voted will appear in again in the daily deals. I'd say there is a very high chance of it being available to buy on sale again.

"NOBODY ever tries to say the PS4 is more powerful than a top gaming PC"

Haha, first day on N4G? May I direct you to every article about PS4 on reveal date, E3, and the following weeks?

I like how people are disagreeing with you. They may start out at 60 FPS (they aren't), but you can bet that a few years from now they will all be pushing 30FPS. It's just how it works when you are locked into hardware. You want graphics that require more processing, you get less framerate. That's how hardware works.

"no installation"

Somebody never played DMC4 or MGS4.

... It was extremely obvious when Watch Dogs was shown that it wasn't running on current gen systems, I think that makes it next gen.

From a quick google search it appears that the PS3 is 1.8 teraflops, Tianhe-2 has a theoretical maximum of nearly 55,000 teraflops, so 30,500 times faster. But yes, you probably won't find any normal consumer product that is 1000 times more powerful.

Adding in DRM that requires you to connect daily makes your console unusable till you connect it again. There is a difference between modifying software and removing the ability to use a product altogether.

Not to sure what the legality of getting people to purchase a console and then change the terms of use of that console for certain countries would be, but I would assume that it won't be allowed in many countries. You can't get someone to purchase a physical product and then make it unavailable to use once they have paid money.

Android is disgusting performance wise, that's why they don't use it. It runs through java, which means it uses the java virtual machine which needs to translate code into machine readable code, making the process to read code insanely slow in comparison to straight up reading machine code.

It's only used in phones because it is extremely easy to develop for and performance isn't a major issue on phones, and also has amazing support from Google.

When did Sony say it was a gimmick? They had multiplayer in PS2 days, and prior to that it was a niche market. With the growth of the internet came the growth of the market as it improved and became available to more.

You know your friend can log into your steam account and have access to EVERY game you own without the need for coming around and picking the game up right?

It's Unix, not Linux.

Unix is still an advantage, it is a hell of a lot more stable than any OS MS has ever produced, and contains much better OS management.

Driver support means nothing either. Even if what mmj said wasn't the case, it's Sony, either they or AMD could make the drivers, you think some random community would reverse engineer drivers for hardware that only exists in PS4 (of which case they can't even install)?

They see 4GB and see that that means another 4GB is left, therefore the graphics can get twice as good.

"The most impressive part? It only uses four of the eight gigabytes".
The article makes that seem like a good thing. 4GB of RAM for a single room is crazy, no games will be using that high if they expect it to get used in a game, open a door and you run out of RAM.

Did you even read the article? Someone showed a comparison of them, said it sounded like her, and asked what she thought? She then said "I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness".

The articles headline makes it seem like she made a big statement saying they stole her looks and voice.

As cool as it is, this stuff has been around for quite a while now, and can do a lot more fancy things than just play pong.

Thanks, but I already know how an organisation works. I wasn't saying Sony isn't in it for the money either, I was stating how everyone bitched about Microsoft and just goes running back to them despite the fact that MS clearly doesn't give a shit about its fanbase.

And in relation to the 'cutting off the customer' point, I honestly don't know why they did it. They must have thought the potential risk of customers was outweighed by new profits, but I h...

Typical. Everyone hates on a company, but then goes crawling back to them when they decide to change their ways. Microsoft needs to learn that it's not okay to treat your customers like shit. The matter of fact is Microsoft were cutting off a huge amount of players, both those without internet or because of country, and didn't care about THEM, they just cared about money. How can you want to stand by a company who values you as nothing but a source of income?
