I don't know if the article is true, but even if it is, Microsoft is still doing/has done a hell of a job with their first two consoles. It takes a lot to become a powerhouse in this industry where many have failed (Sega, Atari, Neo Geo, etc.). This is an industry where you can be on top for two generations, and then be outsold the next. You really have to strive to stay ahead of the pack if you want to be number one.
Even if Microsoft isn't quite where they want to be in so...
This is what Sony should've done all along. As a company, you have to listen to your consumers. The collective gasp when they announced the PS3 price point at E3 should've told them that it would be too high for the average consumer.
Microsoft finally listened to the consumer when they announced a 3 year warranty, returned repair money, and new heatsinks for inside the 360. They are reaping the rewards judging by sales.
I think Sony will reap the rewards as ...
There will be more Halo's. After all, it's the flagship title, and the most popular video game franchise over the last two generations. I'm guessing that the story will be changed for the next one though.
Halo 3 not a system seller? Give me a break. I think Reggie needs to focus on the huge amount of crappy games on Nintendo systems. There's even an article on how Nintendo has no standards as to what games make it on their systems in the new EGM. Eventually all those people buying Wii's will become bored with the lack of great titles, and will want to buy a real video game console.
"as a ps3 owner i would never buy a low powered console." -- Does that mean you chose the more powerful Xbox over PS2 last gen?
Quit eating paint chips and maybe your brain will work better.
Sissy douches like you are what's wrong with America. You don't have to like what Imus had to say, but he should have the right to say it. Everyone get so "offended" and "outraged" over everything. I put those words in quotes, because people don't really get offended and outraged. Small groups that represent a minority of people always complain or threaten to boycott, and then the rest of our entertainment suffers.
By the way sissy douche, I'm not a redn...
"Exclusively on the PS3...this Christmas". What about the new year? I'm not saying it will come out on the 360, it very well might not. But I don't think we can write off for sure until the new year rolls around.
"We would ignore it entirely were it not for the internet’s propensity for drama where none exists."
He hit the nail on the head. This is turning into a situation like Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" or Don Imus saying "nappy headed hos". It's making a mountain out of a mole hill, just like the rest of the stupid media.
Halo 3 is a great looking game - not the best - but great looking. The game play itself is very fun.
The only thing Halo 3 did to the Xbox 360 was give it a giant steroid shot right in the ass. This game is a system seller. For every person not happy with it there will be 20 that are.
Jack Tretton head of Sony Computer Entertainment America revealed earlier this summer that Sony had a strict policy against "buying" exclusives. "We have a very different approach to exclusives than some of our competitors," stated Tretton. "We don't buy exclusivity, we don't fund development. We don't, for lack of a better term, bribe somebody to only do a game on our platform."

Well said.
Don't blame the dumbing down of MGS4 graphics on Microsoft. Sony is notorious for releasing trailers that the PS3 is incapable of producing in game play, and then later having to dumb down the graphics. Remember a couple of E3's ago (I'm referring to the one a year before Sony embarrassed itself with the PS3 price point, giant crabs and Riiiiiiidge Racer). They showed several trailers that were utterly amazing, and then the next year, those same games, while still amazing looking, were not...
So we know it has the biggest first day record in both North America and Australia so far. Not too shabby.
nasim, it must eat you up that the 360 is widening its gap with the PS3 and the fact that Halo 3 is breaking records, not just for videogames, but all of entertainment. Who cares what is happening in Japan. It's halfway around the world. We all know Microsoft won't impact Japan for a long time, if ever. But they sure are kicking ass here and in Europe.
Definitely. Microsoft may be able to succeed in Japan, but it will be a slow, uphill battle, where the odds are not in their favor. Any real success will most likely not come this decade, unless they develop an exclusive that the HAVE to have. I just don't see that happening though.
Liljezjinx, were you fed paint chips as a kid? I never said they were plain nutty, I just said that they have gaming tastes that resemble that of small children (when it comes to characters and overall environment of games). They don't like games that are dark and gory. They prefer games where the camera is set for them. They're just different.
If you reread the first paragraph of my post, you'll see that I am basically saying the Microsoft is out of touch with the Japanese...
They embrace American fads and styles, but yes, for some reason, they shun American electronics. I don't think that there is anything that Microsoft can do to succeed over there. The Japanese like happy, smiley, shiny games, like they're a bunch of 6 year olds. They just don't like the western style.
The only way Microsoft will succeed is if they just keep chipping away at the stone, so to speak. It may take a decade and a half, but if they prove to Japan that they're there...
The human character models and water effects leave a little to be desired. The rest seems pretty good though. The graphics aren't the best that the 360 has seen or will see, but the atmosphere of the game is incredible. The background scenery and music work well together to create a certain vibe in each level. Not to mention the bread and butter of the game, which is the gameplay itself is great. Halo lives up to the hype, if you're a shooter fan.
Nasim, please send us a postcard from Bizarro World and let us know how you're doing.
At the thought of Halo possibly coming to another console, people's mouths water. However, since Halo is the intellectual property of Microsoft, fanboys will have to settle for their usual case of sour grapes.
I have a feeling this article will be debunked in the next 48 hours. However if this is true, it still doesn't really hurt Microsoft. The key factor is that Microsoft owns Halo. They would just have to get someone else to develop the next Halo game. What would happen...
