This is obviously a 360 problem? So, how long have you been a game developer, and what is your role at Ubisoft?
This just goes to show that no console is perfect, and both the 360 and PS3 have their pros and cons.
I see some idiots above try to blame this problem solely on the 360. The article does not say the PS3 doesn't have enough memory, just memory problems. What does "memory problems" mean? Obviously something isn't right. Maybe they can't use all the RAM in ways that they want to to run the game smoothly.
I love how when these types of articles come ab...
Don't count on it going to PS3.
So what if MS rips off home. They all rip off each other. Sony copied the Wii to an extent with their controller. And isn't Sony going to rip off Microsoft's addicting Achievements?
If you were in charge of a company and you saw that a competitor offered something potentially profitable that you don't, what do you do? Get it for your own company, and hopefully improve upon it.
And this is all assuming that this will happen, which it may not.
There are certainly a lot of bitter people who wish Halo would come to their console of choice. Most people that say Halo is crap and only Xbot enjoy it would jump for joy if it came to their system, and you know it's true. Say what you want but H3 is increasing the 360's lead. Thank you Adam for saying that, the game is just fun.
I think Halo 3's graphics get bashed on more than they should. Some of the character models (human faces mostly) leave a little to be desired, ...
Let's start with reliability. Not every 360 is unreliable, especially newer ones. He kills his own argument with the last paragraph, saying why the 360 is no longer unreliable (I'm paraphrasing), but then says "it's too little too late". Really, fanboy? Now that Halo 3 is out, there are millions playing online at any given time (you can actually see how many are playing H3 when you are playing it). At least we know several million are working fine.
The 3 year war...
With the exception of the Wii, I don't think gameplay itself, or the way we play our games, will change much over the years.
Halo 3 and Bioshock are definitely next-gen games as far as graphics go. However, the gameplay is the same as we're used to. Xiphos is right in that it'll be really hard to innovate the first-person shooter. One trend that's starting to happen that I like is combining the western RPG and shooters, like Bioshock and the upcoming Mass Effect. It adds a ...
As long as it says Xbox on it.
But seriously, the whole RROD thing is outdated. The problems are less and less, and warranties have been given out, repair check returned, new chips put in, new heatsinks, etc. The argument is weak. The 360 had it problems, but it turned them around, just like the PS2 did last gen.
Now just to be clear, I didn't mean from my first post that the PS3 is crap, because it's not. Its game library isn't anything to write home about, ...
WOW, IT LOOKS LIKE NOTHING I HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE! Oh wait, yes, yes it does. It looks like a regular PS3, only crappier.
Can't wait for the Orange Box and Army of Two!
No one knows what direction the market will take until it happens. We know that the PS3 won't dominate like the PS2 did, but who is to say who will win at the end of the generation. I hope all 3 can do healthy business. We all like to argue on who is the best and who will win, but in the end, I'm glad that there is competition and choice between the 3. Lack of competition leads to complacency, and lack of quality.
That being said, go Microsoft!
@PopEmUp - The whole RROD argument is outdated. The unprecedented warranty extension, new heatsinks, returned repair fees and new microchips are well documented. As is the fact that the problem is becoming less and less. Now it's just become cliche cop-out rhetoric for Sony fanboys.
Now what? Are you going to bust on the 360's library? You can't. Don't worry the PS3 will eventually have a library it can brag about too, but right now, the 360's is unmatched, and people are...
I've gotta laugh every time some Sony fanboy finishes a rant with "PLAY B3YOND". LOL, yeah, you're playing b3yond all right, just keep telling yourself that.
Wow, the 360 is dominating the top 10 cross-platform games. #9 is a PS3 game, how did that get in there?
It is not out of the realm of possibility for Sony to make a comeback and be # 1. It is very unlikely of this happening anytime soon, but I guess anything is possible.
What I do know is that anyone who thinks that the other two companies are done for are idiots. The PS3 will not be as dominant as PS2. They WILL lose marketshare. They already have, especially to Nintendo. It is also doubtful that they will have a game that's as popular as Halo 3. Sorry, but even MGS4 will ...
Most people that buy the Wii are casual gamers that do little to no research as to what games it offers before they buy it. They just see the Wiimote and become excited because it's a new way to play. All you have to do is look at the selection and read the game reviews to realize that many games that are coming out for the Wii aren't very good. There's even an article in the latest EGM about how Nintendo doesn't have very high standards regarding what makes it onto their systems.
...
No,seriously, there was an article about how it was the #1 selling game in Japan. Here's the proof: http://www.vgchartz.com/jap...
If you look at the link, you'll see Halo 3 was the # 3 game, behind a DS and a PSP game. Maybe the article said that it was the #1 CONSOLE game, and not over all. Nevertheless, considering that Microsoft has thus far done crap in Japan, it's pretty impressive.
...
"Wii shortages may force consumers to buy PS3 or 360 instead"...and they'll be better off for it. The Wii isn't exactly impressing anyone with all of the stellar games coming out for it.
Socomnick just told a story of what happened to his cousin last Christmas. How can people disagree with what he said? It wasn't an opinion. Oh wait, I get it. You're mad because his cousin wanted a 360 instead of a PS3, so you disagreed with him. Babies.
There is no doubt that the PS3 is built for the long haul. I don't think anyone has ever disputed that fact, even its critics. I hope it lasts awhile, because I want people to get their money's worth.
I however prefer the western style of gameplay. Since the majority of games I buy are shooters, I will stick with Microsoft since I feel their consoles and especially controllers are more suitable for them. I also prefer the western RPG's, and I really love the new shooter/R...
