"With 51 gigs movie companies can put the exact same stuff on the hddvd disc that they put on the blu ray"
That simply is not true. The current HD DVD players are not capable of playing that 51GB disk, and none of the publishers are therefore going to publish movies on it. The Blu ray players on the market can play 50GB disks right now, and players like the PS3 can play the 100GB disks with a firmware update.
"Blu ray still has the advantage in ove...
You are a parent, looking for a gaming, or should I say, family entertainment system, this Christmas. You have heard loads of stuff about the Wii and how mums and dads and grandparents are all playing Wii Sports, which comes in the box.
You see the 360 Arcade, and really only know about Halo 3, a first person shooter space war game type thing. It comes with a few games, but you have really only heard of Pacman, not really 'new' is it?
Seriously, what would you ch...
I meant in regard to this generation of consoles. Many people will know about the PS2, but the message about the PS3 and the games available for it, does not seem to have any momentum as yet.
@Mesh1, does your mother know you are using her computer to talk to strangers on the internet?
Aren't you supposed to spend the half term break by doing homework. I'm sure you have plenty of punctuation and grammar exercises to do.
HD DVD is inferior technology. Seriously, both technologies are simply storage devices. Blu Ray has more capacity. I do not understand why anyone would want to choose the inferior format.
Its not as if it is innovative like the Wii, with the associated price difference, both formats are priced about the same, the players will be priced about the same, and the functionality will be about the same (it is only software after all)
Its a no brainer to me, and getting ...
Correction. The 360 sales dropped 11% whilst the PS3 sales dropped 12%, so it is probably a natural drop just because of the time of the month.
The real movers are the Wii and the DS. The Wii increased sales by 20% and the DS by 65%. Nintendo are taking the piss out of Microsof and Sony.
Halo 3 has sold just over half of the Halo 2 sales, at least in the states.
What this tells me is that the US is still very much a FPS market, and the 360 fits tha...
The updates are delivered to all countries aren't they? If so then the Japanese market needs the update as they can buy the controller.
It is annoying that they don't release the gear in all countries at once, but unfortunately the manufacturers really do not care about the customer. Their PR says they do, but time after time their actions prove them to be liars.
Microsoft have a bottomless well of money, and they are willing to spend it on advertising and marketing rather than research, development, and quality design.
Sony need to make a profit, they will (probably) charge third parties less to publish on the platform, given that any online functionality is provided and hosted by the third party, rather than the mandatory Live requirements and, no doubt, fees.
Microsofts branding is well established, and Sony are really...
I did think that too. It would be a natural extension, although I suspect that it would be too easy to beat him. No matter how much they try and make it accurate, the games still allow you to drive a car way more aggressively than in real life, thats why I mentioned the balancing of the times.
Well, the demo didn't seem to have the commentary which I felt ruined the atmosphere, or maybe it was turned off by default. The pace of the game didn't seem much different from Fifa 08, although it is a little unfair to say that I guess, until you have spent a bit more time with it.
It just left me uninspired, which is probably better than saying it was awful. You know how sometimes you try a game and have really high expectations, but then it just seems naff? That was what it...
Yeah, I looked at that too, but it is £300 more expensive than the Onkyo, for not really a great deal of features. More optical digital inputs would be nice, but that is only whilst other devices like the media PC and Sky Digital get upgraded to HDMI, or I buy a newer 360 with HDMI, but I am loathe to do that as it isn't really an 'upgrade'.
I have upgraded from a 3802, which I really enjoyed, and did worry a little about moving away from Denon, but the Onkyo is really goo...
Very cool. I wonder how realistic the times will be, compared to Stig's of course.
and loads of PS1 games coming along. The PSN is rampiong up for Christmas. Can't wait for Everyday Shooter either.
The PS3 does not upscale through component, only through HDMI. If you are connected with component cables the settings for DVD upscaling are turned off.
I have just bought myself an Onkyo 875 amp so I can listen to the True High Definition Audio on Spiderman 3. It would really suck if there wasn't a high definition audio track on the Transformers disk. Oh, wait, there isn't!! May as well watch it on upscaled DVD then, really. Can't see why I would want to pay High Definition Pr...
The demo on the 360 was awful too, compared to Fifa anyway. In the end, after seeing a friends Fifa 08 on the PS3, I got Fifa 08 (on the PS3). Next year may be PES year
I love it. A family pack with one controller. Real innovation. Tell me, does it have 'no hidden extras' written on the box :o)
you should state that gamers in the US are truly excited, because in Europe we are feeling more than a little let down by Microsofts empty promises.
Those Looney Tunes cartoons and the deal with Nickelodeon do not apply to us Europeans, there is no sign of any downloadable movies, and they always release their games later so the live service is full of 12 year old Ohio cookiemonsters spitting crumbs at the microphone and shouting 'noob' to all and sundry, by the time we get to ...
You can't really count the number drops as indicators for comparison, as with a near 2:1 difference the PS3 would always look bad.
Indeed, if you check out the percentage drops you can see that the PS3 dropped 14% and the 360 12%. Given a reasonable level of error in the VGC figures I think we can assume it is a seasonal or weekly pattern.
We shall see over the next few weeks I guess
This might be a media extender, rather than a 360.
Microsoft Home server is out now, and they will be wanting manufacturers to bring out extenders for it.
Just a thought.
It must hurt to have a 'PS3 movement'. I would stop swallowing all that garbage you keep repeating, and get some laxatives to clean out your tubes, so to speak :o)
