There is no Sony coffin you muppet. I am sure you'll get on fine with a 360 anyway. I reckon the Halo community of 12 year old trashtalkers is just up your street.

I think thats a little unfair really, as you don't know how I have everything hooked up. My media PC is hooked up to a 32" LCD TV, whereas my 360 and PS3 are hooked up to a projector with an 80" screen. As I sit around 3 mtrs away from the screens then it can be a pain to browse the internet using the media PC, depending on the resolution and the size of text on a site, whereas I find it quite good to browse the internet on the PS3 whilst waiting for a download or whatever. The medi...

The top selling Blu Ray on Amazon.co.uk at the moment is Harry Potter at no. 91. Top Selling HD DVD is also Harry Potter ranked at 188.

nuff said.

Nice of them to include the PS3 as a standalone player for a change. Perhaps its just a coincidence that the PS3 is going through a sales surge at the moment, which helps to dilute the figures, but who cares anyway, while Blu Ray outsells HD DVD week after week after week?

There are many reasons why a company would conduct a survey like this. Perhaps they are simply doing their bit to promote the PS3. After all, if you go around asking if people are going to buy it, then those people may take another look, and now that the price has dropped and there are alternative colours available, they might then purchase.

I think I am safe in saying that MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive and will not appear on the 360, as the developers have said so time and again. Hi...

I can't think of anything that I really want it to do. Obviously it would be nice to have the internet browser and customisable themes similar to the PS3 but I just don't think you will ever get that. It is just a games console at the end of the day, no more, no less.

This parental control thing will be there I guess, but I don't think they will do anything else. Perhaps it would be cool if they supported more codecs when using it as a media extender, but my media PC and 360 ar...

I heard from a couple of PC gamers that it was a bit short. There are only 6 levels I understand.

Maybe they can add a few levels or something to improve it, before it comes out on PS3. They will also sort out the aspect ratio I guess.

I liked the 360 demo, very dark and atmospheric.

The Wii has tapped into a market of people who like 'consumertronics', or rather, technology like the ipod, which is easy to use, trendy, and 'social'.

Traditionally, games consoles and people who played them have never been considered 'social', although perhaps in the distant past when games like pong and pacman were all the rage that was different.

The design of the DS really set Nintendo apart and products like Brain Training appeared at just the right time to...

If thats what you think then fine. I believe that the gaming market is exactly what they should be fighting for, because we are the right demographic. The majority of gamers have their own discretionary income, very technology literate and also early adopters. We are the people who tell our mums, dads, grandparents, and friends what to buy.

At the moment there are over 6 million people telling other people to buy a PS3, and they are showing Blu Ray movies at their house and edu...

How can HD DVD be better value? In order to play the movies I need to buy a standalone player or an add-on.

Buy a PS3 and get a Blu Ray Player free, compatible with HDMI 1.3, compatible with full HD Audio, and with all the features necessary for online content and PiP. When you eventually get a 1080p display you will have the ultimate HD experience, as the PS3 will still be going strong because it is a quality built machine.

If you have the PS3 and know you will ...

It is a bug. It makes no logical sense to region lock a demo and allow it to be downloaded putting the strain on the servers. It then makes no sense to have a demo which does not come up with a proper error message, as in trying to play a NTSC game on a PAL machine for example. On my machine it just spins the hard drive for ever until I quit the game, and then the PS3 reboots. It is obviously a bug, due to them not testing on a non US machine.

Can't see what all the fuss is abo...

Do you think it is immature? He isn't doing the usual bashing, he regrets that he may have been able to agree a single format and didn't, and he also states that Sony is not betting the farm on Blu Ray's success, implying that should HD DVD win, then Sony will produce content for it.

Not sure what you got out of his statement, but obviously your reading skills are different to mine.

Howard Stringer is all about profit, and he aims to get all of Sony's different d...

So here I am talking about the Blu Ray/HD DVD battle, and you answer with a whole bunch of PR speak regarding the PS3, none of which came from Howard Stringer, the guy I was referring to, and very little regarding Blu Ray. I can see you are a bit of a ready, fire, aim, type of person. That will be a shame for your future girlfriends (if you have any)

Sales talk is sales talk, its to be expected. It is always the same and has been ever present in every generation of gaming. It i...

It is amazing how some people seem to always post just half of the facts.

The 20GB PS3 in Japan had a price cut on October the 17th, but the new 40GB white PS3 will release on 17th November at a price LOWER than the 20GB PS3. It is more than likely that there are no stocks of 20GB around and even if there are then many clever buyers will be waiting for the November price drop.

The exact same thing happened in the UK and also in the US. The 360 sales in Japan are ...

I think it is a mature response from Stringer. He knows that this is not good for the consumer, and he is not complacent enough to think that Blu Ray is guaranteed success. That is a good attitude to have, completely different from the arrogance and shady business practices of the HD DVD owners, Toshiba and Microsoft.

I downloaded it last night and was disappointed when it didn't work, but chilled out once I looked on here and found out that it was not working for other PAL consoles.

It seems strange that it was intentional as not announcing it still puts the load on the servers, so there was no benefit. I suspect it is just a bug or something that they need to do for PAL consoles, but I guess we shall see.

Overall the UK store has been getting better, although this week was n...

4 movies (Casino Royale, Ghost Rider, Die Hard 4, Spiderman 3)

4 Games (Resistance, Fifa 08, Motorstorm, Eye of Judgement)

A few games from PSN

Will purchase another 3 or 4 Blu Ray movies before Christmas, and at least 3 games, maybe 4 depending on Haze.

Just go visit amazon.com and look at the sales rank of the blu ray disks compared to HDDVD. It is obvious that even in the US, where HD DVD has its largest audience, it is losing to Blu ray.

With Spiderman 3 just released, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean on their way, HD DVD is facing a bleak winter.

I have seen this same information a number of times lately. It has no references and came from a comment posted here; http://www.product-reviews....

Anyone who cares to read through the comments on that post will see how biased and ill-informed it is. Here is a post showing tests between the Cell and the G80 which shows a significant performance...

I agree about the cinema and their age restriction policies, but what about when that movie is released on DVD? It will be offered in the same stores that sell video games, and therefore has the same opportunity to be sold to minors.

If you are asking PS3 owners to move on from the 33% failure rate of the 360, then surely it is fair to point out that 360 owners should move on from the lack of PS3 games. My understanding is that there are 65 games available for the PS3 and then more available on the PSN. These games cover many genres and in terms of the eye toy, offer experiences that are currently unavailable for the 360. That is over 5 games per month available since launch (in the US)

Is that fair? Or can...
