Did you read the article? If you did, then your conclusion shouldn't be that it's "biased and unfair".
Sony charges for it and they're also called out. Microsoft doesn't; it's a feature accessible even to those that don't have an XBL Gold membership. And you made the same point that was made in the article: you can still use physical backups on the other systems, but not on the Switch. So, Nintendo is charging users for cloud saves but not ...
"These journalists need to be honest and just come out and say they’re mad that Switch doesn’t allow you to backup your saves through external storage like most other gaming platforms."
Literally in the article: "The main reason why so many Switch users (myself included) have badgered Nintendo to add the ability to backup save data to the cloud is due to the fact there currently is no other way to backup any data from the Switch."
How ...
To an extent it did, however, I decided to just keep the discussion focused on home consoles.
Don't lump me in with you, please. I'm not a "fanboy", I'm simply a fan of gaming as a whole. I praise and criticize Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft when necessary. Anytime there's good news about either company, I'm happy. If all three are doing well, the entire industry benefits, including us as customers.
If you want to spend time insisting that any positive report like this that isn't explicitly about the PS4 is just "fanboy spinning&...
Gotta love all the comments I'm seeing with people so upset that this report came from Nintendo Everything.
Had these report been: "PS4 Wins February 2018 NPD" from 'PS4istheBest.com', I wonder if the same people would be complaining.....No, of course not.
Put your raging bias in a box for a second and realize that this news actually came from Mr. Piscatella who's a part of the NPD Group. HE'S the one who's shared this info, not Ni...
I think the better question to ask is, why does this upset you so much? It's just a statistic, man. Getting bent out of shape about it changes nothing. Unless Sony is paying you to be their cheerleader, a report like should just be considered general good news.
Yeesh, this website.
@Yi-Long: "I say it doesn't. It's actually been protected devices like the VITA and the WiiU which have had problems getting decent software-support. "
Pardon me, but isn't the PS4 also a "protected device?" Hasn't it been selling well for four years, without hacking or piracy? Breaking records, again, without hacking or piracy? What about the Switch; also breaking records, without hacking or piracy?
So remind me again ...
How?
Sure, because anytime after a system is hacked, piracy doesn't follow right after. We can go with that story if you'd like, but history would like to have a word with you first.
I mentioned this "hardware sales increase" scenario in the article. Even if this gets a few people interested in buying the hardware, that doesn't make it okay. A platform that can be easily hacked is a platform that developers become wary of. Hardware sales are only one piece of the puzzle. What about software sales? If users can get the games for free, that naturally lowers software sales, making it unappealing to developers.
So again, hacking and piracy do ...
There is a connection. Spawn Wave, who was mentioned in the article, did a video review on the dock a few months ago. He's been using it without any issues until the update. He said that after using the dock for just an hour on the new firmware, it killed his Switch. While it's true the Nyko Dock already had issues, it didn't affect everyone. Now it is, along with just about every other third party dock out there.
If that were an issue then they most likely wouldn't have created a USB adapter to add the functionality.
As I stated in the article, wired connections always offer a more stable connection over wireless ones. At high speeds, a wireless connection will work alright, but using a wired connection allows a device to access the maximum available speeds without latency or random dips.
Doesn't matter how good a person's Wi-Fi connection is, it's simply not as reliable/stable as a wired connection. That's why most online games recommend playing with a wired connection in the first place.
If you're expecting a device with a tablet body and a battery to have similar capabilities as other devices that are literal boxes that stay plugged into a wall, then that's on you.
Nintendo and Nvidia had to balance price and power. Not an easy thing to do when your budget is $300, but they did a pretty awesome job considering the situation. Yes, the Switch is not as capable as the base PS4/XBO, but considering its size, and the fact that it RUNS ON A BATTERY, what...
In what universe is Mario Kart anything similar to Forza/Gran Turismo aside from being a racing game?
I specifically mentioned a first-party created racing simulator, not one from a third-party.
Revised Joy-Con/Pro Controller designs could easily be released with analog controllers. Also, the effect of analog inputs could be simulated inside the game itself if necessary.
1.) You say that is if peripherals can't be created.
2.) Switch Online is coming in September.
3.) Yes, because the Switch's library only consists of indie games and 'cartoons'. Whatever you want to tell yourself, buddy.
The title isn't "clickbait".
Clickbait literally means wording that is deliberately exaggerated/misleading. That is not the case here, as the entire point of the article is built around why Nintendo charging for cloud saves is kind of unfair.
And since Sony is also criticized in the article, I still don't see why you're pretending as if Nintendo is the only target here. Also, since PS4 users can still make physical backups for free, ...
