It's definitely worth it. The whole process of setting up a JP Playstation account takes no more than 10 minutes, and although you may not use it extremely often, there are a lot of things that will pop up randomly only on the JP store and overall it will end up worth having one ready so you can grab them.
For example, of the notable things I've used it for, I grabbed the several demos, including the original Yakuza 3 demo a little more than a year ago when it was getting ready ...
If Yakuza 3 feels like GOTY for you, you should definitely check out the demo of Yakuza 4 on the Japanese Playstation store. It's insane how many things are crammed in it for just a demo. And even from just that snippit, you can see that game easily improves on every aspect of Yakuza 3 tenfold.
It's visuals improve significantly, it's audio and sound effects are crisper, and the fighting system is even more diverse with even more brutal finishing moves (really epic). The only re...
I couldn't agree more. I was dumbfounded at sites and magazines giving it low review scores. Yeah it sucked that we lost a little content, but it was still an amazing and massive game. It's been much more worth my money than many other game's I've played so far this gen, and I've quite through quite a lot of games in the past few years. It makes me concerned on how Yakuza 4 will be received when it becomes localized. All I can hope for is that Sega gets a new Western marketing team, because t...
I've actually grabbed and ran through several of these, though overall I still have a pretty decent stack of games to finish up (or in some cases, even starting them). Until recently I still hadn't tried a few older games like Disgaea 3, but was pleasantly surprised (and had quite a few laughs) when I fired it up.
But aside from that, I'm still only about halfway through all the missions in Yakuza 3 (it's so amazing), working on FFXIII (got it from Gamefly, it's alright so far),...
I agree with most of this list's game choices although some of the bosses chosen from the games were odd, given that in some of them there were much more intimidating or epic bosses. Here's a few changes I would have made:
Personally, in MGS4 I would have chosen either the Liquid or Vamp battle, since they were both astounding. With Demons Souls, I felt that Armored Spider was the second easiest boss (Phalanx being the first), and would have rather seen the False King or Flame L...
I have played both somewhat extensively, and I don't think either is bad by any means. I actually really enjoy them both. Each has their own positive and negative points, which you could go into extensively, but honestly both of the games are a lot of fun, and very worthwhile.
Couldn't agree more with your list there (although for me, Demons Souls would have to be on the list as well). I'd definitely pick up Ratchet and Clank for another play through if they added motion control and maybe a small bit of new content. And as someone mentioned earlier, Okami would be very cool with those controls as well.
Course all this speculation makes me wonder what a game like Ninja Gaiden would be like with Move. Could be pretty crazy, and possibly quite a workout, ...
@Huwmor, well actually it's an entirely different game. Not a whole lot is known so far about the game, but certain things have been shown and confirmed. First off, it's the story of a character named Noctis, and the game is very Noir. In some ways it's reminiscent of FFVII and FFVIII's darker side. They have a few videos of Versus right now which I suggest checking out. The game will be taking place in the same universe/world as FFXIII, but the characters, areas, and setting will be all diff...
Yeah I would imagine we will hear more on The Agency and DC Universe's release dates. They apparently were at Comic-con 09, and they were getting much closer to revealing a release date (at least for DCUO, The Agency might be releasing slightly later than DCUO from what I was reading). Regardless I am definitely interested in them both.
@Omega, not trying to be rude or offensive in any way, but I wanted to know, when was that announced? The only thing I've found was an article w...
For me, my top 5 (in no specific order) would be...
1. Demons Souls
2. Yakuza 3
3. Metal Gear Solid 4
4. Uncharted 2
5. Heavy Rain
Honorable mentions to MAG, Ratchet and Clank series, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, inFAMOUS, Valkyria Chronicles, and Batman:AA.
Wow, I had no idea a new trailer came out yesterday. I was just talking about DX3 earlier with a few friends. Really glad they included the line about more to be revealed at E3, since there is still a lot that I think everyone wants to know and see.
I still don't know completely how to feel about DX3 though. Being an enormous fan of the first game, I am concerned about some of their choices so far with this one. One of the main things is their design choice with the regenerating...
Dude, if you think Yakuza 3 is amazing, you should check out the Yakuza 4 demo on the Japan PS store. It's like a massive leap forward in everything, and Yakuza 3 was already an amazing title. On the topic of cut content, I'm around 25 hours into Yakuza 3 right now, and while there is some stuff that was cut, I have to say that it's not too tremendous at all. It's enough though that really die-hard Yakuza fans like me may end up buying the imported release as well, but not so much that anyone...
Completely agree Callahan. What most people don't see, is that Sega actually doesn't really know what is best with this franchise's western release in mind. All of what you said taken into account, and then add onto that the complete lack of marketing, and you end up with problems like this. Now, I am right about to head out and grab my pre-order, because I love and support the series regardless of it being late or missing a bit of it's original content, but Sega needs to get their heads on s...
For those of you who haven't yet tried it, the Yakuza 4 demo is actually on the Japan Playstation store. Sadly, it doesn't seem to include English subs, but regardless, it is truly epic. The demo is massive, with plenty to do through it. I was quite surprised playing it, as there was a pretty huge cut-scene, the ability to play the ping-pong mini-game, go into the Sega Club arcade, plenty of fights to be found, and much more just in the demo. And I'd have to say that from Yakuza 3 to 4, the g...
Could not agree more Pennywise. I've got my copy pre-ordered, and it was supposed to be released today. Apparently many Gamestops all around have pushed back the release till tomorrow for some asinine reason. Between the massive delay getting it here, the fact that some small stuff still got cut and all they needed to do was English subtitles, manual, and menus for the game, and the poor choice in it's release, this was just one more irritation on the pile.
Releasing so close to...
I completely agree, these are both games I've been interested since their announcement, but the lack of info as of recently is strange. And then there is also the multi-game contact Sony signed with NCsoft which we've heard essentially nothing on since it's announcement. Maybe we'll hear more at E3.
I had signed up for the beta of The Agency when the website for it first went online, and essentially it was also supposed to be a sign-up for their newsletter. Since then the beta s...
Would definitely love a Ninja Scroll game. I could see it being similar to Onimusha, but Jubei I think would make an even more epic main character, not to mention that the game would be even more graphically violent and feature very questionable sexual scenes.
Beside that, I would agree on the Desert Punk game, but even more I would love to see a Berserk game for this generation. The one made on PS2 never was localized, and that really sucked since it was an massively epic game....
I actually personally ran into a problem, I don't know if it was mentioned though in the article though (don't care to read it since people are saying it contains spoilers). My problem (and a few of my buddies as well) was that certain videos in the game are not properly playing. For example, if there is a TV or videophone that is playing something, I can hear the audio fine, but the video is missing. I found that deleting the patch and refusing to update fixes the problem, and you won't lose...
I think most people can gather from my avatar that I'm a huge Deus Ex fan. I've been loosely following the progress they've made on this through their forums and other sites. It is concerning some of the choices they have made to development, but I have confidence that they will at least make a better game than the atrocity that is DE2. I really hope we get more info on this soon, and maybe a scheduled release window.
The thing is, that this is an upgrade on many fronts. I agree that cheap knock-off games that copy everything or most aspects of a game are lame, but this game is definitely not that. If you head to their site - http://www.3ddotgameheroes.... - you can read up on a lot of the differences that this game has as opposed to old Zelda games, and the similarities it shares. I'll list a few differences that I took note of:
