This is actually a very fun game. I followed this project (and beta tested) since almost as far back as when Flagship had developed this as their testing ground for the online system to be used in Hellgate: London, and eventually spawned into a real game of it's own. It's come a very long way since then, having less classes, only the overhead view, and a single town, into many towns, more classes, an "MMO camera" and much more content.

I'm a huge fan of...

Yeah the game is actually a lot of fun, and definitely features a lot of content for your money. In some ways you can tell it derives a lot from other dungeon crawlers such as Diablo, however it's a genre not currently represented almost at all on consoles, and has been sparse even on PC. A few buddies and I have played through a decent amount, and definitely the best part of the game is the multiplayer aspects. The enemies scale difficulty with your levels, as well as scaling up based on...

Thanks for the responses guys. And yes I believe you are actually right Wolfie. I had thought the difficulty you start on was simply "normal", then after beating it you would unlock Hero, followed by Legend, but I believe I misunderstood that, and there is no "normal". I believe you begin on Hero difficulty and following that Legend is unlocked. Still, not too shabby for a $13 PSN title.

The biggest problem with this "review", is that almost every one of his complaints are about minor or invalid things that shouldn't be that big of a deal. Such as the Auto-Equip feature not putting on the equipment he wanted, which is non-essential and is a tool used for new players and others who don't care. He complains about the fact that you can't see an item's stats until you pick it up, which again is non-essential and is merely his personal idea, and if he con...

@Dogs_Pinoy, Actually, Haze was a mess of a project regardless of it's plans. If you look around a bit through the different interviews and some of the old trailers, you will find that the game actually changed immensely many times over. Originally Haze was slated to be a PC exclusive and had a very different story as indicated by the first full public trailer that was released I believe in 2006.

At this point, it displayed very promising story and had the potential for ...

Glad to help bud. Indeed, it's a sad day when it's such a significant percent of games have these sort of issues post-launch. I've actually taken that route of waiting on most games now, and just renting them instead. Blockbuster's Gamepass or Gamefly are becoming more viable options for gaming on the cheap as the months pass. I actually rented Dragon Age and Dragon Age 2, which I think is a good move, given that within 6 months there will inevitably be a full expansion pack f...

That was very well said PooEgg, although, my experience differed some. I was not a fan of the original Dragon Age, and just barely made it through the game before quitting out of sheer annoyance. At first I had started on PS3, but also tried the PC version. My full play-through was on PS3, since I had gotten pretty far in it before starting on PC. Because of that, I was dealing with insanely long load times (up to 5 minutes several times, but averaging 2 minutes).

Beyond that...

I'd definitely agree on starting with Yakuza 3. It will give you a much better insight into the series of the Yakuza games than starting directly at Yakuza 4. You could start at Yakuza 4, however you'd be missing out on playing through a lot of big events, or making connections with a lot of the characters you will meet in advance. And even despite the content cuts in Yakuza 3, you're still looking at potentially 60 or more hours of content.

You'll be getting...

Yeah Bathyj, what everyone has been saying is definitely accurate. The Yakuza 4 demo is actually a really bad representation of the game, because it's just a handful of fights and not the actual free-roaming story/RPG gameplay. Just like Nix said, take your time with this series, and consider giving Yakuza 3 a try first. The game is pretty cheap right now (around $20 USD on amazon and several other retailers last I checked), and it's a massive game with a lot of content (potentially o...

I definitely with what Gravemaker and nycredude said. As awesome as the fourth game is, the third is equally as great, and tells a very important story about Kazuma. Like nycredude said, you'll also get the backstory for the prior two games, which is somewhat important and will give you more relation and connection to many of the characters.

The videos are nice and lengthy too, so that should give you have a full understanding of the Yakuza world. And the game overall ha...

I would definitely take their review with a grain of salt. Greg admits he hasn't played a large portion of the game in his comments for the presentation score, so we don't even know if he finished it. If you want further verification of their sketchy review system, check their White Knight Chronicles review. They admit they didn't even touch the online portion of the game (since the servers weren't online yet), but still scored it poorly even though the online aspects of the g...

Thanks Achemki, and well said yourself. I think we need to all get away from throwing around the whole "fanboy" term so much, as it's just stereotyping gamers who like certain games/platforms usually without basis. There definitely are some folks around who are way too fanatical in every sense of the word, and could be labeled as fanboys, but I just don't see the point in petty insults and silly names like that. It's easier just to ignore them, and have actual conversati...

To add to your point Redempteur, if this game really was "Deja Vu" as he put it, then he really shouldn't have had any problems navigating Kamurocho or having to figure out the map, since it's been in every Yakuza game so far. Even furthermore, he complains about bosses that, "could pull off moves I couldn't and never missed a move", which is rediculous to say in the least. If everyone could do exactly the same moves, then where's the fun or element of surp...

Yeah, all the animations and much more have been improved since Yakuza 3. If you want to see first-hand before it's released (only 5 days till US release, awesome!), it may be a bit of a pain to find now, but the Yakuza 4 Japanese demo was actually a very different one than what we received, and features a full hour or more of gameplay and exploration like you normally would do (similar to how the Yakuza 3 demo was for all regions).

Everything seems improved ten-fold, in...

Yeah, I couldn't agree more. For me, I'm a PS+ member, so I got one of the DLC packs for cheap, but the other I still haven't grabbed yet due to so many other games coming out. It's like you said, I think most players were either going to be content with the amount of content on the disc, or they ended up stopping playing by the time this DLC was released.

Either way, the follow-up problem is that an average gamer who's on a budget will look at the MAG DL...

I agree with that, however I would like to see a better effort put into to these games, as well as all of Sega's re-releases of older games than what has been shown so far. I love a lot of things Sega has been developing/publishing recently, and I'll keep supporting them, especially stuff like the Yakuza series, Vanquish, Valkyria Chronicles, etc... however their teams that handle re-makes and re-releases needs to step their game up significantly.

Over the years I...

Hey Scott, I definitely agree with you. I got into MAG day 1, then after a few months of playing I took a hiatus from it until just a couple months back. I've gotten back into it again, playing periodically. While I really love the game, I often feel that there's still a lot of work to be done to really make it feel balanced and polished. There are some hurdles and challenges that the game faces, some which Zipper have been working at, some which they aren't working at, and some w...

Good call on that one. I was a huge fan of those stories, and I definitely would like to see them follow that design a bit more, however I'll wait till we can see a better overall image to decide on it. I don't know how Rocksteady specifically makes their Batman titles regarding design, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get some of the great writers of Batman to come in and give their ideas, beyond just referencing the different stories out there.

On a side note...

I think the only thing I'm personally missing from Home, is the video and audio streaming they had talked about (I think at E3 2008). For me, I know I'd spend a lot more time on Home if my buddies and I could kick back with our mics on, watching a movie or TV show in one of our Home Spaces together. It would basically it would be our own MST3K, commenting and making jokes about awful acting or improbable scenarios. And if I wanted to show someone a band that I enjoy, I could put it on...

Dark Sector was somewhat fun, although it really needed a lot of refinement. I didn't play through the entire game, however I'd say I made it through well more than half of it. The fact that your character sort of "evolves" as you play is pretty neat, and the PS3 version has the added effect of being able to use the Sixaxis to guide the glave weapon, which in my opinion gives a bit more satisfaction to the kills you get with it, as opposed to other weapons or control methods...
