Certainly can't disagree with the author and his reasoning. Pretty much sums up what I think of the tech. I'll stick with my mouse/keyboard for PC gaming and standard controller for console games (plus the occasional peripheral like a steering wheel for a racing game).
@lugia 4000, I agree 100% that this review is ridiculous. I can't believe the crap he says about BF2, one of my all time favorite games. I put in over 600 hours into that game and didn't have any of the problems this guy had.
Without exclusives, what's the point of owning one console over another? Exclusives define a console and what kind of gamer it wants to appeal to. For me, I'm primarily a PC gamer, but I also own a PS3 because I think it makes a great complement to my PC gaming. The reason I chose a PS3 is because it's exclusives appeal to me more than the other consoles. Most of the 360 exclusives are also on PC, so I already get those versions and the Wii never appealed to me because of the SD r...
@ULTIMATE_REVENGE, I brought it up because the title says "Kinect can drive a car" and that's obviously false. This Kinect car is nothing but a toy and really not that impressive. It looks like it's more following a programmed course rather than driving itself. Throw so more stuff in it's way and let's see it can really navigate by itself.
Not fake, but nothing more than a toy. I mean, really, what can this be used for other than a toy? A true autonomous car, like the ones in the DARPA challenge, are crammed full of sensors. This Kinect car makes a good toy, I guess.
@a08andan, I forgot to note that I have the same setup in my room: I have my PC and PS3 hooked up to a HDTV. Only difference is mine is 40", but I'm sitting a little farther back than you (about 3 feet). The other difference is my PS3 is a sidekick to my PC since I do the majority of my gaming on the PC. However, the PS3 is great choice for their exclusives plus games that I enjoy on the console more, namely sports. All in all, though, the PC plus PS3 is a great gaming combo that can...
Yikes, this is a blog?! It's so short, I thought it might have been a "tweet".
It's kind of hard to make suggestions when you don't list what type games you like and what kind of budget you have for games. These are the games and types that I have really enjoyed on the PS3.
Action/Adventure: Uncharted series, Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV, Dead Space
Shooters: BF Bad Company 2, Killzone 2, MAG, Resistance 2
Sports: FIFA, MLB The Show, Madden, Fight Night 4
Racing: Gran Turismo 5, NFS: Hot Pursuit,...
@AGhostFromThePast, did I mention PS3 or any of this other BS that your spouting? Why do you insist on bashing Sony. I'm not a console fanboy and primarily a PC gamer. I really don't care who wins this console war that you fantards are so obsessed with. I was just stating a fact: handhelds are not consoles. They are cheaper and appeal to a different audience: mostly kids. If you think that all gaming machines are consoles, then I hate to break it to you, but then the PC is the number ...
The PS2 is the king of the consoles for now and the foreseeable future. The DS is a handheld and a completely different market. There are three gaming platforms and comparisons should be made between products within each platform and not between platforms. Consoles are the Wii, 360 and PS3. Handhelds are portable gaming machines like the DS, PSP, iPod, iPad and the smart phones. The third gaming platform is the computer (desktops and laptops): Windows based PC's, Linux PC's, and Mac...
Are you sure? Because I think your comment is the stupidest I've ever seen. Handhelds are not consoles. Nothing to do with fanboyism.
The biggest difference is that the Sega Genesis and SNES were more reliable because they were solid state consoles with game cartridges. They had absolutely no moving parts. Today's consoles are much more like mini-PC's and have lots of the same components making them more complicated. HDD's and disc drives have moving parts and are much more susceptible to break downs. Also, since they're like mini-PC's, the CPU's, GPU's and memory all create heat; much more heat ...
Good point. Didn't realize the focus was on brand new franchises for the PS3. GT5 just took so long that it felt like a new franchise....lol.
Actually, since this article is about which franchise will first hit 10 million sales on the PS3 (and not individual games), I believe the author missed out on another possibility: Gran Turismo. I think that Prologue has sold over 5 million copies already and now that GT5 has been released, I could easily see it hit another 5 million in sales before either Resistance 3 or Uncharted 3 are even released. In fact, at the pace that GT5 is selling, it should only be a couple of months.
I agree with the title and want games, not gimmicks. However, this quote from the article bothered me: "What Sony needs are more exclusive titles. At this point, while the PlayStation 3 has a fine series in the form of God of War, there isn't much else worth mentioning."
Excuse me? More exclusives? Nothing worth mentioning besides God of War? The reason I bought a PS3 was their awesome lineup of exclusives (I won't bother listing them all because it's a ...
As primarily a PC gamer, I think the best choice is the PS3. I bought my slim last year and it's been a great complement to my PC gaming. Since I do most of my gaming on the PC, the 360 didn't seem to be a good choice for me. Most of it's exclusives, I can already get on the PC and with better resolution and graphics. Plus, since a console is only my "sidekick", paying $50 a year (now $60) to play online didn't make a lot of sense to me. The PS3, on the other hand, h...
Hey AAACE5, you do realize you submitted an article over a year old? September 7, 2009 to be exact. Actually, quite impressive you were able to get something that old approved: the people who approved it must have been smoking something.
@THC CELL, this is a joke that it got approved. Anyone see the date? September 7, 2009! How can you take this article serious? GT5 was over a year from release.
"Battlefield 3: What we know so Far". What I know is I want this game so BAD! I'm primarily a PC gamer and I've really been disappointed with the COD series as of late (18 players in Black Ops and MW2, what's up with that?). DICE is my favorite FPS developer and can't wait for their newest creation. BF3 is going to be awesome!
Wow, no reason for the hate. I don't hate console gamers. In fact, I've owned several consoles in the past (Genesis, PS1 and PS2) and currently own a PS3. I love my PC gaming and my console gaming. In fact, I think that the PC and PS3 make an incredible combo. Before you 360 gamers get upset, I just think the PS3 makes a better complement to my PC gaming because most 360 exclusives are also on PC (so I get those and multiplats on the PC) and the PS3 exclusives are truly exclusive (plu...
