@Blaze929, Spitfire_Riggz and Kon. In order for it to be an alternative or option, it needs to be viable. This is just not viable. Did you really watch the video? It's almost as bad as that horrible Deca Sports Paintball game. Who would want to play an FPS like this? You? Then, by all means, have at it.
I saw it in this Youtube video. Look at about the 1:20 mark and the announcer states that there will be five classes: Assault, Medic, Support, Engineer, and Sniper. However, that was from a leaked document from 2007. I'm really hoping they divide up the Sniper into Sniper and Spec Ops because the Sniper doesn't need C4 and it should go to an "assault" style class like Spec Ops.
Actually, it had seven: Assault, Sniper, Support, Medic, Anti-tank, Special Forces, and Engineer. If you look at the article, there is a BF2 graphic that shows all seven.
I agree with you Pandamobile, but you have 6 classes listed, not the 7 like BF2. Frankly, I like your list just fine because I think the Engineer/AT combo works well and doesn't need to be separate like BF2. Oh and sorry if my second paragraph on my post (#3) was similar to yours: you got yours in just seconds before me so I didn't get a chance to read yours first. Oh well, we looks like we're thinking alike for BF3. I, for one, would like to see the BF2 size maps and classes with...
Article needs a couple of corrections: "The last few Battlefield games, Bad Company and Bad Company 2, only featured 4 classes, Assault, Recon, Support and Engineer." Actually, Support is not one of the classes, the Medic is. Also, "previous Battlefield games, which had 6 classes" while they show a BF2 graphic right next to it clearly showing 7 classes.
Anyways, I believe I saw it confirmed that BF3 will have more classes than BFBC2. Support is definitely ...
Not bad? Are you serious? What I saw was horrible and looked like a complete chore to control a FPS. No way Kinect will ever replace KB/M or a controller for FPS games.
Gimped is an understatement. What I saw was not even playable to me. People really need to give it up. Kinect will not work with FPS, period. Not without some kind of supplemental controller. And, I have to ask the question why anyone would want a Kinect FPS? The KB/M and controller do them perfectly now. Why replace that with inaccurate, laggy controls?
And wasn't one of the selling points of Kinect was controllers were just too difficult for casual gamers to figure out?...
Ya, I know of MAG, but I think they get away with it by dividing up the action so no one area gets overwhelmed with stuff going on and causing lag (explosions, vehicles, mayhem, etc.). Also, BF will be a much more graphically intense game which will also use up resources (the Frostbite engine has to keep track of all that destruction). It would be great if the consoles could handle a 64 player BF3. I really hope so, but I'm just saying and hoping that the PC version doesn't suffer if ...
I hope they don't limit the PC version just to make it equal to the console versions. So, for example, if the consoles couldn't handle more than 32 players, hopefully they won't limit the PC to the same number (please keep the large 64 player battles). Remember how the BF2 maps had different versions of the same map depending on the amount of players: a 16, 32, and 64 player variants. Well, then for BF3, consoles would only have access to the 16 and 32 size versions, but the PC wo...
Pretty good analysis and your sections match me very well. I'm in the Age 19-50 bracket, with an Average to High budget, an HD TV (with PC input), appreciate good Graphics, and like Upgrade Ability with Lasting Appeal. I line up on every one of those factors perfectly and that's why I own a gaming PC plus a PS3. You might have added a section on exclusives, because that was a big reason I went with a PS3 over the 360 as a "sidekick" to my PC gaming. PS3 has a real edge on qu...
@Strikepackage Bravo, that might be the way you define quality, but definitely not me. Quality in entertainment is mostly defined by critical acclaim. Just like in movies, TV or games, sometimes they overlap and you have something that's critically acclaimed and popular. But also, sometimes the critically acclaimed become flops and critically flamed become hits. The point is quality does not always equal popular and popular does not always equal quality.
Oh, and for the r...
@Father Murder X, BS! If Kinect is the future of gaming, then I'll go down kicking and screaming to defend the hobby I love rather than let it go down the road of mediocrity and appealing to the lowest common denominator.
Great comment. I also caught that inconsistency when saying he has all consoles, yet watches Netflix on the Wii. Huh? When you can do it in HD and 5.1 sound on the PS3?
Another big fail with this article is his math and lack of knowledge about gross profit. $56 is only the cost of materials with none of the R&D costs included. The thing also didn't magically assemble itself so there's manufacturing costs. The boxes had to be shipped so there is packaging and shipp...
So, millions watch American Idol, making it one of the top rated shows. Does that make it good? Popularity makes something good? Still a crappy show and has zero appeal to me. Same with Kinect. People are free to praise or put it down as they feel. Go ahead a support mediocrity and what's popular. I like quality games and shows....something that Kinect and American Idol are not.
The author is just another blowhard that doesn't what they're talking about (and a foxnews one at that....home of the blowhards).
What a "whah" article. Oh cry me a river. Kinect still has zero appeal to me, especially as a gaming device. I think it deserves the scorn and support gaming sites the right to put it down.
Where's the link the video so everyone can see how clunky the interface is? I'm not a WOW player, but it looks like a total chore to control your character with Kinect.
Oh, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
@Action Bastard, I bet that the Logitech Harmony is more accurate, useful and quicker interface than the Kinect.
I haven't seen one Kinect game worth playing and doubt I ever will. It will never be good at core games because it is just too laggy and inaccurate. Like the title of the article stated, "Kinect Has Hacks Galore, But Where Are the Games?"
Never played BF2? Oh are you deprived. One of the best FPS games of all time. The game is over 5 years old, but it still played by thousands every day. BF2 is larger than BFBC2: 64 player maps vs 32. Larger maps allow more vehicles which BF2 had in abundance (plus jets!). Squads were also larger with a Squad Leader. There also was a commander who had an overview map, very similar to an RTS, and he could call arty strikes, UAV's, and supply drops. It was overall a much larger game than BFB...
