This was a good list until I saw Kinect Adventures on it. C'mon now! Actually, the last three were really lame (Kinect Adventures, Wii Sports and Farmville?). Remove them and just call it 11 Games That Changed The World.
That's another reason why I prefer gaming on a PC over consoles (though I do own and like my PS3). First you find a community that you like and has like-minded gamers. Then, get on their TeamSpeak or other communication program they use to see if it's a community you would like to join. Once you find a good match, then you can be with other gamers who respect each other and have a good time without the annoying swearing, racist and homophobic rants.
I see from those video links you posted that this guy's Kinect light saber hack has already been done for the Eyetoy (looks like they used the same kind of broomstick). Actually, though, that Eyetoy light saber looked more responsive and less laggy than this Kinect video.
@gluv65, that is a very good point and another reason why I think the Sony Move would make a better device to have a light saber game.
No need to hack, just make a light saber game. Look how Sorcery uses the Move as a wand and the Nav controller for movement in the game environment; it's not too much of a leap to turn into a light saber.
I think it would make more sense and be easier to make a light saber game for the Sony Move. You already have a device in your hand that looks much like a light saber and has true 1:1 movement (plus rumble so you can "feel" when you hit something). In addition, you can have the Nav controller or DS in your other hand so you can move around in the game environment (so it wouldn't be an "on-rails" experience like the Kinect).
That's probably all the people in Japan who have enough room to use the Kinect.
I was half expecting to see Adam accidentally smack the kid like some of those other videos. Maybe it was edited out. Seems like it could be a problem when a kid and adult play: the adult's outstretched arm is just about the right height of a kid's head. Parents, be careful when playing Kinect with your kids.
Well said. Bubbles for you!
I haven't watched the VGA's since the first one which was just an over-glorified rap video. It was pathetic: hardly anything about games and all about music and dance routines. Sorry, but I'll stick to real gaming sites to see awards.
Xilus867 says "I would have definitely bought it for PC!!" Oh, HELL NO! I do not want this motion control fad to infect my PC gaming. Please don't give MS any ideas.
Probably in the closet or garage, like where most gimmicky toys end up. Kinect will probably be the next fad to collect dust once the hype wears off.
I am with you 100%! Motion control is just the dumbing down of gaming for the masses and I want nothing to do with it. I'm primarily a PC gamer, so I've been lucky that this fad hasn't infected my PC gaming, yet. I'm really hoping that this gimmick will die soon.
The pricing argument is a joke: "Pricing – At $149.99 including a game, Kinect is a bargain". A bargain? Simply unbelievable!
I don't think Omega4 realized that your comment was sarcastic....at least I hope it was sarcastic because I've yet to see a great game for it.
First sentence in the article: "With the holidays just around the corner everyone wants to experience the hottest gaming trend around." Everyone? Hardly! The Kinect is a complete joke that I want nothing to do with. I'm really hoping this motion gaming gimmick would just die already. This is just more dumbing down of gaming to appeal to the masses.
I'm really surprised that the space limitations wasn't included in the Kinect cons section. Also laughed how they put games in the pro section: "Kinect has introduced a lot of games that are fresh and original". That's a joke, right? They all seem to be dancing, fitness, and mini-game collections: weren't all these already done to death on the Wii? Especially since they put games in the con category for the Move: "We’ve already experienced lackluster titles like...
Well, as a core gamer, there really is no choice. GT5 all the way!
It's probably the 25th for Australia and the 24th for the US and Europe. This article came from an Australian website.
Quote from article: "I must first say that, for the time being, 2011 is the year for Sony and the Playstation 3. All in all, as of right now, they have 13 exclusive games set to be released in 2011."
Its good to be a PC/PS3 gamer. Lots of great games to look forward on both platforms. I enjoy my PC for FPS and RTS games while also getting to play the awesome PS3 exclusives. I believe the PC/PS3 combo is best of both worlds.
