I don't know if this number is legit. I thought there was a Steam survey that showed Nvidia as by far the market leader. Or, by using the word "discrete", are they including onboard video chipsets? Then I could see them being the market leader since AMD makes great chipsets. However, I believe that Nvidia is the overall leader in video cards.
Edit: OK, now I get it. Joydestroy explains how they are leader of only DX11 cards since AMD had nearly a year head star...
God help us all. This will lead to the further dumbing down of games for the masses and lead to evermore shovelware. When making AAA games cost lots of money, where do you think the publishers will put their money: making games for the lowest common denominator, at the least cost and most reward. The same thing happened to the TV and movie industries. Its hard to find real quality TV shows or movies when most get dumbed down for the masses. My fear is this Kinect thing is a success and it goe...
I think GT5 will have great sales, but it's exclusive to one platform. My money would have to be on Black Ops since it's on PS3, 360, and the PC.
It reminds me of the "I'm a Mac/I'm a PC" commercial. Just substitute Kinect for Vista and you get the point.

Ya, it's more of a satire piece that uses a provocative title to throw you off. However, some people just have a hard time getting it and will just comment based on the title.
No, not your half-brother, but a fellow Agent. "Missed it by 'that' much".
In addition to not supporting the best racing wheels, a 360 version would have to be on multiple discs since GT5 is most likely a very large file game.
I'm mostly a PC gamer, but I also own a PS3. I think it makes a better complement to my PC than the 360 for all the same reasons as the author. Since most of the 360 exclusives are also on the PC, it seems redundant to own one. I use my PC for FPS and RTS games because I believe the graphics and controls are better (keyboard and mouse all the way!). However, my PS3 also gets lots of work due to all the great Sony exclusives plus I get the console only games that skip the PC like Red Dead ...
That's what I did. Bought my PS3 one year ago when the price and size dropped. Although I'm mostly a PC gamer, I could no longer go without playing all those great Sony exclusives. I have been very happy with the PS3 and it makes a great complement to my PC. I believe having a gaming PC and a PS3 is the best of both worlds.
The author is correct about "Microsoft Kinect advertising has already set it in the hole". However, its actually a little worse because he forgot about retail markup of the Kinect plus the production costs and markup of the Kinect games in his equation. If you believe that the production cost is a $100, that doesn't leave a $50 profit because the unit is sold to the retailer at a reduced price, so the retailer can make money. So, that $50 "profit" is going to be much l...
As my alter ego Maxwell Smart might say, "It's the old review embargo of a piece of crap trick."
Never seen a more appropriate title. The Kinect is a toy and not a serious gaming device.
@Pandamoblile and Tachyon_Nova, I agree with you both and also think that it was a good looking game on the PC. Although the author's blog is short and probably won't be approved, I have to agree with him about why all the hate. I'm enjoying the MP because I really like DICE's style of MP games, especially for the PC. Sure, it wasn't a 9.0+ game, but surely these 6's and 7's are pretty low. I'd give it a solid 8.0 (7.5 for the SP and 8.5 for the MP).
I agree with you about blaming the Wii for all this crap. Because of that toy masquerading as a video game machine, the gaming companies now have to cater to the casual audience. I liked it much better when games were for gamers. This casual crap is the plague.
Really? I'm hoping that it is the flop it deserves to be.
Actually, it reminds me of the "I'm a PC/I'm a Mac" ad where PC is counting out wads of money: advertising, advertising, advertising, fix Vista; advertising, advertising, advertising, fix Vista. Then Mac asks why are you putting so few dollars into fixing Vista and PC says you're right...lets put it all into advertising. Sounds like MS is doing the same thing with Kinect.

Actually, I think after X-mas, there will probably be a lot of them selling on eBay; after people realizes that it doesn't work as advertised and didn't live up to the hype. Just another one of those gimmick items that end up being sold or put in the closet after a few months and brought out on a rare occasions.
"Banking" is the operative word. Half a billion dollar marketing budget! Even if it is a hugely successful product, how are they supposed to make money off this thing? Add in the R&D budget plus manufacturing costs minus retail markup and there can't be a profit there. MS must really be counting on this being a huge runaway success. And I fear for gaming if it becomes the next big thing. Luckily, I'm mostly a PC gamer, so I don't have to worry about this infecting my...
I have both a gaming PC and a PS3; its the best of both worlds.
FROM THE ARTICLE: "Kinect is what the future of gaming looks like," says Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft Entertainment, a games publisher that has announced five games that use Kinect, including a fitness title and a fighting game that go on sale this week. "This motion-sensing controller technology that they've created is absolutely a breakthrough."
I fear for the future of gaming if this ends up being the case.
