Yes, BF3 is bringing back TDM (BF1942 had it by the way). My suggestion: stick to the objective modes of Rush and Conquest. TDM is mainly there to attract the COD type gamers.

Wow, there are trolls and then there is Inside_out....troll extraordinaire.

@ExPresident, wasn't Crysis 2 only 6 v 6?

GFWL has effectively been dead for some time now. Don't see how a name change is going to help and it will be kind of odd getting PC games at a site called Xbox.com.

Rockstar should have released Red Dead Redemption on PC. I can just imagine the cool mods that could have been made for it.

The author and I agree with you: "But while the Kinect is a fascinating and important piece of technology, when it comes to gaming it’s not just a dead end for innovation – it’s an expensive, much-hyped digression, if not outright regression."

This was a great list. Glad to see the Desert Combat mod for BF1942 get some respect. That mod really got me into PC gaming for the first time.

I'm with you and see motion controls as pure gimmick. This was a great article and I really love this line: “Microsoft Changes Name to Kinectosoft Inc., Makes Kinect Ownership Mandatory.”

No matter where it comes from, funny is funny. This was downright lol funny.

Exactly, well said. As long as the frame-rate stays above 30, I'll take the higher resolution any day. I'm also a PC gamer, but if I was a console only gamer, I'd like my shooters at 720p with 30fps over 600p with 60fps.

@LOGICWINS, exactly. MW3 is more of an arcadey twitch shooter, so it needs the higher framerates to pull off a "smoother feel". BF3 (and most other console shooters) go with the higher resolution to present a graphically more "realistic feel".

Because, if MW3 was running at an HD resolution, it wouldn't be running at 60fps either. Its a trade-off: BF3 went for 720p with 30fps (which most console shooters run at) and MW3 will probably be at 600p with 60fps (which the previous COD games have run). I play my shooters on PC so I don't have to worry about the trade-off (I play them with high resolution and frame-rates). However, given a choice, I'd rather have the higher resolution as long as the frame rate stays above 30.

Microsoft on Kinect: “Core gamers will come around”. As my alter ego Maxwell Smart might say "I guess they're going for the old force it down their throats until they like it trick".

5341d ago 30 agree2 disagreeView comment

I don't know about that. I'd rather watch a Michael Bay movie than play a Kinect game.

5341d ago 13 agree0 disagreeView comment

Wow, are you some kind of MS spokesperson? You sound like an "over the top" commercial and I find it hard to believe anyone can be that excited over Kinect. Oh well, different strokes. Have fun with it if that's what you enjoy. It's definitely not what I look for in gaming, though.

Seems as though they corrected the article and now have 12 vs 12. Oh, and hey Panda, isn't it great that us PC gamers don't have to worry about this. We'll be getting both quality (DX11) and quantity (64 players). ;)

5341d ago 13 agree4 disagreeView comment

PC gamers will be getting both for BF3: quality (DX11) and quantity (64 players).

Thank you for the rebuttal and well said. I made much the same point in comment #2.1 about the 64 player BF3 on PC. Not only that, why does it have to be either or? I have a gaming PC and a PS3. I like them both and think they make a great gaming combo.

Well, if you're going to use the 360 as a reference point in comparison to a PC, you also need to include the XBL subscription price of $50-60 a year plus the average console game price being at least $10 a game more. PC gaming really isn't as expensive as people make it out to be. Especially when you consider that it is a true multi-task machine: It really does everything (and does them well). Sorry Sony. I own a PS3 (and enjoy it), but my PC is my true everything machine.

It's not just a matter of looking better that the article is pointing out. Another huge difference is the player count and how that is going to make for vastly different gameplay between the PC and consoles. If you don't think there is going to be a difference between a 64 player BF3 and a 24 player BF3, then you've never really experienced Battlefield. Plus, you act like the 360/PS3 won't be supported once the new consoles come out. They will; the install base is too great to...
