Why can't developers take a little accountability? EA makes games for every platform and because the PS3 they think the PS3 should sell faster they can't make enough money? What a bunch of whiners. Maybe if the majority of your games weren't just last years game with a new coat of paint you'd be doing better. Sheesh.
I played a ton of TWG in the early 00s but the last few years haven't seemed worth it. I've been waiting for another good one - let's hope it's 08.
Microsoft is in a tough spot with this one. The lack of an HDD definitely makes things tricky for developers, but allowing them to require it opens up a whole can of worms. Microsoft sure isn't going to want to subsidize HDDs for all the core owners out there, and they can't afford to just leave them out in the cold. Moving forward I think we're going to see this becoming more and more of an issue.
Shouldn't it be "By 2006..." Disagree? I'd like to see you fit Resistance on a DVD then :)
Man, Phil gives the best interviews of any of those guys - hands down.
The smartest thing for Activision to do would be to make the guitar controllers cross-compatible between RB and GH3. If I can use my RB guitar with GH3 then I'll buy GH3, but if I have to buy another controller to play GH3 I'll probably just stick with RB.
I agree with you guys - the Core was a mistake. I think we've already seen the difference in games like Oblivion where the loading and pop-ins were pretty bad as opposed to running on the PS3. I can't imagine how Rockstar will be able to make GTA4 run as well on the 360 as it will on the PS3 with no HDD to cache to. I imagine this may be part of the reason for Microsoft paying for exclusive content - they need something to combat the fact that the load times may be longer etc.
@Shiro - the CoD4 needing requiring HDD was debunked. They said the artists just stuck the icon on there as a placeholder.
I've never been super-psyched for this game, but let's at least wait until it comes out before we decide if it rules or sucks or whatever. One review is just one opinion and the only one that really matters is yours and mine. Have a little patience folks, it's gonna be out soon!
EA is the second largest third party publisher next to Activision. At least until Rock Band comes out.
I don't think the Wii's supposed broadening of the casual gaming market has been going on for long enough to really consider it a paradigm shift in the industry. At this point it could turn out to just be a fad - it's just too soon to tell.
Yeah... I know, never say never right? But this is never gonna happen.
Yes!
if by "quite some time" you mean the next two months then I might be able to agree with you. I don't think HD-DVD will survive holiday 2007 - there's just too much marketing money flying around that no one is going to want to split between competing formats.
That was way more than 4 :)
I keep forgetting the Orange Box. I'm SO getting that! Team Fortress 2 looks so awesome, and I haven't ever gotten to play HL2 so it's a must buy for me. SO MANY GAMES!!
I don't know about "another boring". I think it's going to rock. Yes, the shooter genre is flooded with mediocre titles, but this one's coming from the team that did CoD2 - which was an awesome games. CoD4 looks to have upped the ante on everything as well as bringing it to a "modern" timeframe. It's the only shooter of it's kind that I'm looking forward to - or, to look at it another way, it's the only shooter in the list of a dozen or so games that I want in the next few...
Yeah - I'm not sold on Lair yet either. I hope it rocks, but I'm not getting it on day 1. I'm really looking forward to LBP as well. So many games in the next 6-8 months!
Oh yeah - gotta have MGS4. I was restricting to this year because there are so many. Uncharted just barely got cut, but I'm getting it for sure.
Ratchet & Clank Future
Mass Effect
GTA IV
Rock Band
I think Sony knows what they are doing. Just because they are in "last" doesn't mean they have a plan. One has to remember that the farther out from launch we get the more profitable it becomes to sell a PS3. It then follows that Sony would prefer to sell the majority of the PS3s that will be sold after they become profitable. I think this is why they have been priced as high as they are - they can get a healthy albeit modest install base going while establishing PSN, building a lib...
