If you've got a 360 I wouldn't hesitate to pick this one up. I haven't gotten in as many hours as some of the folks on here yet, but quality doesn't seem to be an issue.
If you have doubts try the demo or give it a rent. It's worth a play.
I don't know if he deserves any sympathy. I was getting PSM as a gift when he started and he threw up his Sony hating flag in the first issue. It was pretty startling to see an editor of a Playstation fan magazine openly hating on the PS3 in his FIRST ISSUE. Man, I still can't believe it.
If he didn't see this coming... well, then he's just plain stupid. I think he's been asking for it for a while now.
Anyway - I'm not going to renew, it's really gone to the dogs...
EGM is pretty good. EDGE might be worth a look as well.
I'm not much of a PC Gamer, but my buddy just gave me the latest issue and I was pretty impressed with it - so if that's your scene maybe check that one out.
Steer clear of PSM for sure - it's really gone down hill this year and if you're on n4g most of the news will be no news to you by the time you get your issue. In the last 12 months the only real exclusive I can recall was the Haze one a few months back...
Please please please Sony - do it! Break the mold!
Seriously - if there's a monthly fee I won't play it. I just don't have enough time to invest in any game to get my money's worth if I keep paying for it month after month. Making it free will lead to a lot more people playing and that's a good thing - keeps the game going.
The first demo was so lame - I don't know if I'd waste the bandwidth on a second. Worst frame rate in a demo ever!
can't wait!
This is nonsense. Next will be lists on why Microsoft should retire Windows? Apple should retire the iPod? Pizza Hut should retire pepperoni?
Ridiculous.
sheesh - sounds like the Wii may not be the console for you. The only Wii game I have any interest in at the moment is Zelda, but it's just not enough for me. We'll probably pick up a Wii eventually, but for the moment I hardly have enough time to play all the PS3 and 360 games I want to - which will only be more so in the next few months.
Anyway - they do need to bring it with the games. They've talked about more/better 3rd party titles, but I haven't seen or heard anything th...
I think, if they can get enough Wii's shipped, Nintendo shouldn't have too much trouble surpassing the 360 in total units sold. 360 has Halo 3 coming which should move some units, Nintendo had several of it's big IPs on the way - so who knows how their respective paces will be affected by that. One thing that's certain is that the Wii has been selling a lot faster so unless that changes it's going to be in the lead fairly soon.
I think a Wii price drop is a long way off. The thing holding back sales now is production. By the time supply starts meeting/exceeding demand it'll probably still be the least expensive new system so they won't need to play the price-point card just yet. I could see it at $199 by holiday 2009.
The other possibility is that the hype will die down, sales will slow and they'll have to cut it to motivate them. I just think the Wii "fad" will last well into next year.
Well the conference started almost 8 hours ago. This rumor is a little late getting started, don't you think? :) It's almost 1am there now.
I think by localization they mean that there are different licensing issues in different markets so they might be able to get a certain song in NA but not EU etc.
No, they've said things like "it's possible, but it's up to Activision", but never confirmed if you can or not.
I hope you have the option to turn off the vocal track when you have a singer - it makes it sound not so good. They are doing it SingStar style here - opposed to normal Karaoke style which I think would be much better.
I can see the advantage of having it for people who don't know the songs (they can't get radio reception under their rocks), but for those that do it would be nice to have the option.
Does anybody think it might be possible that they did widescreen the way they did for technical reasons?
For instance - if the 16:9 vert res matched the 4:3 vert res then they 16:9 horiz res would have to be wider. This means that the 16:9 would have to extend in both directions making the amount displayed say 20%-25% larger.
Is it possible that this may have caused framerate or other such problems?
I bring it up because the explanation that they g...
This answer is utter horsecrap.
"Instead of cropping the FOV for 4:3 displays and making all 4:3 owners mad in doing so, we slightly extended the vertical FOV for standard def mode: we never wanted to have black bars on people’s displays. (This way, everybody is happy…)"
Everybody? You mean everybody who spent a bunch of money widescreed HDTVs? Give me a break. People don't buy widescreen TVs so they can see less.
"You will see more ...
This guy sounds like he's being contrary for the sake of being contrary - ie. if you want to get some web hits you're better off saying Bioshock sucks when a million sites are saying how awesome it is.
I don't see how you could be a fan of gaming and have his opinion.
It's kind of annoying that he didn't even admit to it in the note. How much more information do you need? All you have to do is say "sorry, we screwed up - we're gonna fix it."
I'm still playing the game, but I hope they take care of it.
Sony isn't affiliated with PSM so it's not really the same thing. But I agree that he should be fired for being an empty uniform and an idiot.
I've read every word he's written in PSM and the hateration couldn't be more obvious.
I'm so not renewing PSM.
How is this a confirmation of the patch?
They have a quote from Chris Kline from 3 months ago - before anyone even knew about the widescreen issue.
Shenanigans anyone?
